Finally got around to watching this show.
I caught "Get Schwifty" on Sunday night. Ben's mom watched, too.
We both enjoyed it, and knew enough about the general backstory of the show to where we mostly understood it.
Will probably download the back-episodes of the show, now, and catch up.
Would watch it On Demand, but I hate hate hate how On Demand stuff these things with commercials and won't let you fast forward. Pretty weak. It's like, "Hey, if it's the station's commercials, you can do what you want with your DVR, but if it's OUR commercials, fuck you, you're watching them in full!"
Okay I jumped the gun last week, but Get Schwifty just gave me canceraids.
Decent chance they unloaded the weak puppy of the litter on Sunday and will return to form this weekend.
~Or~ this season is a catastrophe and they blew their load on the first 2-3 eps and thats that.
In any case nothing in the entirety of season 2 has risen to the level of the butter-bot scene.

And thats legit cause for concern.
The Roy arcade is up there for me, and Mortynight Run is one of the best overall episodes of both seasons imo. I'm still keeping the faith, brother.
Apparently the song Get Schwifty appears in the Rushed Unlicensed Adventure, which came out over a year ago. That and some other oddities in this episode suggest that this was a rejected script from season 1. This one's filler I guess.
Get Schwifty was probably my favorite episode
The "lick my balls" remark was likely a callback to the Doc and Mharti shorts that Roiland made long ago.

Before ever seeing Rick and Morty, if I had to greenlight one Justin Roiland's ideas for a series, that would have been on the bottom of my list behind Mr. Sprinkles and House of Cosbys.
so there's a back to the future thing going on here?
this... is not what i hoped for.
i laughed out loud. like 4 times. thats pretty amazing.
you're trolling that you never noticed that reference for the entire run of the series, right??
100% never noticed it until it was pointed out. but i also aggressively ignored/filtered the entire back to the future franchise.
KEEP SUMMER SAFE
deadly serious, it never occurred to me for even a second.
Get your shit together Summer.

So .. we're just going to collectively ignore last sundays episode right?
The floor is yours you fat slob
If you can handle it between cupcakes
I watched most of Season 1 on my flight from Montreal to Los Angeles.
I agree that most of those episodes were brilliant, and are probably better than most of the recent ones.
Still, the show still seems to have a lot of life left in it, and I don't think it has nearly jumped the shark yet.
The Scary Terry one was my favorite.
This was probably the worst episode yet, but the prior two were excellent. A hit and miss season of this show is still pretty great. I'll take it.
Sick foreshadowing at the start, too.
Quote:
"Hey! What are you doing?"
"A sequel."
"I don't understand."
"Yeah, me neither. We pretty much nailed it the first time."
Smells like another setup to me. Like we collectively didn't catch something they will throw back into our gook faces later.
Also I think my favorite episode so far was the one where they Cronenberg up the planet.
Lame unless you have no idea about quantum physics

Ehn...
Its not like I regret watching it but you know, I feel like the real glory days are behind us largely.
They've been breaking the fourth wall a lot lately, commenting on the show itself. In the opening scene this week, Rick refers to this "mixed bag of a year". Last week he openly questioned why they were revisiting the interdimensional TV thing, as if knowing it was going to suck. The fact that they're acknowledging this suggests to me that this season was rushed and they know they haven't been doing their best work.
There's several other examples of this, mostly lashing out at dumb fans. I kind of like the aloof attitude and not taking it all too seriously.
As I said before, I'll take a mixed bag season. There's been some great ones this year.
B.... Birdperson...
Also pretty sure I saw a mugwump at that wedding.
Prettttyyy.. prettttttyyyyy suuuuuure....
The finale was outstanding. LOL at the entire internet asking what song that was at the end.. I'm so old
QUAAAASAAARS SHINE THROUGH ENDLESS NIIIIIGHT
Best part of that wedding was dessert.
Wow... really like 18 months between seasons, huh?
That's brutal.
Can't Turner give this damn thing a budget, since everyone loves it?
