ok i have some color commentary / back story on whats going on here vis a vis musk having an actual very online meltdown / running twitter dick first into the permafrost:
there is a yearly event called 'newfronts'. this is an event where digital companies essentially sell ad blocks for the next year, i believe it was scheduled in early may this year. anyway typically, twitter will lock in $750m USD in ad rev here, +/- $150m. thats contractually guaranteed cash for the following year, every year.
apparently some 'activists' called 'Stop the Deal' reached out to the usual suspect advertisers and said look, all we want you to do is ask the absolute bare minimum due diligence questions about wtf twitters plans are next year, nbd. just ask. then do whatever you want with your money, but just ask whats going on first.
so they did. just total puff piece soft ball questions. and twitter had literally zero answers. very quickly everything went totally off the rails. they had to shut down the presentation. almost no ad blocks were sold.
punch line; musk has had what, 6 months to reassure ad clients and present them a plan since the event. and instead of that, hes harassing them online, accusing them of being leftist activists, and generally stripping gears and destroying relations with parties who have literally spent billions of dollars with that company already.
so yeah basically musk's master stroke here was to alienate everyone who funded twitters ongoing operations and then resort to begging his influencers to pay $8 a month.

Looks like the twitter overhang for Tesla stock is now a permanent thing. If you are long Tesla, I would advise taking some chips off the table on the next bounce. You can get 4% for a 12 month CD at some banks, don't know why anyone wants to be in stocks right now. And if the CD rates go to 6-7%, there will be a massive rug pull in all stocks.Quote:

The problem for twitter/Elon is that they’ve made two incompatible promises. They have vowed not to censor accurate information and they’ve said they won’t allow “hate” speech.

Is there any other stock in the world that has a CEO premium like Tesla? If the CEO of Walmart dies, nobody would even notice. Same could be said about IBM, Home Depot, Costco, Intel, Nvidia, Adobe, Ford, and 1000's of other stocks. If Elon Musk died, Tesla stock would drop 75-90% overnight. That is the #1 reason to avoid the stock.
This market is exactly like the dot com crash. Back then it was Beanie Babies that went up like crazy, this time it was NFT's. Dot com stocks crashed and money poured into dividend stocks. Same thing going on now. FAANG getting demolished while Pepsi, McDonalds, Exxon, and other dividend stocks are at all time highs. The trend will continue.
