Wow, I thought I was unusual with this sex-never-happening-in-dreams thing.
Guess I'm not.
This is usually how it progresses for me:
- I meet a girl who is really pretty, really nice, and instantly has a strong attraction to me
- The girl is almost always completely fictitious. She does not look like anyone I've ever known.
- We sometimes get as far as kissing, but that's about it. When we try to go somewhere private to do anything else, either people show up that ruin the situation (such as my parents), the scene abruptly changes to something else (where basically a different dream starts), or the girl mysteriously vanishes and I can't figure out what happened.
I also don't have these dreams anymore, since I've been in almost back-to-back long relationships, and I guess my subconscious feels too guilty to dream up romantic scenarios involving other women.
I've never watched a full episode of "Friends". I tried to watch it once and had to turn it off after 5 minutes. It wasn't funny.
The two most common cliche dream scenarios I have are:
- I'm back in high school (occasionally junior high) for some reason. I am always my current age in these dreams, but my classmates are all people I originally went to school with, also attending as adults. My mind actually creates a backstory to explain this. It usually involves me getting contacted in some way that I am missing a few classes, and that I need to go back and complete them, or all of my diplomas and degrees will be retroactively invalidated.
- I am driving somewhere and can't control my car, damaging my car, obstacles on the road, and other vehicles. I almost never injure people, however. Still, I spend most of the time panicking about the consequences, and also wondering why I am suddenly so terrible at driving.
The school dreams are super-annoying, because they almost always feature the also-cliched storylines of not remembering my locker combination, not remembering where my classes are, or realizing that an assignment is due and that I haven't started it. These dreams frequently end with me realizing that the backstory is preposterous, that the whole thing has to be a dream, and I immediately awaken.
Agree.
Some of my opinion might come from my general dislike of the '90s, though.
I did not care for the 1990s. For the most part, I felt the music sucked, the TV shows sucked, the styles sucked, the attitudes sucked, and just the whole decade was unmemorable and stupid.
I don't see any charm from the 1990s.
To contrast, I was able to look back on the 1980s as soon as it was over and see plenty of charm.
I also think Jerry Seinfeld is annoying as fuck. I can't stand his voice.
The 70's were horrible.
So much bad and ineffective leadership leading to a bad economy, crippling inflation, huge loss of world standing. So many things went wrong. It was a really bad time to be in USA.
Why do I like processed cheese?
Par for the course. Anything you experience from around age 13-23 with pop culture sticks with you forever, it's the building blocks for how you judge anything after. I am about a decade younger than you, and I love everything 90's, and dont think anything in the 2000's compares (except television, but thats a whole other subject).
New sensible malapropism: "took it for granite". You've got a stockpile of gold, but believe that you just have a pile of worthless rocks.
To end the Simpsons series it's been rumored that the last episode will see the death of Homer Simpson? How will he die?
The ugliest women go to the store on Sunday morning.
That is SFweird - I have the same kind of dreams.. as BOTH the scenarios you mention here. The driving and not being able to control the car is fairly common for me, although more often, it is that I am walking but can't control my legs all of a sudden - they buckle under me and I fall to the ground and then have to strain to stand or crawl. (This ties in with the half-waking state I mentioned earlier). Interestingly, in the dreams where I am driving and the vehicle is out of control, something always happens at the moment of crashing or impact to change the dream, so no one one (including me) ever seems to get injured or killed.
In the school dreams, I am almost always looking for a locker, not being able to remember where it is, or not being able to remember the combination once there... or looking for a classroom and not finding it. I categorize these dreams with the "wandering/searching" (W/S) types we talked about before since that is much more the theme (as opposed to interactions with old school acquaintances).
A very common theme in my W/S dreams is I am looking for a place to move, and have arrived at a house which turns out to have dozens upon dozens of rooms... I am searching through the rooms to decide which ones will work best for my daughter and I. Often these buildings turn into small indoor cities, where one hall leads to more and more hidden spaces which turn out to be full sized apartments with cathedral ceilings. No idea why these W/S themes are so common for me, but I find it very interesting that I am not alone in this.
I had a nightmare recently - the kind that sticks with you the next day with very clear memories of the details. I thought it played out a bit like a science fiction novel.
In the dream, it was the future and an alien race had established itself as the ruling creed on earth. Our government was in cahoots with the aliens, and administering their special brand of control for profit. The government was pretending that there were no aliens though I think. (That part is foggy now.) There was a "Big Brother" feel to it as well - you couldn't hide from them even in your own home.
The aliens had the power to remove space between physical objects, and they were capitalizing on this by forcing people to pay for their personal space. For example, if you were not wealthy and couldn't afford the payment, you'd find that everywhere you went, everyone else was right up next to you, like riding on a crowded New York subway. But not just other people were right up in your space - nearby objects were as well - and the more time you had to spend with everything rubbing right up against you, the more maddening it became. You could be traveling and experiencing this horrible, uncomfortable environment with everything crowded around you, but just ten feet away you'd see someone of means sitting casually in their chair with plenty of space around them, enjoying a cocktail and reading the paper like everything was normal. It wasn't clear if the aliens were really removing the space, or just controlling your mind to perceive it that way.
There was a band of renegades who had escaped from the city, or the area of control, and were trying to live without any organized source of food or fuel out in abandoned places. I discovered this because I was able to escape off a bus I was on and found them while on the run. At the time I was on the bus, the government had made it clear they were watching me (I think they actually spoke to me over a loudspeaker or maybe a computer chip), and they were actively removing my space. Guess I had missed a payment? I actually saw the space between myself and everything around me shrink away by a good 6 inches). I remember a feeling of dread and horror. I somehow got off the bus (out the back door) and ran - I knew they were following me though. Eventually I ran into the renegades and was given shelter. Can't remember any more, but it was very intense and sometimes pieces of it still come back to me.
Why hasn't the *** OFFICIAL *** Buy a piece of Dan Druff in the WSOP thread been deleted? Does it still serve a purpose? Otherwise its just clogging up the flying stupidity lobby, which looks stupid. Its not a catch all for the next 50 WSOP's is it?
Well I am very happy today, as my computer had been acting up for a while. Explorer has been slow and crashing a lot. I loaded up Chrome and started using it, everything sped up and no more crashes. I cant believe I have waited so long to dump Explorer.... My fantasy draft is coming up in a few days and I don't think Explorer was going to let me get through it without two crashes.
Why the fuck are there so many threads about Micon on pfa? Who the fuck cares the guys a fuckin dbag loser. Ok I'm done grat thread I feel better.

My random thought of the night. I think it would be hilarious to hear Sonatine have a debate with Bill O'Reilly. The debate could be about anything.
I let a homeless women use my cell phone today.

Dick Cavette embodies my ultimate vision of male sexuality.

Saw an ad yesterday for the ThunderShirt. Its for dogs with anxiety disorder. Supposed to stop a dog from barking when its scared or excited.
Thought it might be a joke but its really a product.
Still, laughed like hell at the commercial.
Whenever I'm in Vegas I always give a few bucks to the guy with hands for arms who panhandles on the skybridge at Caesars.
We bought one for our Bassett Hound because he is a thunderphobe. Evidently he's one of the 20% of dogs it doesn't work on. It's supposed to make them feel secure because its so tight...almost like a constant hug from its owner. He proudly wears it though and looks damn cute.
Whenever I'm curious about a famous person's ethnicity, Wikipedia is usually the first place I check. But that information is very rarely included and I'm not sure why.
I am getting a miniature goldendoodle in the beginning of October. Here are two pictures of the little guy at 3 weeks.

I didn't know there was such a crossbreed. That's a very intelligent combo. I think I'd rather have a plain golden though.
real nice looking pup, i want to get another dog soon , dog with hair instead of fur, dogs shedding is no fun.
i agree with this poodles have be known to be the smartest of all dogs but not the friendliest so a little golden retriever (happy dog) in a poodle wold be a very good mix.
does it have hair or fur? and would be interested if it is a swimmer, poodles not so much i think
