Go fuck a tree AssBrown ya goddamed geek
shame on you Todd, Badguy already made it clear
The lawyers he hired took only one thing into consideration: The fact that Micon was able to pay them their retainer.
Criminal defense attorneys are typically not very picky regarding the cases they take. This is because they get paid whether they win or lose. It's not like a personal injury attorney who only gets paid on contingency when he wins, so he has to weed out the longshot cases.
Also, if they can somehow pull off a miracle and get Micon off of this one (or get him a severely reduced punishment), this will be yet another feather to put into their cap, as this is a high profile case. And if they can't help him, this won't look bad for them, as it's clear that the evidence against Micon is very strong.
It seems at this point that his attorneys are just advising him to come back to Vegas and face this. I'm assuming that they told him they can't do much more until he comes back, though they can likely analyze the complaint and figure out what his chances are of beating it (which must be pretty damn low).
micon no different than any other skinny n-word looking for the easy way out, finding instead a way behind bars.
The reason Micon is scrounging for lawyers is to avoid jail time. It is not going to happen. The NGC and DA did not have a press conference to have some type of house arrest.
I have known two people that have been to jail, neither were assaulted, its not maximum. Micon will spend a year at an honor ranch and pay a fine if he is smart. Then he can write a bitcoin book.
His worst decision ever was to flee to a 3rd world country and open up a poker site. My gosh how stupid are you? You added minimum 3 months to your sentence. Going to Antigua was ridiculous.
I've had a few people ask me if it's safe to play on SWC Poker right now and imo it actually isn't that risky IF you just put on a small ass amount the day you want to play and cash all of it out immediately that night when you are done. Payouts are still going very fast from everything I've continued to hear but I'd never use that site to continue to store the money leaving a lot in Micon's hands because even though I don't think he would ever intend to steal from anyone what if he they get him in custody, the site gets shut down, or he must spend the money for his legal shit?
SWC funds still actually have more value then Merge dollars do atm.
My fucking God! Why are people so fucking stupid? Since Antigua is involved with online gaming, why hasn't anyone from the online casino mafia put a bullet in Micons head already? He blatantly invaded their turf.
Well played 'tine.
Meanwhile back in Vegas, Chenoff is today focused on whether bail is even a remote possibility. Is Micon a flight risk? It is possible you guys are way ahead of yourself with Chenoff & Micon's defense. Bail is a deal breaker for the kid, imo. The retainer may just be for dealing with this question.
Will he have the means to post bail if Chenoff binks a miracle?
If bail can't be negotiated this gets a lot more fun as Micon starts shopping for a used dinghy. The argument that Micon won't run b/c he has a wife & kid makes no sense to me. If he is in jail, they retreat to her family. Micon is useless to them. They split up. He will think it best.
The case is tough enough without meeting your client in the big house.
I wonder about hidden assets. I firmly believe the same guy who may have had the balls not to cash at $400 then $600, $800, $1200 also likely rode it back down. However, is there a small something squirreled away that he patently refuses to touch for fear of tipping it's location - and thus, the fundraising. Micon's last ditch go-bag.
So does Antigua round up Micon?
Will Micon be offered bail?
Edit: I saw China's post of Micon interviewed with Alex. I cannot get over the pencil arms on this guy. He has the build of a Biafran war baby. The notion of jail (any jail - hell the Nevada DMV) while awaiting a hearing has got to fill him with terror.

I think Micon needs to find a way to ban players from Nevada. If he can't, he needs to at least bluff til he can.
Post a disclaimer that players from Nevada will risk having their funds seized etc..
Throw em a bone.
Give the Nevada authorities some fold equity.
You serving Nevada residents may be causing alot of headaches and sleepless nights.
Follow Bovada's lead.
I agree that this isn't a bad idea. Doubt he'll do it, though.
I said before that Micon broke the law for profit. That was true, but it wasn't the whole story.
He ran Seals, despite the immense personal (and family) risk involved, for both profit and adulation. He saw himself as a warrior for gambling freedom. He saw himself as the benevolent figure who would bring poker to anyone on the globe who wanted to play it, laws be damned. And most importantly, he wanted everyone to recognize that he was this benevolent and heroic figure.
On the surface, this doesn't seem bad. In fact, it seems downright noble to risk your own freedom for the high-minded pursuit of offering online poker to those deprived of it by foolish laws.
Unfortunately, that decision also came with a large degree of carelessness and irresponsibility. After all, if your decision to offer poker to everyone puts the entire site at risk, then you are doing a disservice to your players by not mitigating that risk.
As you mentioned, look at Bovada. Would they love to take new business from Nevada, Delaware, and New Jersey? Sure. But they don't, because they want to be able to continue offering the product to the other 47 states, and touching those other 3 would put themselves at risk.
Bovada is not stuck on some haughty idea that EVERYONE must be able to play there, and that anything less than that is yielding to the man. No... they assessed the risks and made judgment calls.
But I can't see Micon doing that. He doesn't want to yield to "the man" and remove anyone's freedom to play on his site. He thinks that's not the bitcoin way.
Holy shit! So much gold...

Also, the PM says extraditing people that broke US online gaming laws is not a priority.Quote:

What are we suppose to do? take responsibility for their personal conduct, as a government? As far as I am concerned, we will engage these people. If they take on any risk in their respective countries, and they get caught, that's their problem. we're not gonna make it our government's problem. And we do not expect anyone, for political gain, will use those unfortunate situations which can tarnish the image of the country"

I signed a lease about 1.5 months ago to come here on vacation with my family, and I wasn't charged with any crime.
As a bitcoin advocate for the past few years, I hope to continue to spread the technology of cryptocurrency wherever my family and I end up. The promise of an alternative the US dollar is too tempting not to continue it's exploration.

Personally I don't feel that Antigua has been treated fairly by the USA. I think that bitcoin could one day offer an alternative to the US dollar, and that bitcoin gambling companies could bring the technology to the island while creating local jobs.

I appreciate the response, even if it phrased negatively.
I am not a lawyer, but can speculate the licencing requirements for a bitcoin poker site that does no business outside of the bitcoin protocol may be different from traditional fiat-based online gambling sites.
Some don't consider bitcoin money, and some do. The protocol is outside all other banking systems, operating in it's own network. I have a team working hard to determine the course of action from here regarding license requirements. It is truly uncharted territory.
On the subject of "fighting to clear my name," I have not been charged with any crime, and I wasn't operating the site. I was in charge of marketing and affiliate duties at SealsWithClubs. I stand firm on my history, if you investigate what users had to say about SealsWithClubs it is in general a glowing review with thanks for operating ethically in what have always been murky waters. Many are calling for our return to once again provide them with proper bitcoin poker.

While I was not selected at random I do not feel I have done anything wrong. It is also important to understand I was not charged with a crime and never have been charged with a crime in my 36 years. I am a family man first and foremost and try very hard to spend each day with my 2 year old daughter and wife. I hope to prove to you that I am not "America's trash," but a forward-thinking businessman looking to pioneer a new industry and use profits for social good. I think a "Bitcoin silicon valley" is possible for Antigua, which would bring many jobs and spread the bitcoin technology to local businesses. I want to make a positive impact on my surroundings, wherever I may be at the time.

From vegas post above. Holy shit am I to believe he randomly selected antigua? Well fucking played.
Antigua & Barbuda has been locked in a gaming dispute with the US since 2003, in which the World Trade Organisation ruled that the US was wrong to block its citizens from accessing online gaming services based here and should stop immediately. However, the US has failed to comply with the WTO ruling and a settlement is yet to be reached in the matter. It was not random at all.
He chose Antigua for exactly that reason.
He also had already chosen to move there before the busts occurred. I actually had heard about this before Seals went down. The Seals thing just hastened the process.
I had heard he was planning to move to Antigua because he wanted to run more than just a bitcoin poker room. I did not know about the attempted Lock purchase (which reportedly was tried in February 2014), but that fits in with everything else I was told.
Presumably, the goal was to move to Antigua and either expand Seals or buy/start non-bitcoin poker rooms and/or casinos, such as Lock Poker. For some reason he felt comfortable running Seals while living in Vegas, but not something like Lock. I never understood that.

Micon needed to pay closer attention to fellow Jew rabble-rouser.
"The first duty of a revolutionary is to get away with it." -Abbie Hoffman
Hard to be a revolutionary when you run. It's much easier to be someone who shot an angle, got caught, and now has to pay the man. But that type of honesty doesn't make for good gofundme campaigns.
If you're going to play the freedom fighter, you have to come back and go to battle here, where the actual battle is. Beat the case. Then you're Bitcoin Larry Flynt.
But if you run or plead, that's fine, but you're not an idealist. You're a pragmatist who took a shot. People can respect that if you quit acting like the former.
What are the odds that Micon uses his legal funds to pay off the Antiguan government and get regulated there? He does however claim the servers are located somewhere else in the world.... I still find it hard to believe that the government chooses to back him unless he pays them their "citizen" fee.
Prison is going to be hard for Micon. "The Man" is going to be telling him when he wakes up and goes to sleep, when he eats, and they are going to force him to shower more than once a month.
Sorry for being ignorant here, but how does go fund me work? Does he get everything even if he doesn't make his goal or is it a all or nothing type thing? If he gets it no matter what, while I love the donations with names like Justin, Todd, Drex, I think people should stop doing this as he doesn't deserve anything after the way he treated this community. Now, if it's all or nothing, then I'm totally cool with fucking him all day long just loading up on $5 donations that will be refunded to me.

THE COMMENTER INCORRECTLY BELIEVED THE ANTIGUAN PM WAS SPEAKING ABOUT BRYAN MICON WITH THAT QUOTE, BUT HE WAS NOT.
The video is ACTUALLY from 7 months ago:
So who WAS he speaking about? Initially I though Calvin Ayre, but he is NOT a "young man": See 7:01 in the video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=644&v=q6pzH0_bOoU
Certainly sounds like their government is not overly concerned about young men who make mistakes in their own countries regarding online gaming laws though...
Garrett - Micon doesn't deserve any sympathy. From your join date I suspect you are missing the history which others have lived through.
While never scamming anyone a la Jasep, he fucked Druff and he fucked Brandon, and proceeded to run his lazy-ass hair-brained get-rich-quick schemes sticking the mid-digit up at authority and the law.
In a line up Russ Hamilton, Jen Larsson, Annie Duke, Howard Lederer, Ray Bitar, everyone from UB, everyone from AP, and Micon, I would sincerely wish a harder fall / justice for all the others over Micon.
Micon's stance in running SWC from Nevada was about as stupid as a campaigner holding placards in the middle of the interstate. However worthy the cause, it is only a matter of time before they are run down and and killed or injured.
And I get how some people can have different relationships with others, for better or worse. Look how I have been received/treated since first arriving here, like absolute shit. What they didn't get was I really do lol at it, and am immune to it and realize they are trying to make me out to be the biggest scumbag in the world here, in hopes I maybe wont find a steak or a break etc..
Which obviously isn't why I found this place or came here, so you have to understand from MY perspective PFA hasn't necessarily been an overly welcoming experience, or a community I could necessarily say, yea you know maybe they are right. Honestly, I found many more SCUMBAGS here then I ever have on SWC. And I obv play poker on SWC.
Alot of you prob didnt know that, but I treat each like completely different entities in my life, and imo for the way I usually roll this is even TMI, but I have to be honest, SWC/Micon have my upmost respect. And thats the funny or weird thing to you all about me, I really wasn't around when you all formed hate for one another based off this experience or that, I based it purely on my experiences on PFA, and my experiences on SWC. And I can't lie there's many more scumbag poster/duper user pieces of shit then I ever ran across on SWC, here.
So yea, Im a VERY loyal guy, at the core, and I can't find it in me to dawg him or what he did period. I think a lot of people here deserve a punch in the mouth, in whatever form that may have come. Let's be honest, this is not the most welcoming or nice group of people in the 'poker world'!!!
anyone know the workers party balance?
Lulz at the troll donations, but was hoping to see two separate $5 ones from PeterDC, for half (arrest) and final(conviction) obv.
Druff can you do a containment move on Garrett? This thread was somehow avoiding toilet status until recently.
Also and I have one very serious concern about all this and thats Micon getting shanked/burnt/stomped over gambling debts incurred in prison. No other scenario really strikes me as anything worse than the cost of doing business in his field. You simply dont run an unregulated poker site in the year of our lord 2015 without knowing full well you might catch a 34 month breather (22 with good behavior). I dont believe for a second Micon never considered this and was at peace with the equity numbers, because really if he did manage to skate charges he could have been the next fucking Calvin A. I'm having a tough time judging him for rolling those dice at the moment.
Anyway, point being, the #1 reason people catch bad in prison is drug debts. #2, gambling. So when Beaker starts smoking other peoples dope and losing his ass playing hearts, expect real horrors.
Micon can beat whatever table he's sitting at in there, so that's most likely going to be a comfortable place. It would be the 'if you do this, i'll get so and so to do that and then bring in the triangle trade' aaaand 1 part of it falls through. That's where you come out a honey bun.
