It's always a turnoff when an entertainment brand whores itself out to merchandising and advertisements. Even at the Simpsons' apex, Butterfinger commercials were corny as hell. I always admired Bill Waterson for putting his foot down on that.

In the Dota 2 announcer pack, he makes no effort to hide the fact that he has no idea how the game works. Somehow that makes it more amusing. His rushed licensed adventure game is titled Rick And Morty's Rushed Licensed Adventure. Many of the jokes are about how there wasn't time to program basic functions into the game because it's just a cash grab so who cares.
he understands his audience and he understands the half life of the genre.
