My gut said likely fake, but no where near how shocked I was when he basically implied Trump was a pedophile.

Musk has severe daddy issues - there are some pretty dark articles and interviews both of him and his dad on the internet that goes into their crazy relationship or lack thereof. I think one has to consider the possibility that he actually looked at Trump as more than just a tool and genuinely feels betrayed by whatever fractured their bromance. It appears while looking back now at how Trump handled him that he may have even been playing into this to manipulate Musk.

When seeing it from that angle, it makes Musk's relationship with his trans kid, who is basically a trans clone of Musk, all that more interesting.

On a side note - Lewis' character seems almost cartoonish. This is the only really complete film of PTA's (this has been discussed before), but seeing even one scene out of this again for the first time in several years makes me realize just how much the directing, lighting, and production amplified his otherwise cartoon villainish performance. Now typing this I remember his Oscar acceptance speech consisted only of the lines "this is for Paul" and "... for Paul" over and over. Makes sense.
