How is PFA going to die if you leave? It's actually the opposite. If I allow PFA to continue on its current course with your domination of the forum, longtime good posters will leave and go elsewhere, and that will be the beginning of the end of the forum.
As anyone will tell you, I don't let anyone here control what I do. I take everyone's opinions into consideration, but ultimately I decide for myself what is best. If your detractors here had their way, you'd have been re-banned a long time ago. You aren't, so that should show you that none of them control my actions.
In any case, there is no need to continue arguing this. My mind is completely made up.
Here are the facts:
1) The new restriction written into the software (applying to all users) will stand, and I am not removing it. At most I will slightly tweak it, but I don't even think that will be necessary.
2) The opinions of longtime contributing forum members mean a lot to me, regarding how this forum is run. I will ultimately do what I feel is correct, but I also listen very closely to what they collectively have to say, as the forum is for all of us, not just me.
3) The forum might eventually die one day, because all forums are going in that direction. However, it will die MUCH sooner if I let you attempt to shape the forum in the manner which you seem to want, or if I let you post as much as you want.
4) The presence of "liberals" on this forum does not bother me, and I don't feel we need tons of threads to counter their presence. I do just fine countering them on my own, as do some other right-leaning users who push back on them.
BOTTOM LINE: Your version of help on this forum is not wanted or needed. I do enjoy some of the threads/topics you bring, and as you've seen, some of it gets real engagement. If you made fewer posts/threads and were less combative to those who don't like you, the impression of you here would be much different.

I will come up with a modification shortly in order to address this matter.
I've decided to tweak this by lowering the number of replies for a thread to be considered uncountable for the purposes of this restriction.
The first attempt here made the threshold of 200 replies, which upon further reflection, is too high. The point is to keep the front page from being full of low engagement threads by one person. However, 200 replies aren't needed to break out of the "low engagement" label.
I have decided that any thread with 60 replies or more has received enough engagement to be excepted from the restriction.
I also don't have to worry about over-bumping of such old threads, because the old bump restrictions are still in place from June.
I will also kick up the overall limit to 10 from 8, and see how it works out.
If this still creates undesirable restrictions, I will tweak it further.

Fortunately most of the "work" involving this site is already done. The vast majority of the setup here was done in 2012. I've had to make some additions and subtractions from the tech at various times for various reasons (some just because of time passing and the internet landscape changing), but for the most part this forum runs itself.
The biggest drain on my time in recent years involving this forum hasn't had to do with any posters here. It's had to do with bots/spammers attacking this place, and my ongoing attempts to thwart them. For the moment, I'm winning that battle, but it's an ongoing headache. But nothing I can do, as this isn't personally aimed at me, and these bots are originating outside the US.
I also try to come up with low impact solutions to problems which come up here. That's what I'm attempting here -- putting sane limits on thread creation and bumping which overall make the forum better, yet are transparent to members who aren't abusing things.

Don’t get me wrong the original idea behind this place is great. Exposing fraud in the poker and gambling community is useful and noble. And your great work has been acknowledged in mainstream media obviously. But the rest of the place is a shithole for multiple reasons that anyone can see.
