Back in the day, docs used to write orders and rns would carry out. Then when things became computerized they complicated the most simplest tasks with pages and pages of questions.
The biggy that happened is docs had to start doing all the steps by themselves instead of the usual delegating.
They ain’t got time for that shit.
I knew at least 10 younger but experienced say 10:years and up that bailed on being a doc because of this. Times this number by hospitals in the country…huuuuge.
Add in relentless back and forth with insurers and you get insanity.
When I started nursing over 30 years ago, patient care took up 75% of your time and charting took 25%. When I bailed on nursing those percentages flipped.
Healthcare needs a complete overhaul to eliminate so much bullshit.
Healthcare needs to be nonprofit period.
