Permitting has stalled where I am. I have a bunch of customers who are trying to renovate their houses keeping under the 50% FEMA rule which is tough since a lot of these houses were built in the 60's so the lot value is a million but the structure is only $200k or so and to fully renovate a house for $100k considering these homes were basically ripped down to the studs it's almost impossible. So the state is pushing for tear downs and complete rebuilds at 12 feet or whatever the new standards are. I can tell you after this the islands near where I live will look completely different in a few years. They are tearing down houses galore right now.Quote:

I will tip my hand here a little, I am an expert on the California Fire Service (CFS), I have followed the history since the early 90s. I know the CFS like Druff knows the poker scene. Anyways, as we talk about the LAFD female fire chief, years ago the city of San Diego FD was the first to pull the DEI female fire chief card and it failed miserably. She pulled the worst stunt ever and some of the firefighters sued. I guess LA didnt get the message...

One more- The city of San Francisco had to hire a female fire chief and she failed out as well. The one item that still bothers me is when she was asked about the one special exemption the SFFD has- their own special fire hydrant thread pattern so no one else can come into their city and offer mutual aid- She responded with- We will hand out special adapters at the city entrances. Total BS and never happened. Why the California State Fire Marshal (CSFM) granted that exemption, I dont know, but it still stands today.

As far as I know, this has happened only 1 other time in CA history- Las Vegas fire units in LA County. Druff will like this and hope it makes radio. Note- The yellow Clark County engine has a new graphics package.

Note- All of these out state units coming in from AZ, ID, NV, UT, etc- those are going to be expensive bills to the state of California. Maybe CA can use some lottery money to pay them?
