interesting read---what i learned is a trial court in Colorado found that Trump had committed insurrection on Jan 6; but because of his being an ex President he was exempt from conviction of that as a crime--the supreme court reversed the exemption portion of the trial court but let stand the finding of insurrection. Seems to me the Colorado Supreme court erred on each of those decisions.

What's interesting is 2-fold. The trial court has zero authority to begin with to hold any such trial on an accused crime or tort that never occurred in the jurisdiction. So, in fact Colorado has no legal rights to charge or try any crime or even civil tort that occurred clear across the country. Secondly The 14A is very clear in Section 3. The denial of eligibility applies to those who were involved in the active rebellion and insurrection that took place namely the civil war. The irony is for Trump to have been even involved in an insurrection or rebellion he would've actually had to have signed a Presidential finding in that regard (that an Insurrection or similar was occurring) which he didn't. (even more so ironic is that there were solid grounds to have done so regarding the CHOP/CHAZ incident in Washington State and he still didn't do so). Also, in Sec 3 it states such would be ineligible to hold a seat in Congress or as an officer of the United States.Quote:
