the motherland already gets an annual allowance of a few billion, god knows why. wouldn't we love to see that put on a referendum... j/k. and we have already given them billions more for their war on about 300 hamas. why dear god are we giving them another 650 million more now? nm, it's not bc they control our govt. don't say that, you might ruffle kalam's feathers. wait for it, there is a response in the works detailing just what a small % of the appropriation this is.
The money all goes to American defense contractors. Americans companies with American workers. I understand you are America last and would prefer all the money be sent to Africa through NGOs where we get absolutely nothing out of it; but I for one am happy we are putting that money back into America.
$900 sole source hammers purchased with borrowed funds is America first?
Palmer Luckey is gonna be 50 lbs heavier by Dec 2026
The truth is most white collar work, in private industry and especially govt, is bullshit. The whole nation could pull an Elon, get rid of 80% of their white collar headcount, and shit would probably work more efficiently. But that would leave a whole hell of a lot of people out of work. Our economy is mostly a Ponzi scheme, and many Americans (especially white collar workers) are just welfare recipients at the end of the day. But some workers/industries are better than others as far as actually contributing positively to America.
If you want to have an ethical debate about making bombs for sand people 10,000 miles away to kill each other, that is fine. But as far as being "America first," Congress spending $1 billion (or whatever) for American companies to make military shit to send to Israel (which they will actually use, which adds a tremendous amount of value to us for many reasons*) is probably a fairly solid economic return for us.
*Again, ethics aside do you have any idea the value of Israel using our shit in the field to test it under real world conditions is? We could be paying them to take and test run our shit and it would probably be +EV for us.
The financialization of the defense industry insures that a great deal of that budget is delivered to shareholders. This has been a cornerstone of my Raytheon lifelong hold. Palantir was a late addition
It’s insane but it’s legal.
guarantee this guy thinks post op trans people need to be rounded up and fired into the sun tho

I have a lot of relatives in the medical field, some of them pretty high up in administration. You should hear some of the stories I have heard. The amount of "healthcare" that is just a straight up scam is pretty breathtaking. I suspect a lot of industries are like this. Maybe most of them are.
rinse, repeat.
in the meantime tho
let's talk about this:
The Role of "Qualitative Military Edge"
The U.S. is legally bound by legislation to ensure that Israel maintains a "Qualitative Military Edge" in the Middle East. This policy ensures that Israel possesses military technology superior in quality to that of its potential adversaries. Israeli officials argue that the sale of highly advanced U.S. weapons to any other regional actor, regardless of current diplomatic status, inherently threatens this edge and its national security
what another delightful law. have no idea where people get the idea that jews run our govt. nope, none.
Do you want to sell F-35s to Iran and Egypt? Most of the ME sucks, and we shouldn't be sending them jack shit anyways.
If it makes you feel better Trump is in the process of negotiating sales of pretty advanced shit to Qatar and Turkey, and Israel is bitching about it but he doesn't care. And I dont see anyone in Congress trying to block it. "Qualitative MIlitary Edge" is a broad enough term with enough wiggle room that I am pretty confident we could sell anything we want to whoever we want.
I don’t have as firm a grip on the health care waste and shenanigans but I believe you.. I do have a solid feel for writing sole source specifications and banging .gov for extras and change orders. You want to pahticipate in that world if only as a shareholder.
Defense is a tax (drag) on our society.
Good solid union work for Druff and desertrunner too.
Omar and her buddies stealing tax $$ and sending it to Somalia to fund militias is obviously very -EV with no upside to us. But even when it comes to scams, as long as it stays in house it is still benefitting us. When some black woman in Miami or San Fran sets up a fake homeless aid business, gets $2 million in govt contracts and blows it all on luxury cars and purses, that is still keeping $$ in house and benefitting the economy. One could argue keeping money in circulation this way is even better than some rich white person ending up with the money and putting it in bonds or securities.
I mean obviously we dont want things to get too out of control and turn into Russia or Venezuela, but we should also have a nuanced big picture view of what is actually harmful, and how harmful it is. And I suspect that Congress apportioning money for US arms manufacturers to produce military goods for Israel isn't particularly -EV, and I suspect it is actually +EV for the US in the grand scheme of things.
Again, I am not making an ethical argument. But I find most ethical arguments to be fake and self serving anyways, so meh.
American companies with American workers get some peanuts, that's true.
Given that defense contractors are legendary grifters protected from media govt and public scrutiny. You just know there's a Jewish muiltimillionaire's soon to be billionaires at every step of the way skimming astronomical sums.
I bet if you looked up who's who in all these defense contractors, vendors and what not, you'd find defense contracting is even more Jewish than Hollywood. Imo there's just no way it's not.
In other words, that money will end up in Israel too.
Sort of like Ukraine, even tho I haven't mentioned it, i've kept an eye on it.
I get sick of being right.
Let’s reign in the whataboutism so popular with Druff. Focus on defense spending. Omar isn’t helping matters either. It’s all EoT.
The U.S is, to some degree, borrowing to build missiles. In my opinion, national debt is our greatest national threat. Not some foreign enemy. I’ll wager you’re less concerned . We would likely agree 130% debt to gdp isn't exactly a feature.
Endless wars and ridiculous defense spending is a large component of the balance we see today. It’s interesting to consider that $6 trillion spent (borrowed) on the Middle East shenanigans once seemed a shockingly large number. We have spent more in interest payments on our debt in the past decade. As anyone who has a problem with revolving credit can attest things runaway rather quickly.
But yeah, more battle ships and foreign adventures. Congressmen will be able to brag about the portion of the largesse they are bringing home. No one but Rand Paul makes a reputation by being fiscally responsible.
No one but Druff is pleased with this turn in ideology by Trump. Not what I signed up for.
Is it really? For whatever reason Trump really seems to not like the IRGC. And it seems very personal and way beyond ME politics. I think part of it is he knows Obama/Biden (mostly Obama) put a lot of energy into normalizing relations with IRGC and containing Israel; so by doing the opposite Trump feels he is sticking it to them.
Remember in his first term he ordered the killing of their top general in Iraq kind of out of the blue. And then you have the support of Israel and direct strike on their nuclear facilities in the 12 day war, the Red Sea war against the Houthis (that was a draw at best for us). For whatever else he is, Maduro is an ally with the IRGC involved in their worldwide narco terrorism operations.
I kind of feel when it comes to his military doctrine, if you just accept Trump hates the IRGC and has no problem using the US military against them, their allies and their interests; everything else kind of falls into place.
