In a vacuum getting rid of alcohol seems reasonable enough. There is probably a lot of sensible laws we can all think of that aren't going to be passed, cause there would be too much resistance.
In your fantasy land where such a law was passed, I doubt police would even comply with forcibly trying to take peoples guns. Would be a nightmare with tons of cops and civilians getting shot/killed in standoffs.
