Tom how did you become a member of this twisted little click of ours?
My good man he was anything but a sham, in fact if here today he would agree with my opinion of Lincoln.
It was with that very man that summer he didn't want to truly listen to and pitched the idea of a ship back to Africa and removing the stain of slavery (literally) from the country! Douglass has been quoted as saying Lincoln makes himself look "ridiculous".
no offense but Im putting a bounty on the n-word next week ;)
I'm no history buff, but I believe you're taking things out of context here. Frederick was initially a detractor of Lincoln but quickly changed his attitude towards Lincoln after meeting with him several times and going to several speeches. He was an advocate for Lincoln at the time of his assassination.
Yes I know but just because someone supports you does not mean they like all of your ideas.
There is no light switch in the human brain, I cannot dislike you one day and the next like everything about you.
Quite shocked this thread isn't exponentially more racist (on this board)
Well done folks there is hope...
If this is a clique it's a misclique.
I think I remember Tom coming here claiming to not be so and so when he is probably in fact so and so or maybe even the owner before so and so. Old sheboon would have had a holiday with the good uncle. I would have probably become convinced that he was micon, druff, or maybe even myself.
Today sheboon has been in vegas too long and even little dumb shit that I usually rise above is bothering me because it's a fucking chore to rise above the casino level up into the Ipanema tower. I think there are currently 2 of 10 rise above machines in service.
Also it is becoming more clear why so many people hate each other who grew up in densely populated areas. I swear to baby jesus that I'm gonna tackle the next person that suddenly changes path, meanders, or even slows down in what every non euron-word should recognize as a tight walkway. You get a two second apology window and if you fail I'm gonna accidentally trip and tackle you to the ground.
P.S. groups of people that walk three to 4 abreast slowly in tight walkways deserve 200 years in hell.
P.P.S.
Blacks walk so fucking slow. It's almost slow motion. I could stop and Betsy Ross the Confederate flag while these jiggaboos still haven't let me by.
Walking time from Ipanema to convention center
White: Seven Minutes
Chinamen: Eight Minutes (efficient but tiny baby legs)
Essays: 10 minutes (that weird essay strut is no no efficiento even with the white knee length socks poking out of basically Capri pants to cut threw the breeze)
Iranians: I wouldn't know. The putrid smell makes me either run past or turn around
Blacks: I've never clocked one but it has to be close to a half hour. It's this slow motion stevie wonder to the left and right shit mixed with loud laughter and nervous polite laughter from whatever white they trapped into conversation.
You couldn't possibly have meant this..

Yeah, you can. That's the beauty of being able to think freely. In fact Frederick admitted it himself:
Dude had the biggest hard on for Lincoln. Get over it.Quote:
In his last autobiography, The Life & Times of Frederick Douglass, Douglass referred to Lincoln as America's "greatest President". Moreover, the post-war (1865) ratification of the 13th Amendment outlawed slavery. The 14th Amendment provided for citizenship and equal protection under the law. The 15th Amendment protected all citizens from being discriminated against in voting because of race.[46]
On April 14, 1876, Douglass delivered the keynote speech at the unveiling of the Emancipation Memorial in Washington's Lincoln Park. In that speech, Douglass spoke frankly about Lincoln, noting what he perceived as both positive and negative attributes of the late President. Calling Lincoln "the white man's president", Douglass criticized Lincoln's tardiness in joining the cause of emancipation, noting that Lincoln initially opposed the expansion of slavery but did not support its elimination. But Douglass also asked, "Can any colored man, or any white man friendly to the freedom of all men, ever forget the night which followed the first day of January 1863, when the world was to see if Abraham Lincoln would prove to be as good as his word?"[65] Douglass also said: "Though Mr. Lincoln shared the prejudices of his white fellow-countrymen against the Negro, it is hardly necessary to say that in his heart of hearts he loathed and hated slavery...."
The crowd, roused by his speech, gave Douglass a standing ovation. Lincoln's widow Mary Lincoln supposedly gave Lincoln's favorite walking-stick to Douglass in appreciation. That walking-stick still rests in Douglass's final residence, "Cedar Hill", now preserved as the Frederick Douglass National Historic Site.
Ok , you are correct I am wrong, people cannot just smile and say nice things to make others happy as long as they got what they wanted in the end.
What did you want him to do, in the end say he disliked the "semi"-racist Lincoln and he doesn't support his move to free slaves?
We disagree obviously which is cool, free thinking right :)
Anonamoose loves healthy debate and respects all opinions Tom.
I must attend other business now down the road but enjoyed our healthy discussion gentlemen.
Until next time.

There's nothing to disagree about here? What point are you trying to make? Frederick Douglass referred to him as the "greatest president" and got what he was fighting for BECAUSE of Lincoln. Just because they had some disagreements on what should be done doesn't mean he hated Lincoln.
I mean there's no debate here, Frederick Douglass was an advocate of Lincoln in the end. There's no evidence that suggests otherwise, other than your shitty opinion almost 150 years after the fact. Notice how I'm actually presenting facts, and you're just going "well yeah that's just your opinion man." No it's not my opinion, it's the facts. Provide facts otherwise and then we can talk. Otherwise, like I said what is your point? There's nothing to prove here.
