Haphazard actions can be a problem because some Presidential decisions require careful consideration, analysis, and strategizing before making them. Trump seems to just get something in his head is a good idea, and does it.
In some areas, it's refreshing. We don't need long, drawn out studies to figure out if we should end DEI in federal hiring, or to keep men out of women's sports and prisons. Those are no-brainers, and it's nice that Trump unapologetically ends this stuff without any kind of waiting period.
In foreign policy, this can also work in some areas. His killing of Soleimani in 2020 was a good example. Democrats were horrified that he didn't carefully study the implications of the action. Trump thought to himself, "Fuck that guy, he's a longtime terrorist who has killed lots of Americans, we have the chance to kill him, and Iran is going to be too pussified to start a war with us." And he turned out to be 100% correct. Additionally, these type of actions resonate with other enemies, who realize that Trump doesn't fuck around, and is capable of anything at any time, which is a big edge.
However, other ideas of Trump's DO require careful study and consideration. DOGE, for example, is a good idea in theory, but it needs to execute its actions very carefully, and not just cut jobs for the sake of cutting jobs.
This Ulbricht thing, while minor in the grand scheme, is an example of an action taken without properly considering all the reasons it was a mistake. But I guess Trump owes the rich cryptobros who supported him, so this is one of the bones he threw.
