I've seen people cite this video before and it doesn't make any sense. How could they have the technology to fly thousands of miles into orbit while still controlling the shuttle and making it land safely given the conditions, film it, and then safely get it back to Earth - but somehow they didn't have the technology to have a film director fake it.
Apparently it was Arthur.C.Clarke who wrote the script and Stanley Kubrick directed it.
The comments in the chat on that video destroy the logic behind it, like this one:
