Don't know about USA but in Canada there is extensive therapy prior to operation to deal with issues you mention. In fact it's required.

This isn't the issue. Grown people will do what they want. If you are not breaking any laws you are not supposed to be discriminated against. Not accepting someone because they are different to you or because you feel they should handle their gender identity in a different fashion should not give anyone the right to exclude them from anything, especially serving in the military.

Also, they are not just trying to ban people going through surgeries. They are banning people who take hormones or do not identify with their birth gender... you are falling for the spin job and not the core of the problem
