it was that I need not to worry. There is no squatters rights, and he isn't an official tenant of the building, he's a "long term" guest in my apartment.
that guest is now not welcomed by me or the owner of the building.
that guest now needs to go.
Sorry for the misunderstanding gentleman. He has no rights to stay here, regardless of how long he's been here.
This according to an actual real-estate lawyer who my landlord contacted after I told him of the situation.
Chicago has a "public nuisance" act. It's very broad and it's open to lots of interpertation but its still a thing.
so, all in all, this shit bag roommate is welcomed to try and fight this, but he can't. and i'm sure he's already consulted a lawyer about it, as he tried to do something like this a few weeks ago when construction workers were in our building an hour earlier than expected (he said he was contacting lawyers about the start times).
Also, all in all, you all can go fuck yourselves collectively, once again.
To think, that most of you would put up with a drunk as fuck roommate bc of "squatters" rights.
