United Healthcare CEO shot dead in Midtown Manhattan

Delay in care is a huge, huge, huge, HUGE problem in countries with socialized medicine.

Seeing a specialist will typically take 6 months (or more).

Getting tests will typically take 8 months (or more).

And that's if you don't get denied either or both of the above, which is common.

You think United Healthcare was bad regarding denials? Wait 'til you see socialized medicine!


Retards on social media say, "BUT IT'S THE SAME IN THE US, I ALSO CAN'T SEE A SPECIALIST FOR 6 MONTHS!!!!!!11"

To that I give two responses: Bull and shit.

Most of the time when I need a specialist, I can get a same week (and sometimes same day) appointment. Occasionally there is a months-long wait for care if the particular specialty has a shortage of doctors in the area. For example, I needed to see a dermatologist last month over some suspected eczema on my face. Everywhere local was quoting me appointments in March. No good.

So what did I do? I checked down the road, and about 30 miles away, they were able to see me within a week. Not ideal, but at least the option was open to me, and I took it. In a socialized system, I'd be waiting until June for that appointment, with no choice.

I have never been denied any coverage in my life. I do have good insurance. I was in the hospital like 5 years ago for what I thought was a heart attack. Spent three days in there, they ran a battery of tests and procedures, like two cardiologists examined me. I was being woken up in the middle of the night multiple occasions for blood work. My total bill was like $44,000, I paid my deductible of what I remember was like $4,000, rest paid by insurance. Seems reasonable to me, I was thankful and not hating on insurance companies. Not sure why people are complaining, get better coverage. It's pretty easy.

Back in the day, docs used to write orders and rns would carry out. Then when things became computerized they complicated the most simplest tasks with pages and pages of questions.

The biggy that happened is docs had to start doing all the steps by themselves instead of the usual delegating.

They ain’t got time for that shit.

I knew at least 10 younger but experienced say 10:years and up that bailed on being a doc because of this. Times this number by hospitals in the country…huuuuge.

Add in relentless back and forth with insurers and you get insanity.

When I started nursing over 30 years ago, patient care took up 75% of your time and charting took 25%. When I bailed on nursing those percentages flipped.

Healthcare needs a complete overhaul to eliminate so much bullshit.

Healthcare needs to be nonprofit period.

My sister was an intensive care nurse. (mother was a nurse) Sister dropped out and went to work for a lawyer. She culls their files for pertinent medical info.

She’s infinitely happier.

Pretty much sums the state of health care for me. Good luck with bodies. You can’t throw enough money at nurses to make them stay. … and they make really nice money.

I receive Medicaid so wont pay Medical bills or healthcare again until I die, being disabled I'm able to receive Medicaid

Medicaid isn't the best but you don't even have to pay a Co-Pay with Medicaid, so I'm fortunate for that now..

My updated theory:

This was carried out by some activist organization similar to Antifa that wanted to shine a light on the healthcare industry. I don't think it's some super large well-funded operation but it does seem to have some level of planning and intelligence.

They chose the CEO of the company with the highest percentage of denied claims to make their point.

He almost certainly had help throughout this. He was on his burner phone while waiting for the CEO outside the Hilton. He probably had help once he made it to Central Park. The e-bike was set-up for a quick and easy getaway. How did it get there?

The final point that tips it in favor of an activist group is the coordinated response online. Yeah, I know, many people hate the insurance industry. But, I've never seen this type of commentary be so viscous when a non-violent person is murdered. It reminds me of the lead-up to the election.

The online response seems to be driven by bots. It almost certainly is a coordinated effort.

I just don't think that guy gets out of the city if he is acting on his own.

A killing where ideologically a large percentage of the population agrees with you. Something like Ross Ulbricht is the closest thing I can think of, but he was a dorky tech kid who went with no resistance and was scared and didn’t really kill anyone, just tried to put out a hit.
