Plus their Canadian dollar is worth less here.
The exchange rate has been steady for decades. Despite losing 25 cents to the dollar on average Canadians have been the number one tourist to the U.S. repeatedly.
Mexico is second. That money is not replaceable. Don't threaten your neighbors/allies. We take it very seriously.
So what is your prediction on the July numbers?
Visitation should be down 25-50% vs July 24 based on the nonsense videos you seem to be falling for, or promoting for some reason. .
Is 5% even noticeable or is it as I said, grifters jumping on a bandwagon looking for cash for clicks?
Which makes more sense?
By the way, I like Jacob but he’s as grifting a grifter as you’ll ever meet. This is his living at this point. What’s next, a Vegas Starfish video?
The Boz: Thankfully we don’t and will do just fine if another Canadian or Mexican ever visits again. Alan Thicke was the typical Canadian scammer we don’t need here.
New America. No factories/jobs. No trading partners/jobs. No tourism/jobs.
Voted for and by your representative/you
Heads up, these significant numbers are the result of only six months of administrative chaos.

[QUOTE=desertrunner;1163262]Again what does “suck” mean?
I agree July and August will be down in visitation 5-7% YOY. BUT if profits are up does it really matter?
Sure it’s not a great long term trend to be losing customers but I’m still not sure what customers are being lost? If it’s low end customers with small budgets it’s really not a big deal.
I’m open to watching this play out but still believe way too many are falling for the narrative a few are pushing online for clicks and the always wrong media jumping on it because they are plain lazy for stories.
Druff first turned me onto the Resort Fees on PFA about 2-3 years ago and I knew right then, it was only going to get worse over time as they are pulling those back. Then over the next 2-3 years, I am watching the Indian casinos flourish and do better here in California, I would write about it some here from time to time. Then over time, I know it was just going to get worse with the Exec bonus and typical greed.
Now here we are, just as I pretty much figured, the California casinos killing it and saving the Cali people the long desert drive. It was just slowly building up over time and now Vegas is killing itself and wants to keep blaming COVID.
[QUOTE=desertrunner;1163262]Hopefully we agree Vegas exists because of tourism dollars.
Vegas does not exist without the gambling, the glitter. Countless small businesses exist because of this economy.
A corporations sole purpose is a return on investment.
When numbers decline (tourism) so does ROI.
Price increases are only the beginning
How to explain a decline in tourism, ROI, and local business failures?
You better identify this problem.
Hint hint don't read truth social
Hard to imagine financiers of multi million projects, such as hotels and casinos just got their numbers wrong. These are long term investments projected to profit based on current trends. No offer presented would include the thought that the main source of income/returns would suddenly shrivel
Covid of course was just such an unpredictable factor in revenue stream. They withstood that.
The latest hit to the income stream, a decline of customers, is no different except it was 100% avoidable.
Agree that blaming Covid is BS. The casino corporations are drowning in debt for multiple reasons, but in 2025 COVID isn’t in the Top 5. I feel they are trying to see how far they can push retails, fees and poor gaming until they hit a breaking point in an attempt to increase profits and pay debt service. As I’ve said, time will tell at what cost to visitation it causes, and what customer is lost?
As for Resort Fees, it’s been over 12 years Caesars followed MGM and others in adding Resort Fees. Up to that point they advertised No Resirt Fees to differentiate themselves from their competitors. However they still nailed you for fees for WiFi and other stuff that they argued would “save” customers money by bundling them. No one argues they are a scam but I still argue even with resort fees Vegas rooms are cheap.
https://lasvegassun.com/news/2013/fe...ng%20otherwise.
To my point where can you get a room in a major US city for $70 with fees? Of course the $50 in resort fee is BS but this is for anyone off the street with zero status.
This rate is available many weekdays in the next 2 months. Sign of trouble or just a great deal?
Love the mature discussion in here, some good opinions and insight. Hopefully Druff will check-in soon, he usually has some good feedback.
Thank you
Please explain your statement that "we will be just fine without any tourism dollars from Canada or Mexico."
Businesses based on tourism revenue are not built for lean times.
Exporters, importers and a multitude of small businesses have no grace against bank loans. When the big boys retract others are involved.
Post COVID the cost of doing business did not suddenly explode in the U.S.
Economists agree. What do you know?
For you and I, this is a good price. BUT there are a lot of super cheapo people here in CA that gripe when they crack open their wallet. I always use the example of In N Out Burger- sure its a good price, but cheap and that's really what keeps bringing them back.
I think some people here keep forgetting there are a LOT of Indian casinos here in Southern California and they are doing super well. Why drive or fly to Nevada when its all right here.
I know a retired friend and he and his wife just trip on over to the local Indian casino in San Diego County, no need to drive far for their BINGO games.
Las Vegas needs to do it a lot better and start offering BOGO rooms and dinners and work out cheap (SWA, Spirit and Frontier) flights to get the cheapo's to start coming in.
Are you suggesting the number one and two sources of income (Canadian/Mexican tourism) have relocated to non Vegas entities?
No. Canadians have collectively reacted to the political and economic threat
posed by your convicted felon leader. Sadly anything south of the border is now viewed as suspect. One person has literally threatened our livelihood.
It may not resound with all Americans just yet. But it will end a century old relationship that has benefited the majority.

If you look at the comments for all the videos I have posted lately, you will see hundreds of people saying Vegas sucks because of the prices and fees. This is the overwhelming majority opinion about Vegas these days.
Aria sent me a email saying $39 a night for up to a week plus they throw in food credit.
My Caesars host keeps calling with offer of free up to a week plus concert tickets and a dinner.
The crazy thing is the very best offer I got was from princess cruises. 6-16 day cruise in a balcony room, $500 casino credit, free drinks. All I have to pay is taxes plus they make you put down a $400 deposit that gets returned to you in shipboard credit (can withdraw it from casino on day 1 if you want). Im thinking a 15 day to Aruba and back for next to nothing in a balcony with food and drinks paid for sounds much better than anything vegas.
I’ll def be in Vegas this Sept and then Nov, the deals will be crazy sweet by then.
No clue on what and at what level you play but from the offer I would assume at a decent one.
Question for you is with the cruise….if you play slots, do you trust them on payback? And on BJ, how much does continuous shuffle, if anything, cost you?
Not a cruise fan so I’m biased but it’s an honest question. Thanks
Not a Trump issue, but thats a Saturday night at 1AM in Vegas...

He says Vegas is the emptiest he has ever seen it, other than peak Covid (2020).
The point is, Vegas is a ripoff. This is echoed in the comments.
And another report:

As I mentioned 3 posts higher up:
Tourism down 6.5%
Gaming Revenue down 2.2%
(This was for May 24 vs May 25)
It appears the numbers will only be getting worse. Also, I don't care if Vegas does well or not, but I think corporate greed ruined the place...
Random note- Here in So Cal, the local Indian casinos are advertising on TV all the time. Any Las Vegas advertising- Nope. Those funds go to the Executive Bonus fund.
Who could have thought that making nearly everyone leave a loser and nickel and diming each customer would lead to them not wanting to come back? Crazy stuff...
The latest report:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOygIs4x2tY
Room occupancy down 17%
RevPAR down 29%
(that's Revenue Per Available Room)
(July 25 vs July 24)
Love it, PFA is kicking ass again.

Was just looking at tickets to the RISE festival in October...
$250 + for tickets??? And Those are SOLD OUT for Night 1!!!
Can't imagine what J-Lo and Dolly Parton re-sale tickets are going for, but probably not much considering the senior crowds will be attending those shows, lol!
At least my ROOM will be comped for my Vegas trip this year!
