I knew only of the legend but was too young to pay attention to the event that it was.
I was certainly unaware of how the story of this man played out.
Quite the story from beginning to end
I hate chess in the same way I hate math and physics.

I've heard really good things about this, not sure if it's classified as a miniseries / documentary or what. Kind of seems like a mix of both from what I've gathered.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG just wrapped ep 1, yall niccas need this in your lives.
The Queen of Versailles. Odd title but there was an attractive blond on the "cover" so I gave it a shot.
It's about one of the richest men in America, his beauty queen trophy wife, the biggest time share company in the world, the financial collapse of 2008 and it's effect on their lives.
Las Vegas is a focus point, but watching the impact on these people as shit is going down is the real reason to watch.
Not to mention opulence beyond imagination.
STREET THIEF
I watched this out of boredom and was caught up in it quickly. I have always felt I could have ended up like this
but I also drew the line when prison was a possibility. Just dumb kid thoughts.
Turns out this movie was too good to be true, as I find out the lead in this "documentary" is also the director.
There were many things done well, but looking back there were a lot of holes. Still worth a watch despite the spoiler.
"The movie follows the life of Chicago burglar Kaspar Karr. Kaspar cases and robs stores. He counts up his score and a small interview follows where Kaspar introduces himself. He shows his expertise in social engineering, stalking and intelligence gathering and discusses his careful, meticulous planning cycles."
Not sure if any good as haven't watched

Just watched one on Butch Jones, he was one of the big players back in the day in Detroit drug scene. Then watched one on The Young boys, his crew.
White boy Rick is next, wow if that aint a story
for a thesparten worthy conspiracy I dont know what is. And that is actually real and can be backed up with facts.
Going Clear...
Felt bad for the children and their dumbass parents that subjected them to this life but otherwise an "Expose" on adults engaging in consensual behavior.
Had a hard time finding a villain.

Really? A Documentary on the character Batman. I just watched a doc on the numero uno Batman, that being
Adam West. With a name like that you gotta do something. They didn't say if that was his real name however.
He's in his eighty's now but acts more like a teenager. Always a kidder apparently. Guess that's why he made the role iconic.
The Queen of Versailles is just starting on CNBC.

30 for 30 "Sole Man". Sonny Vaccaro, one of the most polarizing and influential figures in basketball recruiting and sports culture.
Fantastic
Basketball recruiting; sneaker money - college coaches, Jordan, Kobe, LeBron; Nike vs Adidas, NCAA bullshit. No aspect of basketball this guy didn't influence. Great history lesson.

Devil and Daniel Johnston. If PFA was around back then he would belong here. His songs were brilliant.
Speaking of docs, whose got the rights to the upcoming,

Somebody's going to get rich!
Detailing Whitey Bulger's role with the FBI; basically was he a real informant, or just given carte blanche for doing favors for a few unscrupulous agents. If the latter, the FBI looks horrible.
Not sure if bullshit yet or not, haven't read up, but was interesting.
In the least shocking news of the day, the older daughter in Queen of Versailles just died from overdose.

Industrial Light And Magic: Creating The Impossible
A nice, newb friendly joyride through the development of the first Star Wars movie to the latest Star Trek films. Sorry kids, no stereo instructions. Makes more of a puff piece for people in Hollywood to hire ILM to do their next film instead of Peter Jackson. **** (4 Stars)

You ever read "The Pixar Touch"?
Behind every great company there is a key personality. I went through a jag of reading everything I could about Steve Jobs.
Steve Jobs gets bounced from Apple and starts NEXT. That turns into a failure and Jobs almost loses everything he has - but NEXT has the horsepower for graphics and this leads him to Pixar. Jobs stumbles this guy Lasseter and recognizes his genius. Jobs ends up making far more than he ever did at Apple to that point.
Of course Jobs returns to Apple after Pixar and the rest is history.
Tremendous story as I recall although I read it quite some time ago. Lasseter is god.
I don't know if you are more interested in the technology or the people. If it's the latter, this book is for you.
The Electric Universe - HD Documentary 2015 "This will change the world"
http://youtu.be/H4zniWIL_QA
It has to be the most mind blowing doc I've ever seen. If what is presented is true, mankind has nothing to worry about re: it's contribution to global warming and any possible energy needs.
This is has to be as mind blowing as the one above.
Zeitgeist - The Movie 2010
Just saw this now and without doubt it contains the greatest reservoir of killer one liners period.
A must see for anyone who believes "The Money Market" system is dead in the water and sinking relatively quickly. It is btw
This was put out in 2010 and from info provided in The Electric Universe there are, new clean, endless power systems just around the corner.
Could be a go at WWIII by then.

'Show em what you're made of', a doc about the backstreet boys on Netflix, was surprisingly interesting. Watched with girlfriend who loved them when young.
The current dynamic between them was weird, almost like a family with years and years of damage.. Four of the five are really fucked up. There was some hinting at the alleged abuse that some of them incurred at the hands of their old manager, who basically robbed them blind and later was sentenced to 20+ years for a huge Ponzi scheme.
They struck me as still being like teenage boys, only now they're like 40 and attempting a comeback tour.
Interesting view if you remember how famous they were.
I just remember trying to explain to a couple of tweens that the band was completely contrived, none of them wrote anything and had 100 handlers to make them look that good. They called me an asshole and a liar so I gave them the Rolling Stone interview with Lou Pearlman. They never saw boy bands in the same light again.
