I have no clue what the fuck this article is talking about.

Betonline actually has Floyd an even bigger favorite than before at -720. Conor at +545
Someone who has a Bovada account check that shit, there is no way the gap can be that wide.
The line has moved considerably since it opened, IIRC Floyd was in the -1200 range when this went live, but the cult of Conor always seems to stack their dole checks on him so yeah, the line has moved. On top of which, a lot of perfectly rational people are taking the Conor via KO in rd 1-4 line, which has great value.
So yeah I'm side-eyeing the assertion that this had anything to do with the pressers.
So, l can get +290 that Mayweather gets knocked down. Isn't this easy money folks?
In response to JMM, I think McGregors boxing credentials are being massively downplayed. Read his wiki:
Background
When McGregor was twelve years old, he began boxing at Crumlin Boxing Club under two-time Olympian Phil Sutcliffe.[165] It was here where he laid the foundations to his striking ability,[166] training with fighters such as Dean Byrne and Jamie Kavanagh, both of whom went on to train at Wild Card Gym under Freddie Roach. Kavanagh recalls McGregor as "a game kind of boxer. He was very game. He loved to fight. But he was also very strong - he could seriously bang."[167] McGregor would eventually become an All-Ireland champion at youth level,[168] but his attention began to turn towards other martial arts when he was about sixteen.[165] Despite this, and his family moving to West Dublin, McGregor continued boxing. He has regularly sparred at Celtic Warrior Gym, Blanchardstown, which has been home to boxers such as Gary O'Sullivan and Frank Buglioni.[169][170] Head coach Packie Collins, brother of Steve, commented "he comes down here and he can hold his own with world champions." He continued "I won’t name names but, the last time he was up here a very good boxer of ours couldn’t make head nor tail of what Conor was doing. He has what appears like a kind of chopping movement when he strikes and he doesn’t use a traditional stance, so this guy just couldn’t time him at all."[171]
On paper its still an epic mismatch, but it's not without merit - like I hear some saying how he has 0 chance because he's never boxed before.
McGregor routinely gets his ass handed to him in sparring sesions with guys ranked between 10-20. He is BOXING arguably the greatest BOXER of all time. You can't just pick up timing in training camp. The timing required to box at the elite level is so far beyond what McGregor or any other human could learn in such a short period of time.
Yeah, he boxed as a kid. Most people are talking about the fact that he's never boxed as PRO before.
I don't know who he's boxed at the gyms in Ireland, but Freddy Roach said he visited his gym, and Freddy's guys busted him up pretty good.
The angles and unpredictability are what he has going for him. Some of those chopping shots like Maidana landed are what bothered Floyd so much in their first fight. Shit he's not expecting because they're coming from angles he's not used to from boxers.
That said, I don't think his footwork will be near good enough to get to the positions that Maidana got to.
Floyd is a master at setting traps and getting the fuck out of the way. Conor should be hitting air for however long it lasts.
I get a kick out of people saying "well, McGregor has been boxing since he was a kid!"
But, do you know who else has been boxing a pretty long time? Floyd Mayweather.
Closer to the fight need set up a prediction freeroll. Pick the result round or decision, dead heat rules apply.
Full disclosure, one of my wagers is Conor in rd 1-4, but again Nate outboxed Conor... soooooo badly.
I still think that is a good bet to hedge against Floyd by decision. I have a theory that Connor has worked on his cardio since the Diaz fights and is going to come out semi-berserker style and swarm him. He knows that if he gets one good clip in that makes Floyd even a bit wobbly the defenses will fall to a great degree.
He lost in the amateurs enough times, and was beaten in the pros but got a gifted at least 1 decision.
As if you gonna mention his name next to greats like Sugar Ray Robinson.
Your entire argument is that he lost as an amateur and had a close pro fight.
Can't mention him with Sugar Ray Robinson who lost 19 times, though.
Your own goddamn argument works against you.
I love people bringing up Sugar Ray Robinson all the time. Yeah bro I'm sure you've really analyzed those 3 videos from 1947 long enough to form an intelligent argument.
Yeah I watches the Castillo fight and he was def having problems there with his aggression. Close but seemed like he didn't do enough ftw.
Not sure bout Maidana, some say he lost first 1 too, bit he put a poll on twitter who he should fight next and the result was khan but he never fought him - they say styles make fighys, and khans speed would have been better
Obv he also ducked Margarito
Close fights aren't "gift decisions".
All Khan had was speed.
And "styles makes fights" is the most over used phrase in boxing. If the style made the fight, the same style would win every time. It's the ability to implement the style that wins the fight. And Khan was terrible at sticking to a gameplan.
That fight goes something like.....Khan starts out with quick jabs. Floyd gets the timing down of his jab, starts to counter. Khan stops throwing the jab because of the counters. Floyd sweeps the late rounds and wins 8 rounds to 4.
It takes more than speed.
May weather got his ass handed to him in sparring years ago by some American Italian boxer, can't remember his name, who got sent down for beating his gf and pulling a flick knife and a blueberry muffin at a grocery store checkout
Lol its not a rumour
No smoke without fire ya get me
Tis true that sparring stories are to be taken with a pinch of salt tho
Of course it was a rumor. There's no proof of it happening, so it's as good as he said/she said.
I believe Spadafora probably did get the better of him in a sparring session.
In a....SPARRING session.
Sparring isn't about winning. It's about testing. You try new things, new moves, punches from different angles, setting up traps, working on your stamina, defense, etc.
Sparring isn't judged because sparring is training.
lol jmm loves boxing so much hes out here arguing with an actual retard JUST FOR THE LOVE OF THE SPORT
I disagree. I think he ducked a lot of people including Manny for many years. He should have fought Cotto 3 years earlier. I also consider fighting Canelo when he was only 21 a pretty shitty thing to do. He did not fight the best available fighters the last 6 years of his career.... he is still, in my opinion, the best boxer of all time. I think Julio César Chávez is high on the list of best boxers ever and he always fought the best available boxers.
I have lolwow on ignore bcoz he used to be a terrible poster.
I now read his posts when I get the chance as he is competition on here and that's saying something
Never mind.
I don't have the energy to go through the Manny ordeal again. Long story short, I blame 90% of that fight not happening sooner on Bob Arum. He knew Manny wasn't beating Floyd so he made excuses to hold the fight up. Remember, Arum said Mayweather was the best he'd seen since Ali. Until he left Top Rank. Then the shit storm began.
Floyd tried to fight Cotto earlier. Cotto's team said he wasn't ready. Canelo had over 40 pro fights when he fought Floyd. He's the same fighter today, that he was then. He'd lose the exact same way in a rematch. Canelo just doesn't fight in the manner that it takes to rattle Mayweather. I do think he's got a real good shot to beat GGG, though.
People forget that Mayweather tried to fight a lot of these guys early on. They didn't want any part of him until he became the cash cow. Mosley didn't want him at 140 because he had to get some dental work done. Cotto said it was too early. Pacquiao wanted a cutoff date for drug testing.
People just hate Mayweather because he's a shitty person. Which is fine, but it blinds them from the facts.
Apologies el gallo for not reading your post properly
You still a boxing casual tho
Enjoy smoking Floyd Mayweather dick u loser
