Damn that Sarah Grant for asking Negreanu about Choice Center in this video.
I guess the media aren't in love with Dan Colman.
Reserved star or rich scrub? Colman causes question after $15 million WSOP win

this picture is funny to me... it shows all the attention towards Negraenu instead...

You must have missed the memo. Daniel Colman refused to be interviewed or even acknowledge that he won. He had to be coerced to get this promotional photo with the pile of money.
I suppose the media could have shoved their collective thumb up their own asses & rotated but probably felt that they should at least try to interview somebody pertinent to the situation since their bosses were so nice to send them to Vegas. You make it sound like the media ignored the winner to give all the attention to DN which was not the case.
Nobody should be forced to do media after a big win but if you refuse to do it then don't expect anyone to want to endorse you.
This is where the kid is leaving money on the table and some media outlets probably hate it even in this case given the fact the runner up Daniel Negreanu is considered one of if not the most media friendly person in poker.
from reading the stuff that he used to be a multi-accounter now I see why he didn't want that attention...
Good for this dude, leaving the media high and dry simply because he wanted no part of it.
Until ESPN, Bluff, Cardplayer et al actually give something back to the players for their time and efforts, fuck em. They need people like him, he don't need people like them. Anybody up for telling multi-billion dollar corporations like the Rio and ESPN to go fuck themselves because go fuck themselves, I'm down with.
does negreanu have to pay both the US and Ca taxes on his one drop winnings?
Colman definitely isn't morally or legally required to give interviews with ESPN.
In fact, after ESPN's poor treatment of me in 2005 (where they played cut-and-paste with my exit interview to change what I was saying), I had planned to boycott future interviews with them myself. (Actually ESPN contracted this out to a third-party company who was producing this stuff, but that's another discussion for another time.)
However, from reading Colman's statement, it isn't a protest against ESPN. It's a protest against poker.
He's basically saying that poker is a predatory game which is bad for society.
Now, I can understand people having a negative view of poker. It's true that most players lose. It's true that many lose what they can't afford. It's true that some with little chance to win are risking their money with the false belief that the game will lead them to millions. It's true that the marketing of the game has indeed led to some of these delusions.Quote:

This would be like an NFL player refusing to give interviews because he feels football ruins young lives, while at the same time being happy to cash his large paycheck from the game.
Daniel Colman is a hypocrite.
I know we've read rumors of his multiaccounting and other stuff like that, but at the very least, he's a hypocrite who is taking a moral stance against poker despite supporting himself with it.
Others have been coming to his defense with indictments of ESPN and other poker media, claiming that these entities are exploiting our community and giving nothing back. Had Colman taken the stance of, "I'm not giving interviews to a for-profit company (ESPN) until poker players start getting their piece of the profits. None of us should be expected to work for free", I would have applauded him. Instead, he turned it into a self-righteous indictment of our entire game and community.
For $10m I'd denounce poker players as useless cunts in general.
Instead of entering the WSOP main event, he should hand out pamphlets from gamblers anonymous.
Then do one final interview and give Caesars/Rio/WSOP the middle finger.

* giggling* at Coleman's reasons for refusing interviews
IMO he has a few skeletons in the closet, maybe he is gay or has experimented and doing interviews which leads to more exposure might cause someone to out him
It doesn't make sense, as the guy is a world class trash talker, issuing challenges and declaring that no one can compete with him
The douche is brash and obnoxious, not morally conflicted
coleman wouldn't be anywhere near where he is today if poker wasn't ever promoted... he should have done more...

Guy he's playing against is an online limit legend "BigGrapes". I watched him a lot online back in the day as he used to play the biggest games or some of the bigger games and would more or less play anyone. I met him a few WSOP ago and was at his table 2 years in a row and at the time I felt he was the best player at the table before he told me who he was.
He's actually had a very poor WSOP this year, entering a lot of events (including big buyin ones) and has just two 4-figure cashes (prior to this) to show for it.
He hadn't had a cash above $7500 since 2010.
I'm sure he feels relieved to have finally snapped what appears to be a 4-year WSOP losing streak, even if he doesn't win.
BTW he has really had a big comeback. Was down 2.2 mil to 800k, now leads 1.9 to 1.1.
I wrote up a new blog on Daniel Colman and my feelings regarding his thoughts on Poker Media along with the game of poker in general. This blog I spent a little time thinking about over the past few days and if anyone wants to read it the link is below:

I followed his thread on 4 for a long time. I used to play a ton of husng back in the soft days, and even then , I'd cruise up to around $500 level and hit a wall of unexploitable players. He's a freak 4 tabling 1k and 5k turbos and hyper turbos and adjusting on the fly.
All through it though he's been kind of an angsty bitch. Fucking brilliant player, but always apologizing for his behavior one day and then doing the same the next day. It's no real surprise for him to be all self-loathing about his profession in one breath, but he will be a dick tmrw still.
He's just a malcontent savant from what I've seen. His lack of name recognition IMO doesn't come from a lack of self promotion, but more from being just a dick.
He's the rare genius that plays in that top echelon, but seems generally disliked by everyone else at that level. Those dudes are always competitive, but generally a clique. With him it appears like they actually dislike him. He's got a great mind, yet manages to be uninteresting, which is hard to pull off. Pretty decent troll though when he gets talking.
He made his big contrarian statement with a lot of truth in it, and he's made enough money to ride off into the sunset, but he won't go anywhere. He will just continue to be depressive and whiny while stacking a huge amount.
For a couple years Olivier Busquet was the best HU SNG player in the world prior to Black Friday but Daniel Colman has been that the past few years making a ton of money playing HU SNGS.
Olivier Busquet was even buying a portion of Colman in the One Drop too. I'm well aware of who Daniel Colman is keeping up with and playing HU SNGs over the years. I've seen him whine a lot of times in games myself. He was not as bad as that guy stevesbets on Pokertars from years ago but still his whining when running bad was obnoxious.
With that said the kid has talent and this is his second seven figure score of the year. He can definitely make it in poker on his own but he will leave a bunch of money on the table from his demeanor and won't gain many friends which means he won't live a good life because you need at least a few guys you enjoy at the table who are sociable that you can hang out with outside of the felt in order to be happy.
Grapenthien beat Brunson heads up.
Beer and Poker I don't know if you saw this post I made in the other Coleman thread:
Dan/mrgreen also lucked out a bit from being a little bit of a dick. He would harass livb in chat and say how livb sucked and call out the hands livb folded. Instead of being vindictive and having mrgreen chat banned livb checked mrgreen's stats on PS These were the only site on which mrgreen had positive stats luckily. livb offered mrgreen free coaching and in about a year mrgreen was the wining-est? sitngo player over livb.

I'm aware of Daniel "mrgr33en13" Colman his history and follow hu sngs a lot including husng.com since I played quite a few of them over the years. Oliver Busquet must have just saw future money and wanted to mentor the kid since very few people are going to coach anyone for free.

From the cutoff seat, Bryan Micon raised to 1,600. In the next seat, on the button, was the chip leader Phil Ivey, and he reraised to 5,100. Play folded back to Micon, he gave it up, and Ivey won the pot.
"Nice hand, Phil," commented Danny Johnson from across the table.
Phil Ivey 412,000 4,000
Bryan Micon 30,000 5,000
Have to wonder how Ivey feels about Micon.
def has a fucking stack
soooo he laughed at you in the chat box once is what I'm getting out of this?
Lol at paying rake to appear on tv with zero ESPN compensation and then being surprised after someone doesn't want to be asked a million questions. Tell me other examples of people who appear on tv uncompensated while paying rake.
The final numbers for Negreanu are in. Still leaves me wondering how much he actually got from the One Drop and what his % of the Ivey bet was.
