That's right. I've cornered the market on Albertsons Monopoly Game pieces. I've been all over the net outbidding suckers for every piece out there. By my estimation, I have more than one third of all rares and semi-rares in circulation. The other two thirds have mostly been cashed out or are sitting in landfills. If you still think you can find the piece you're looking for, good luck with that. I'll be right here waiting.

When you get back, I'll extend you the generous offer of buying your pieces for pennies on the dollar. I suggest you take it.

Your unopened pieces are worth small fractions of a penny. The odds of opening even a semi-rare are long.

Actually Ive sold more than 1500 pieces so far through ebay and craigslist for around $.50-$.75 each. wouldve sold the other 2k but ebay closed down my auctions about a hr before they were done.

First of all, the total value of both prizes is $540k. If you had a single ticket that could be exchanged for those prizes, and were selling at 1%, 5.4k is about right. But that is not the case.

Your semi-rare pieces are half of a set. If we were to consider rares and semi-rares equally scarce and valuable, then $2.7k would be a fair price at 1%. But that is not the case.

In fact, your pieces have almost no value. It's extremely unlikely that you'll ever find anyone in possession of the rares to complete your sets, partly because I'm already hoarding so many of them. Your semi-rares are worthless even to me, as I already have more semi-rares in these sets than I do rares, so I can't use yours to complete a set. I just want to hoard them.

Semi-rares for the medium prizes have some value, as there are still a fair number of rares floating around out there, and those people will need to buy from you.

Semi-rares for the huge prizes are almost worthless. Take the $1,000,000 prize, for example. There is only one rare piece, yet a lot of semi-rares. Of all the semi-rare pieces for the $1,000,000 prize, one will end up being worth something (the one that gets paired with the rare piece, likely through a sale), and the rest will be worth ZERO.

If you get one of the pieces where you need two, you are unlikely to get the other. Start scouring the internet for blogs and message boards discussing it, and post like crazy that you have the piece and need that other specific piece.

As a funny aside, in 2012 when I had that $5,000 rare piece, I was contacted by someone who claimed they had the other piece, so I got all excited and asked for their phone number.

It turned out it was some girl in her early 20s from Newhall, CA (about 30 miles north of LA) and she was really confused. She had the same rare piece I did, and we both needed the semi-rare one. While I was trying to explain it to her, she started to flirt with me and attempted to stay on the phone as long as possible. I've been with Ben's mom since 2009, so I politely ignored it and got off the phone. To be fair, I never told her how old I was, so maybe she thought I was somewhat near her age. I also heard a young kid in the background, so maybe she was looking for a new baby daddy.

It kind of defeats the whole "Oh, let's capitalize on these people by making a statistically poor incentivized bribery scheme disguised under a GAME! EVERYBODY LOVES GAMES! AND MONEY! AND CARS!!" thing.

you're denying this grocery corporation their money-making by enabling the optimization of prize-redemption! :O and on top of that, the game doesn't run through its "natural course".

I knew I should have tried harder at this game and went searching on forums instead buying high priced items for nothing. I never thought i could really win so thus my crappy effort, but "you never know" keeps popping up in my head. I'm so hopeless, lol. Only good thing i've gotten is a Netflix rental.
