RE: The Chesnoff thing. I also wonder if he maybe advising Micon with a deduced retainer, considering its a charge related to BTC. Being involved in a high profile BTC case like this could be beneficial for him in the long run for future BTC defendants down the road (especially when it comes to taxes). I only say this because these lawyers AIN'T cheap and I really don't think Micon has that much FU money.
This fool reaped all the benefits of running an illegal gambling site and knew what he was getting himself into so HUGE LOL at anyone donating to his legal issues especially when if he never comes back to the USA they won't be that costly.
With that said a lot of people in the bitcoin community are generous so I wouldn't be surprised if he does get a decent amount of hand outs here.
From the reddit:
Pretty sure he is going to come back with, "No, I did not break the law."Quote:

I'm confused.. Are you fighting this charge? I think the law is absolutely fucked, and applaud you for what you are doing, but I'm under the impression you are in the Caribbean rather than getting arrested.
The only thing to do in the usa it seems is to plead guilty, unless you plan on taking it to the supreme court or something.

I know it's hard not to come across like a dick on the internet so please bare with me.. do you genuinely believe you have not broke the law? (regardless of whether or not the law is justified)
And I'm pretty sure he believes it.
I think some of you, who view him as a Martyr, forget how much he screwed over many of his friends, threw them under the bus, treated people like shit, and was a greedy, lazy shit who contributed very little in the grand scheme of things to Donk Down, while Druff did most of the work.
He posted the mostly-nude photo of Drexel, which would make me want to kill the guy, making Drexel is a bigger man than I, and proclaimed something to the effect of "DONT FORGET...I MADE THIS" when describing his website/infamy. He is a complete snake oil salesman, who will shill for anything if you paid him, and once we ghost-towned his site for the poor treatment he showed to all of the loyal followers, he then immediately turned it into his personal fiefdom of a bitcoin site.
I have no pity for him. I slightly admired him for turning a shitty situation into one where he apparently was going to "get away with his btc site and benefit financially", however that is now blowing up in his big-beaked face. I have no sympathy for him...I feel for his wife and child, who are likely stuck in a poor situation through no fault of their own. He either lied to them about this being perfectly safe/legit, or made away with a lot of money and has no plans on a return. If you are his wife, and you are an attorney, you have to have SOME desire for due diligence, and should have investigated a little bit into what the legal ramifications were going to be for his decision(s). Or, his attorney did a "DONT WORRY ABOUT IT...." routine and they think they have an iron-clad case. If she and the child fly back, that would likely be the best decision she makes. I would think that due to govt's and other high major business/banks/entities desire to shut btc down, that the NGC WILL want to make an example of him, and throw everything they can at him, just so no one gets any more ideas. If they go soft, it will not be enough of a deterrent to prevent others from attempting similar businesses. I am guessing they go for mandatory jail time and a $$$$$ fine, if not $$$$$$.
Anyone who thinks that "he's a great guy"....no he isnt. He is only nice to you if you can do something for him. He will give you some tiny amounts of btc, when they arent worth much, just to get you hooked on his poker site so he can benefit from you. He will sell you vape pens too. Its always to benefit him. I have yet to hear of anything he has done, that is out of the goodness of his heart with no benefit to him in some way.
I wish his wife and child well. He will be an annotated note in a wikipedia file about a legal case.
I think micon probably spent a lot of coin to get swc.eu up and running, From what I can tell the site is a complete fail, So if their is a run on the bank because of this felony I don't think micon can pay all the coin back
BTW, in case anyone is wondering, I am not posting on any other forums about Micon. I don't have a fake account on 2+2 right now (and I haven't since Kilowatt was banned).
I know that you may not necessarily believe me, but it's true. I am expressing all of my thoughts on the matter on PFA.
wait....did MICON create the Go Fund Me?
Jesus Christ....

Yes, and I'm surprised he used a pic of his daughter there.
I wouldn't post a picture of Benjamin for all of the internet to see, no matter what sympathy I was trying to garner.
I mean, if he were just Joe Online Poker Player, that's one thing, but obviously there are a lot of trolls he knows who could do nasty things with the pic, and I wouldn't want to open up that possibility. (BTW, please do NOT photoshop inappropriate stuff onto his daughter's pic here, as I will insta-delete that and/or post restrict people who do.)
I actually have seen several pics of Micon's daughter, but there's no way I would have ever posted them here, as any problems I had with Micon did not extend to his little child.

Gaming agents infiltrated Bitcoin poker site to bring criminal case
http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/la...-criminal-case
Quote:
A special agent with the Nevada Gaming Control Board infiltrated a Bitcoin-fueled poker website to help launch what authorities on Tuesday said was the first state-level criminal prosecution of illegal online poker.
Quote:
An arrest warrant was issued against Bryan Micon, 36, in Las Vegas Justice Court on Monday on one count of operating an unlicensed interactive gaming system.
Laxalt added that the charge, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $50,000 fine, marks the first prosecution of a poker site that used the digital currency.
Quote:
The Gaming Control Board first learned of Seals with Clubs in August 2013, when a Belgian resident complained about the site, according to an affidavit for arrest.
Quote:
In Skype conversations observed by gaming agents, Micon estimated that Seals with Clubs earned $10,000 to $12,000 profit each month.
Quote:
The agent conducted surveillance on Micon’s home, then collected information from his social media accounts, learning that he identified himself as the “chairman” of Seals with Clubs.
Quote:
On Tuesday afternoon, Micon Tweeted that he had launched a gofundme.com campaign to raise $100,000 for his legal defense.
Congratulations to Micon, Your the first!!!Quote:
His lawyer, David Chesnoff, declined to speak about where Micon was living.
http://www.bitcoinbettingreview.com/...ubs_closed.jpg
So looks like they logged into his Skype (probably auto-logged in from one or more devices they seized) and read all of his convos.
$10-$12k per month is actually about what I estimated Seals was making. I don't know if I ever posted it here, but in private conversations I told people I guessed $150k or so per year, just from eyeballing everything.
assuming he was working with a few other people, would it be safe to guess that he risked all this for maybe $50k/yr?
#sides at each and every rube who thought micon was getting rich off this.
He probably also made some good money on the appreciation of the bitcoin, but nobody knows how much.
Keep in mind that a bitcoin is now worth only about 18% of what it was at its all time high, so obviously he took a hit if he hoarded most of them.
Of course, that was a one time event, and not likely to occur again.

lol all my best Micon Photoshop creations ^^^
______
poor guy...
I almost feel sorry for him, but true to form, making bad decision after bad decision
his 'legal team' certainly isn't working pro bono, and won't be offering their services on a contingency basis since there is 0% chance of the government offering a cash settlement
which translates to Micon being out a shitload of money if he is truly dumb enough to fight the charges.
oh and LOL @ "Chesnoff & Schonfeld"

Whatever the day of the week, it’s a sure bet that somebody, somewhere, is getting into trouble. Maybe it’s drugs or assault or drunk driving. It could be an altercation in a casino or a misunderstanding with a prostitute inside a fancy hotel suite. If it’s the right person in the wrong spot, then you can wager your last dollar on one thing: David Chesnoff will receive a phone call and rouse himself from a deep sleep

Micion getting $1,050 in donations so far and poor OSA can't get a dime for his twinkcation? What is wrong with this world?
So umm who lives in Belgium?
Marty has summed it up.
Micon isn't a bad person, he just makes bad decision after bad decision. Choosing to fight this charge with expensive lawyers is just the latest
:baddecision
It was probably some noob who sucked at poker, lost a bunch of bitcoin on Seals, and then thought to himself "zomg rigged", and reported the site for breaking US gambling laws or whatever.
It is possible that the Belgian guy is a partially true excuse for why they investigated Seals, to where he was the first to complain, but in reality they finally took action because Caesars bitched or something. I'm just guessing here, but it didn't take 18 months for them to determine that Micon was "chairman" and that he was living in Las Vegas. Obviously something kicked the NGC's asses into high gear in late 2014 or early 2015.
And I'm guessing it was someone/something with influence in the state of Nevada.
this is turning more and more pathetic at every new page. 10-12k per month?! fuck i would have guessed much more. dude was making like 40k a year.
:lol2
unreal...
we need to start a go fund me to fly Martha and the daughter off the island.
isn't that fat fuck who never posts anymore from belgium?
do you mean, the portly scottish golfer?
I would be surprised if the Belgian was from here.
Almost 100% it was an idiot from one of the bitcoin forums who was awful at poker, and chunked off a ton of his coin there.
Those non-poker-community bitcoin guys are horrible at poker... and pretty much everything else in life that doesn't involve technical expertise.
Las Vegas man linked to bitcoin poker site facing prosecution

Quote:
Gaming officials said when the Las Vegas Sun reported the story in early March that they couldn’t recall any other instance where they had gone after an allegedly illegal website.
Quote:
Similarly, Laxalt said at a press conference today that he believes the charges against Micon are the first of their kind in Nevada.
Quote:
“Operating or otherwise conducting gaming in this state without a license is illegal, and the Attorney General’s Office will aggressively pursue individuals and companies who aim to evade our laws for illicit profit,” Laxalt said. “During my time as A.G., illegal gaming operations will be pursued with every available and appropriate legal remedy.”
Quote:
But Micon told the Sun in March that he didn’t believe he did anything wrong.
Micon was public about his affiliation with Seals with Clubs, and even though he was referred to as the site’s chairman, he described his role as more of a “marketing guy.” He said he didn’t control the site’s operations.
Quote:
“I’m a victim of the unfortunate systemic police state that has taken over the United States,” Micon said
Quote:
At today’s press conference, Chief Deputy Attorney General Jeff Segal said a warrant for Micon’s arrest is active across the country. But he said that Micon’s last known whereabouts was Antigua, a Caribbean island with a reputation for friendliness toward online gaming.
Segal said the state Attorney General’s Office will work with law enforcement to apprehend Micon and “bring him to justice.”
We should try to get a copy of the criminal compliant that was filed by the state of Nevada against Micon.

My mistake guys, it took in $350 a day in rake.
http://www.reactiongifs.com/lol/hawkings-lol.gif
I'd like to know who made (or allegedly made) the $1,000 "Anonymous" GoFundMe donation. Probably Chesnoff himself...
Micon's quotes make him look like a fucking retard.
the big difference here is that I beat my case and had all charges dismissed.
They are clearly going to try to make an example out of Micon since he had the audacity (and stupidity) to not only operate SWC in Nevada (lol), but to thumb his nose at the government and Nevada Gaming Commission
also, I was only out 2K in legal fees to beat my case
Micon is charged with a FELONY, his lawyers only benefit from billing him as many hours as possible
if he is really serious about going to court to fight this, he is going to be out a minimum 6 figures in legal fees.
an earlier poster said that he should just fly back and take a plea.....chances are he'd do 18 months in some country club minimum security facility. To me that sounds like his best option at this point.
He is delusional if he thinks he is just going to float into court and come out a victor considering how serious the charges are
officially an 'international fugitive' now
oh and he assumes that he is going to be able to operate Seals from Antigua. I seriously doubt that they take too kindly to some gringo blowing into the country and setting up shop without the proper licensing
epic fail from Micon as usual
godspeed sweet prince

(guess I have to make everything a Bitcoin discussion)
Note that the law firm I've retained, Chessnoff & Schonfeld, only take fiat currency. It is worth noting that I started a GoFundMe so that I could collect fiat currency, in that my personal safety and the safety of my family is at stake, fiat is more useful to me for this particular matter.
While I'll be bangin' Bitcoin until I die, and we've come a very, very long way, it's always important to take a realistic look at the world economy and not let our love of the blockchain make us exaggerate.
As a marketing guy you always are tempted to paint the rosiest picture, but I like taking a realistic approach.
micon is a fuckin loser.
hire ur lawyer with ur money u pathetic wannabe!
