A few things here:
Regarding me being "asleep at the switch" with The Templar, I will give the answer of "Yes, you're right, and no, you're not right." Say what? Allow me to explain...
I will admit to being a bit slow to put my foot down on him escrowing the PFA League money. This is mostly because I don't read league/contest threads, since they aren't particularly interesting to those that don't participate, and I generally only open those threads if I'm alerted to a problem. Don't get me wrong -- I'm thrilled you guys run leagues and contests here, but since I don't play (because I don't want the prize money), I also don't read the threads. If anyone alerted me earlier than I took action, and I didn't (which is possible), I apologize. It's possible I misunderstood your message, or received it when I was out somewhere and then forgot about it when I got home. I only realized the true problem of the situation when someone sent me a PM expressing shock that I would allow Templar to escrow anything given the suspicion about him, at which point I made that post requiring the escrowing to be done through me. I also sent Templar a nice, non-accusatory letter, asking him to send me the money because "some people are nervous, due to past scams that occurred on other sites", and he responded cordially, promising to send me all of the money. I only got $50 of it.
However, regarding people's suspicions, everyone kept asking me not to say anything. Since the money involved was rather small at the time, and since this was only a suspicion and was without any sort of proof, I didn't feel right possibly crying wolf about this. However, obviously I wasn't going to allow him to escrow anything in the meantime, and I stopped that as soon as I understood what was going on there.
It does immensely bother me that there's a good chance a scam took place here, and that's why I have changed the rules making it much harder for anyone to scam through this site. I cannot control when people loan/trade money privately, but the new rules prevent people from running "escrow scams" or unapproved, behind-the-scenes BAP/stakes that turn out to be scams. They also prevent seemingly generous guys from offering large contest prizes that they never intend to actually award.
I should have had the "no escrow with anyone but me" rule in place when I started this forum, and for that I apologize. This is the first time where I am running a forum by myself, and where I make all of the rules, so some of it is still a learn-from-experience process.
As long as i don't win Rookie of the year two years in a row I'll be fine with that!
We used to have a guy in our Pitch League who was Rookie of the Year 13 years in a row... oh and my ex-brother-in-law was named Most Improved Player two years in a row on his high school soccer team

If this was to me then save it. If not, then carry on.
To me, the most damning piece of evidence against Templar so far is his silence.
If he were actually out of commission and couldn't log in (due to health reasons), that would be a valid excuse.
However, he has lurked this site a few times since last logging in on the 8th, including once yesterday where he saw my post about canceling his league, and the circumstances surrounding that.
Why wouldn't he sign into his account and post an update at that point, if there were nothing to worry about?
I still don't believe he came here with the intention to scam people, but rather saw an opportunity when he quickly became very popular, and probably needed the money to feed his gambling addiction. This differs from guys like peterdc and Justin Smith, who are completely out to scam people and never intend to pay back. Had Templar kept winning in his gambling ventures, he would have paid people back. Once he lost the money and didn't have an immediate way to pay it back, he became hard to reach.
I am guessing that he was legitimately in the hospital, but it probably wasn't a stroke, and it afforded him the opportunity to make a great excuse to disappear.
Reminds me of the time I was pulled over for having no front license plate, and I quickly made up the lie that a piece of debris on the road had struck my car, knocked off the plate, and then rolled up the car and damaged the rest of it. The officer looked and saw the damage from the debris (which legitimately happened -- just it didn't knock off the plate, because I never put it there in the first place), and he bought my story, letting me off with a warning. So basically I used an actual unfortunate event (road debris fucking up my car) to make an excuse for something I did intentionally (didn't put on a front plate). It just all fit together well.
I think we have a similar story with Templar. He had to go to the hospital for something, and then thought to himself, "Hey, at least this will be a great excuse to disappear from PFA for awhile, and it will work because people can verify I was in the hospital!"
Of course, this is all speculation, but I just can't figure out why Templar would be reading this site and not responding if he is totally innocent.
(He hasn't been on -- at least from that IP -- since yesterday, though.)
I just noticed that Templar sent me an e-mail yesterday, shortly after reading the thread on PFA yesterday.
That at least excuses a little bit. Somehow the e-mail ended up in my spam folder, so I just found it now, but he wrote it at 7:22pm last night.
I'm not going to post the e-mail, but he claims that he is 'barely on forums' anymore, and is having a lot of health problems. He offered to have his brother deposit the money onto his Paypal and send it to me. I asked him to send the BAP money, as well.
We'll see what happens.
I can say that he has only lurked here a few times in the past 4 days, so it's not like he's been refreshing the forum all day. The part about the health problems might be true.
What if TT logged on and found it near impossible to actually read this site. I will be crushed if this dude had a stroke, not so much if he skimmed a couple hundros.
People are throwing around the figure of around a $1000, well I see no indication that's even remotely ACCURATE. I'd say at this point it's well under $400. Times like these are both epic and rare in a forums history ie new preventative measures so I urge PFA members to embrace them. Druff don't be tripping out like you failed or let us down, or think anyone is really angry, or break out the draconian measures, we're all just having fun going back over the clues in this rare/epic thread. You run a pretty tight ship TBH.
TheTemplar thanks for creating so much excitement, mystery and intrigue around PFA forums, I've enjoyed it and I've seen no one angry over their money, they're prolly loaded anyhow TBH Hope you get well soon, or spent that dough on a good cause.
TheTemplar if you needed the cash for some reason or you were actually running a long term hustle I hope you come back and tell your thought process and how it all went down from your perspective and maybe do a ask me anything thread. Did you really have a stroke or did you get your tonsils taken out etc.
What if TheTemplar needed the funds to pay Dr. bills? Talk to us TheTemplar, I would appreciate the hard cold truth.
In the unlikely event TheTemplar tells all, Hey fags, don't be asking for your money back either, it's gone.
Unfortunately it appears he was doing something shady (whether it was just degening away money that wasn't his or running a complex scam who can say) but there is the slight possibility that, as Jasep pointed out, he just ran uber-bad in life over the past few weeks; it does happen. I wouldn't hold my breath or take action on it, but maybe he has just had a Job-like streak recently.
Whatever the case, I sincerely hope he is ok physically
It was a joke that predictably went over your head.
As far as the golf swing... I know you are talking about a youtube vid that you saw from last year when I had just started playing again after an almost 25 year lay off. Of course it looked like shit, and I have admitted several times it looked like shit, and it was shit. You are seemingly too stupid to grasp that. Since then I have gone gung-ho with lessons from one of the top pros here in Vegas, who I am sure has straightened things out much more than some dude who seems to always pick the wrong side of an argument could.
Thanks for the offer though, I appreciate it.
:lol2
Honestly, is anyone really surprised that TheTemplar almost certainly rolled people? I always detected dishonesty in a lot of his stories beyond minor embellishments. From his 'can you believe this?' story about a friend doing blow and running up 1 BB into $3000 (or whatever it was) to that slot machine story where some guy died and he lost credit to his Taco Bell escapades where he shat in some girls toilet, it all seemed a bit...disingenuous. Obviously all of these things could have happened but the way he wrote them up always seemed fishy. They still made for decent reads, I just didn't really believe them.
If you contributed to his BAP and are surprised that he's in the wind, it's probably time to stop giving money to strangers on the internet.
That being said, I hope I'm completely off base and everyone gets their money honored. But if not, at least JSearles got rolled.
Does anyone here know his online poker screen names? If so someone could look him up on Sharkscope and see if he has been playing.
Haven't recorded myself on my phone like I did in that vid in a long time.
Only thing recently I have is this pic which I posted a few weeks ago...
I take lessons in a place where everything is recorded, broken down and uploaded to the home site of the training center. I'm sure if I really wanted to I could download those videos, then upload them to youtube, but that would require me to give a shit about what anonymous people on the internet have to say about my swing, which I don't. Besides that, I never claimed to be the next Tiger Woods, I'm just trying to be the best I can be. As of now I am competent enough to shoot low 80's on average, and am striving to be consistently in the 70's by next year. It will be tough though, and who knows if I will get there... But most importantly I am just trying to enjoy myself out there, which I have accomplished and will continue to do so.
Thanks for the offer though, and sorry for the hijack. Not trying to 408 this thread.
Wow ol Vegas1369 is getting pretty hostile, just messing with you, quit being a lil prissy bitch. Keep your left arm straight and try to be more polite to others.
You owe me $50 for swing analysis lol.
gl on the course
Laterz.
Couple notes:
I have his merge screen names, some of them anyway...
Someone approached me just a few minutes ago to tell me privately that Templar owes him last longer money and he had some alternate account names for the same merge skins.
If someone that I know wants those names to look in to anything hit me up...
Also, I know he text messaged a friend of mine 2 days ago for something unrelated
