You’re pretty hard on Druff, Sloppy Joe. Much of it’s deserved. Let me offer this though...

Druff has been a public figure for 20 odd years. In real life and with his online presence. Try to imagine the continuum of humanity he says, “hello” too. The needy or desperate sorts who frequent casinos. The radio randoms. The lurkers of 8th tier forums. Everyone in-between.

Who knows the nature of the DR & DRuff relationship. It may have been impeccable for ten years on whatever level it existed. . I doubt they were swapping girlfriends but there was some sort of relationship. Druff is, I think, a nice guy. We have all seen evidence over the years of Druff being generous with his time and advice for others in his circle. There are all sorts.

Druff taking his little buddy, Drexel, under his wing is a good example. Look how patient Druff has been.

I digress but I would NEVER choose the path Druff has chosen. Maybe Druff’s human experience is richer. I’ll take a rain-check. I suddenly recall a movie I am aware of but never saw, “The King of Comedy”. Drexel and other fallen comrades know. Druff has paid the price - and has a lifetime subscription too. This is just my random synapses firing.... apologies.

Hopefully, desertrunner can forget about PFA and go back to square one with Todge. Hopefully, DR forgives Druff.

The point I’d like to make is that I find more fault with Druff’s moderation than with desertrunner. This will please you SloppyJoe. None of this was good for the site or for desertrunner. Why it dragged on was a combination of bad choices that included the much sought after “forum hits” & his misbegotten belief free speech was somehow part of the magic.

I read clear evidence Druff has performed introspection on the matter and we will see what he has learned & internalized going forward.

If desertrunner forgives Druff I think we all can.

While I like desertrunner personally, and while I even like some of the content he brought to the forum, a few things are clear:

1) He is making zero effort to get along with anyone here.

2) He is refusing to understand why people here have an issue with his posting style.

3) He is viewing the entire thing through the lens of what he thinks PFA should be, rather than the way it actually is. You simply can't do that when you are new to a community. You adjust to it -- it doesn't adjust to you.


Therefore, it is clear to me that no matter how many restrictions, rules, and temp bans I lay down, we will get the same result -- chaos and irritation of the userbase.

Thus, I must make the painful decision to ban desertrunner. It gives me no pleasure to do this, and while I will still maintain a friendship with him outside of PFA, his time at PFA has come to an end.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

For those wondering, desertrunner is not mad at me, I'm not mad at him, and we are still good friends. This isn't just a bullshit public statement to keep the peace, either. He doesn't agree with the ban, I don't agree with the way he acted out here, but there haven't been any big arguments offline like you might be picturing, and we're both past it.

He's also not going to attempt to bother anyone he argued with from the forum, so don't worry about that, either. And in case you're wondering, he hasn't asked for info on anyone here, nor would I give it to him even if he did ask.

None of this is true... and a look at how he talked about me on the forum definitely shows he respects me. In fact, people even made fun of him for his constant positivity about me.

He just has a hard time relating to this community, and has a hard time understanding why people have issues with his posts here. That's part of the reason I gave him a long rope... he didn't mean badly. I've known the guy for 11 years and can say this for certain.

However, he also wasn't willing to try to see it from everyone else's point of view, so I had to ban him, as much as it pained me to do.

I'm sure you and others have people in your lives to where something similar would happen if a real life friend found a forum like PFA. It's just not for anyone.

And now that the facts about jewdonk have been explained there really are only a few remaining questions I have about PFA history. What happened to chinamaniac and drexel? Druff says in this thread that new posters should read more and post less so I do hope I've not been one to violate any of the unwritten rules here but I am genuinely curious about things that have happened. Nobody explained the board to me and I still have no idea about the truth social thread that was started a few weeks ago. Druff, the show, the history of PFA and all of you are fascinating to me. When the show and site began in 2012 my youngest kid was 9 and I was working full time and studying for my MBA so, playing poker and/or listening to poker podcasts just wasn't my thing.

I "seem" like a good guy? I'm pretty sure I offered to meet you at Grand Central a couple months back to deliver jalapeno cheese dip to you. I used to leave the tv on all night long. I like noise while I'm sleeping but not light. So I was looking for a podcast that was long and talked about poker and found PFA. After awhile I'd listen to the show in the car or at home if I was working around the house or something. I always heard Druff talk about the forum and thought it would be fun to be a part of it and it has been. I really enjoy it a lot. Its been super cool getting to know everyone, the dynamics etc. Thanks for saying that Frank.
