Pretty sure they're going to hit Micon pretty damn hard if he comes back. They're going to make an example out of the kid.

This just happened:

I think this sucks. I hope he can get out of it somehow. 200 nerds playing a card game for cyber money just should not be that big a deal.
I understand that Nevada doesn't fuck around but sending this guy to jail does not protect society from any harm whatsoever. It's total bullshit.
I support the ability to play some fucking cards from anywhere, for anything from a computer. I enjoyed playing on Seals.
I am willing to lay 3 to 1 that Micon does little to NO time...
First time offender he will likely get some sort of deferred prosecution
Especially with good representation
I also would like to say it is disgusting to see the majority of you clearly rooting against him, just about everyone on here should be the ones supporting him
Was what he did a risk, yes
However Micon is a good person and is supporting online gaming (something we all have or currently partake in)
You all are a bunch of cop loving hypocritical faggots
This is a class B felony you dumb mother fucker. We're not talking a pack of gum here. Not to mention his tax situation. If you think he properly filed taxes on his illegal business then you are dumb as shit like I always suspected. I'm thrilled the mook is done. Fuck Micon.
:lol2
Also, he wasn't supporting online gaming. He was running Seals to line his pockets. Also recall that his partners later revealed that Micon never held any of the bitcoin at Seals, so he doesn't even deserve any credit for the site responsibly paying people. He had absolutely no control over the funds there.
I don't see why he should be considered a hero for running an online poker site which was clearly illegal.
If I ran a casino out of my living room, open to the general public, and got busted for it, would you believe that I was being wrongfully persecuted?
cheering against micon is fine. he was not very nice to us at nwp and it felt like he treated us as scrubs that were there to make him money. And since micon is really a scrub himself and not right about a lot of the shit he does, that rubs people the wrong way.
Why should online poker be illegal?
It shouldn't, but that's a different discussion for a different time.
The bottom line is that it IS illegal to run an unlicensed site, and he had a huge advantage in the market because everyone else who would have run a similar site (myself included) did not do so because of its illegal status.
Whether or not you agree with all laws in society, you are expected to follow them. If you choose not to, you can't complain about the consequences.
Basically, you can't just say, "Screw licensing requirements, I'll run my own casino without a license, and then claim I'm being persecuted if I get busted for it."

Antigua is a nice place but very expensive, if Micon has to leave in a couple months he'll probably head to Costa Rica next.
Lol at Micon's GoFundMe.....using a picture of his daughter? Really?
You offering me a draw? You killed all the romance this story held and crushed all hope of a good rap battle. I tried to play the upside but it gained no traction here. Just gonna be a lot of piling on.
Hope you at least offer me a GG son.
The WSOP still holds the potential for fun - but it feels like 12%.
My pupils are no longer dilated and I have washed the gin sweat from my face.
So yeah, the Micon story henceforth will just be silent & sad. I will resign early in a lost position.
jail time is the least of his worries, he got a fucking red headed child ffs
Online poker actually isn't illegal in Nevada. You can play it legally on WSOP.com.
He was charged with running an unlicensed site.
I feel that online gambling DOES need a licensing and regulation process, or otherwise the public will be victimized by countless scams and sites that take the money and run.
And, of course, there is no current legalization for 47 of the 50 states.
But even if you want to take the position that there shouldn't be licensing/regulation and anyone should be able to run any gambling site they want, there currently ARE laws against this, and Micon knew it.
He chose to run the site anyway, and he made a lot of money doing so.
I would have loved to have made that money, as would many other people on this site. We didn't make that money because we chose to respect the current laws, while Micon chose not to.
Authorities are supposed to go after rogue sites like this, or otherwise it makes a mockery of the existing laws, as well as punishes those who are following them.
Simply put, law breakers should never be rewarded over law followers.
Druff is definitely jizz pumping over this one.
But if my best mate also claimed he wished I died of a heart attack. Then I'd also be as giddy as Mr Druff.
Would still like to know who is paler tho.
Was Chesnoff always his lawyer? I recall seeing a different one in news reports; Chesnoff is a high profile lawyers for many poker players and celebs alike, and this bitcoin case is definitely an eye opener.
Is there a GoFundMe page to have Micon brought back to the US to face his charges...like a man? I would contribute to that.
The retention of Chesnoff (who is expensive) is interesting because it shows that he is expressing a desire to fight this, rather than just middle-finger everyone and resign himself to staying abroad.
Not sure how he's going to fight this without returning to the US, but I'm guessing he will use Chesnoff as a mouthpiece to basically broker a deal to where he returns to face the music if he is happy enough with the deal they offer.
I have a feeling they will tell him "no dice" with that one, and refuse to deal with him unless he returns. Otherwise it's too much of a freeroll for him, to where he only comes back if they give him a deal he likes, and he doesn't come back if they don't. Too little leverage of the state in such a process, and I doubt they will go for that.
He's paying big bucks for a lawyer who knows what a good deal looks like. A good deal in this case may not necessarily look like a good deal to Micon but he could take it nonetheless if his attorney feels it is. If Micon has as little money as I think he does then any deal that keeps him out of a major prison may be okay. If he gets a few years in a country club type facility then fuck it. Then again, this is Micon we're talking about here.
:lol2
Pity micon isn't British or European. We kinda have freedom over here.
Rules are rules, right tho Druff?
lol USA, USA
does anyone have a SwC account?
are games still running? any traffic?
OK my last rant didn't go great. But you cuts need to know I'm playing at a disadvantage here.
Druff you play poker and bet sports on Bovada and other unlicensed operators.
Would you be happy if the USA had online poker in 3 states only?
