Fox to San Antonio, Zach Lavine to Sacramento and picks to Chicago.
West is loading up while the Sixers blow a 26 point 3rd Q lead to Boston.
The Kings just got a better return for Fox than Dallas did for Luka.
I follow Haralabob on Twitter and listen whenever he goes on Bill Simmons. He never explicitly said it, but from what he did say my reading between the tea leaves understanding is Doncic did get upset at him for leaving a blowout loss early (he said he was going upstairs to work on his laptop which he often did at the end of games that were over already, but Luka took offense this time because he was salty from getting blown out), and that may have contributed to his ouster from the Mavs, but Haralobob didn't take it personally and get petty about it. He has always stated he believes Luka is a generational talent that could be even better if he cleaned up his diet and conditioning.
Also, I was listening to another Ringer pod where the host was explaining the Mavs GM is not just friendly with Davis and his agent, but also very friendly with Pelinka (Lakers GM); so that could have influenced why Mavs didn't shop Luka and just went with the Lakers offer. If this goes bad and he gets fired wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in the Lakers organization or working with Klutch down the line. That is how these things work.
philly will always be trash until they understand the chicken cheesesteak with marinara is a far superior sandwich compated to the average cheesesteak
bro i was factoring white american and cooper sharp/provolone you fucking terrorist
Was a little worried about Luka conditioning to lay 13, but knew they’d come out firing and the arena would be nuts. Kind of mad I didn’t bet more. Such an easy spot. Lakers are a decent rim protector away from being top 5 contender. Maybe close as is. Ball movement is going to be elite.

Nice hit.
You were right to worry. Luka didn't have a good game, at least not so far, but they're blowing out the Jazz.
Somehow this team was playing over its head, and still is, so they are winning despite Luka. Well, that and the Jazz suck.
You wouldn't expect a team of a 40-year-old Lebron, Rui Hachimura, Austin Reaves, and a bunch of nobodies to be crushing good (and not so good) opponents midseason, but somehow they are. Very unexpected. This year seemed to have fail written all over it, especially with AD being injured again. Instead they are the hottest team in the NBA right now, even with AD out. If Luka shakes off the rust and conditions better, this could be a very tough squad.
It's amazing how good he is despite his weight, just lays waste to teams in the postseason.
Nothing still makes any sense. A peak Anthony Davis with zero injury history would still have been a thin return.
I don't like watching Luka but he's undeniable.
Probably 3-4 guys in the whole league that have better long term value than Luka - Wemby, Jokic, SGA and probably Giannis.
The return of an injury plagued (already hurt, lol) Anthony Davis and scraps is unconscionable.
Two ball dominant players playing together is one of the hardest adjustments to integrate. Even LeBron Wade in their primes was an uneasy fit for a full year and offensively was always less ideal than what you’d want. They were so intense on defense it didn’t matter.
The weird part is LeBron for last 2 weeks looks like he’s blood doping like a cyclist.
He has played at higher level energy wise than I have seen him play since Cleveland. He was a dog on defense even and I havent seen that in years.
A month ago you’d just naturally say go play off ball and let everything run through Luka, but given how he looks, both guys are going to have to feel it out. The thing that makes them so tough is LBJ, Luka, and Reaves are legit 3 of the highest Iq players in the league so you’re always gong to have someone on the floor who keeps the ball moving for good looks.
Assuming health and Luka plays into shape, the only real problem they’re going to have is the good teams with big guys. Denver and OKC, especially assuming Chet is healthy come playoffs. They could get killed on the offensive boards. But Luka and Lebrons sheer size helps a little. They can make it hard to dominate on the glass. Both take good angles to rebounds and use their width well, but still need a rim protector 7 footer just for matchups against certain teams.
Considering it looked like a dying team about to roll into irrelevance in a few years, it’s amazing how they rolled Dallas if the league didn’t fix it and Pelinka just hustled a tard GM. The future becomes bright for a decade.
So 4 other foreign born players and Boston probably doesn't do Tatum either given his durability and fit. Personally I move Giannis for him as he seems to be getting unhappy and he's now 30. Luka is better than Tatum, but that would be hard sell to Boston fans. The funny part is this Nico dude hangs with all the old head American players. As an old head, I laugh at how the retired American black dudes really still don't get it.
I love Barkley, but from Golden State can't win shooting those 3s a decade ago to a hundred other retarded things, they just can't come to grips with the young American players aren't keeping up with these best from around the world right now and how the game has changed.
There is maybe 1 American in top 6 guys and all the best American players are aging out of the league. Edwards game isn't polished and I am not sure it ever will be. It is like that trade was orchestrated from some committee of dumbass old American black dudes sitting around talking about the good old days and how AD is like them back when the game was all dunks and defense. It's that ownership didn't put a stop to it that is fishy. The stands in Dallas are open seats everywhere, protests outside, ejecting fans from stands, death threats to Nico. Add in AD immediate injury because they rushed him back to take heat off and it is worst case shit show.

Throwing fans out for t-shirts, signs, and now for even mouthing the words "fire Nico" is over the line. The Cowboys are obviously more popular in North and East Texas but the Mavericks per capita are 10x more beloved here. I'm in Texas now and this is still the thing everyone is talking about. Dirk is by far still the most respected athlete and celebrity here as well. His two decade long tenure of doing things the right way ended with what should have been the good karma of keeping someone like Luka for life. It's unforgivable, and no one would blame him now for taking a job with another team and disassociating himself with this franchise entirely until there's new ownership. Fuck this version of the Mavs. I hope, and it's looking more and more likely to be the case with his latest comments, that Kyrie opts out this summer and signs somewhere else - hopefully with the Lakers for extra emphasis. Why would any player of any standing ever want to play for or trust these clowns again?

Meanwhile, the Blazers did nothing at the deadline, presumably because they had miraculously won 9 of 10 leading into it.
Shocking level of apathy for a rebuilding team with multiple tradeable vets.
Not Dallas level bad management, but not far off. If Simons, Grant, time lord, and even Ayton are still on the team beginning of next season, that should be grounds for dismissal
Watched both Laker games. Luka looks fat and slow. The only center on the roster (Hayes) who isn't even any good got hurt early in the 2nd game. They got Len on the buyout market, but he is a slow offensive center who wasn't even playing on whatever bad team he was on, and the Lakers need someone with more spring to play defense and catch lobs.
Luka looks like he has to lose 20 pounds and the team isn't really constructed around his skill set. They basically have 3 big, slow point guards in their starting rotation. Reaves is actually playing very well, but his skill set is very redundant with Lebron and Luka.
Lakers aren't going to be able to stop any athletic team. They dont really have anyone in their starting rotation to guard any perimeter players. They are going to have to just try to outscore them.
Maybe overs are the play if books don't adjust quickly.
Kyrie looks like he may have torn his ACL. Trade for AD and he plays one game and is out. Entire team on the wrong side of 30 and injury plagued. Meanwhile the Lakers somehow play better defense now than they ever did with AD and Luka still isn’t in shape.
Mavs were in the finals last year and only a few teams had better future. Now they have an old and injury plagued team heading for the lottery. Truly staggering.
Aren’t things going according to plan for Miriam Adelson? The likelihood of the franchise moving to Vegas grows with every passing day.
My distance from the NBA probably gives me a unique perspective
The last I used to follow NBA daily was when Kyrie was on the Celtics. It devolved into hate watching and well, Kyrie is AIDS for every team he plays on
You really cant make this up. They just announced today they are raising ticket prices 8%. Maybe the plan really is to get Dallas to run them out, so they can relocate to Vegas?
And we still haven't really gotten an explanation for why Cuban sold. The rumor I have heard is he lost a ton speculating on Crypto and had a liquidity issue. Even then, he really couldn't get a loan against the value of the franchise? Really weird.
In other news, I am watching ESPN and they are asking Flagg if there is any chance he is going to play another year of college. How in the world is he supposed to answer that.
As to the move and whether it was Adelson’s plan, I legit have no idea? How can you move a team out of the 4th largest market? But it looks like what you’d do if you so wanted to piss off your fan base so badly that you somehow move a team out of the 4th largest market. It’s a great time to own a private security firm between Nico Harrison and all the CEOs shook after the Luigi shooting. They better have the A team on Nico. He’s at more immediate risk.
Miriam Adelson has that older Penny Marshall vibe
Nothing about it makes any sense still but it's all been covered to death, aside from why Cuban sold.
Pretty much playing out as expected in the short term; injury prone AD gets injured and Luka (still out of shape) looks amazing because he is amazing and surprise, pairing him with one of the greatest players ever is working out.
I really expected something scandalous about Luka to come out like an affair with a 15 year old and the Lakers just decided to take a PR blow for the talent play long term. But just more about how he drinks and is lazy.
I understand the reasons behind shorting Luka's future even if they're dumb. But for Anthony Davis and Max Christie, man..
Torn ACL, which is what it looked like.
Another unexplainable thing Dallas did which has gotten less press for obvious reasons was getting rid of Grimes for Martin (who is also always hurt and has kind of had a meh career except for the crazy playoff run with Miami 2 years ago). Maybe there is some advanced stats saying Grimes sucks, but whenever he played in Dallas, and now in Philly, he filled up the stat sheet pretty good. Points, rebounds and assists.
It should be pointed out that 32 year old Kyrie, who has an extensive injury history, led the league in minutes per game since the Luka trade.

I hope he gets healthy quickly and opts out, hopefully he even demands a trade before the end of the next season.
Haven't seen a franchise meltdown like this since the Lakers made it to the Finals in 2003-04, and then went 34-48 in 04-05 after shipping off Shaq.

I would like to see someone do a good guesstimate on how much the franchise has been devalued and how much revenue they stand to lose by this. Every single sports fan I know in Texas is out on the Mavs. They'll still sell tickets to the casual fans, but seriously, I will not buy merch, tickets, or watch games until these fags are gone. There has to be hundreds of thousands like me.
Meanwhile Luka on pace for a 40 point triple double while Dallas is bussing in G League guys to finish the season. I don’t know how Nico still has a job and the arena isn’t in flames. That he has a job has to make you take the Adelson long game con over gambling or Vegas more believable every day. There is no trade in any sport to even compare it to.
lakers chain guy gif vaughn as it always has been we are inevitable
Yeah the little moves he made at the end of the year last year were smart, but all complimentary players to Luka. Now they have too much of the same shit even if healthy. It is really hard to be shocked at anything and a month later I’m still trying to figure out how it’s anything but a straight con.
lakers cuck you shitty nerd franchises constantly what is hard to understand
Still in shock regarding how good the Lakers have become, even pre-Luka.
And they did it without any meaningful contributions from AD, who was injured during most of it, before getting traded
I really thought this year was going to be an embarrassment, with Lebron finally aging into a little bit of a decline (didn't happen), AD being injured a lot (did happen), and the rest of the team sucking (didn't happen).
Pretty decent chance that the Lakers are the Western Conference champs, given the Luka addition.
Now Lebron broke the 50k point mark.
The only negative for Lebron this year? His son sucks as much as everyone thought. He went 1/3 with FG tonight, and actually improved his FG %. Kid can't shoot, and he also doesn't have size going for him. He will last in the NBA for as long as his dad is around, and then that's gonna be that.
this is me and todges 2025 lakers song ask what we wont do

My book still has Lakers at +500 to win WCF. That is second. OKC is nasty. But unproven and young. I don't know if I would say Lakers are likely, but I know I would rather be getting 5-1 on Lakers than laying -155 on OKC. They could run into a revitalized GS earlier than OKC, but I think the Lakers two headed beast is too strong for Steph/Butler. Denver doesn't appear to have it, and that one game was impressive, but it is still one game.
Luka needs to be playing like prime Luka for 40 minutes if necessary, by then.
I don't think they can beat Boston or Cleveland. I think Cleveland is worst matchup just from a roster construction perspective for Lakers just given the two bigs and depth that can run off 12 straight when you have to sit one of them. They ate up the Lakers inside in both meetings with AD this year. Different team now, but I don’t think that advantage changes. But they likely won’t have to play them. I still think Boston is probably 65-70% to beat Cavs if fully healthy. But Porzingis is not often fully healthy, and Jrue is getting up there, Cavs will have home court, so not impossible. I really don't think anyone in the east is even close to those 2. Knicks can't beat anyone with a winning record. Bucks are tough series, but a tough one you win in 6.
Either way, like Lebron and Luka are the type of guys you can count on one hand in all NBA history who can just take over and elevate almost anyone to the finals. So nothing would shock me including winning it all. Plus the NBA would just love that story, so they are going to get some calls. SGA gets really cheap calls. A Lakers-OKC series would be strange I am guessing for SGA when he all of a sudden isn't getting that whistle for touching him. They might fall apart.
The Luka / Dallas question immediately leads one to search out Haralabos Voulgaris.
I have been off Twitter as a daily habit so I may have missed what Bob had to say.
I was told he had something to say on a recent podcast.
https://youtu.be/eQF1oLwdWcM?si=cOYWxfWXMcC9u_zy
The pod is fantastic @BCR. I have a huge crush on Haralabob. He is my favorite of our crypto poker wagering generation.
I haven’t finished it. I haven’t heard him comment on Luka, Mark Cuban or his Dallas experience in this pod so far.
The interviewers/podcasters are not great. I know. The splash page is so cringe.
Gimme your take BCR. There is biohacking, placenta therapy in Mexico and Peter Thiel references
Edit - almost forgot
He tells the story of selling his houses, plane and all his worldly possessions to buy BTC @ $3300 during the crash. Friends thinking he had a mental breakdown.
Bob built a house in Monte Carlo. I heard him talk about it before. He mentions it here. Monte Carlo is a bucket list trip. I’ll have to day trip across the border with the maids and gardeners in the morning. What a life. Not a lighthouse on Antigua that’s for sure.
