CBP Won’t Say Why Its Press Release On Arrest Of Two Yemeni Terror-Watch Illegals Was Scrubbed
https://thefederalist.com/2021/04/06...-was-scrubbed/Quote:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection will not answer why a press release outlining the arrest of two Yemeni illegal aliens who appeared on both the FBI’s Terrorism Watch List and No-Fly List was removed from its website on Tuesday.
In the now-archived announcement, CBP explained that agents apprehended two men near Calexico, California, between the end of January and the end of March, a period during which illegal border crossings soared to record-setting numbers. The announcement detailing both incidents, including the discovery of a cellular phone sim card in one of the migrant’s shoes, however, was quietly exchanged, without explanation, with a link to a page denying access to members of the public on Tuesday. Searches for the original release on the CBP website also did not yield any recent results.
While CBP did not respond to The Federalist’s request for comment, some on social media speculated that the announcement was removed due to the Biden administration’s new unofficial gag order, which directs Border Patrol agents to avoid answering questions from the media about the rising number of illegal border crossings and migrants in federal custody.

New York to pay up to $15,600 to undocumented workers who didn't get pandemic payouts
New York state lawmakers have authorized one-time payments of up to $15,600 to undocumented workers who did not receive any pandemic payout cash from the government. Citizens have received far less than that, with many not even getting the promised payments of $600, and then $1,400, as promised by the federal government.
According to The New York Times, this is a program that will cost $2.1 billion in state money. It's the largest payout to undocumented workers in the nation.
Those who proposed and back the bill say that undocumented workers have had a hard time during the pandemic because many of them lost work, and were not eligible for the paltry payments given by the federal government.

March saw the most migrant children crossing the border in history, with 18,890 unaccompanied minors being taken into cramped shelters
The previous record was when around 11,000 children crossed the border in May 2019
The March numbers provided by Customs and Border Patrol represented a 100 per cent increase in crossing compared to February
Overall in March, the CBP encountered more than 172,000 people attempting to gain entry along the Southwest border
New reports also suggest the Biden administration is spending $60million a week to house migrant kids
Each teen or child that crosses the border and is placed in one of these shelters cost $290 a day to care for
Top House Republican, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, said he ordered a classified briefing on the two Yemeni men on a terror watch list who crossed the border
McCarthy said Vice President Kamala Harris should attend after she was named by President Joe Biden as the person in charge with addressing the root cause of migration from the Northern Triangle countries
Neither Biden nor Harris have made a trip to the Southwest border region, while Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas will travel to Texas Thursday, but not allow press into his events

Border Patrol in Rio Grande Valley considering releasing illegal crossers into US without court date
Quote:
EXCLUSIVE: Fox News has learned from a senior source with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that a plan is under consideration for Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector (RGV) to begin releasing illegal border crossers who claim asylum without issuing a Notice to Appear (NTA) - meaning they will depart custody without a court date.
Such a decision would be unprecedented if enacted and would place the responsibility of seeking an asylum hearing on the migrants through Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or legal assistance.
The source says the reasoning for the decision is that the situation has "become so dire that BP [Border Patrol] has no choice but to release people nearly immediately after apprehension because there is no space to hold people even to do necessary NTA paperwork."
The process of issuing each migrant an NTA can take hours per individual or family. This would not apply to unaccompanied minors.
The RGV, based in Texas, is ground zero for the surge in border crossings and is more than 700% overcapacity.
11/19/24- Los Angeles declares itself an immigration 'sanctuary'
https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/640/cp...ec317.jpg.webp
Los Angeles, the second largest US city, is setting itself up for a standoff with President-elect Donald Trump over immigration.
On Tuesday, its city council passed a "sanctuary city" ordinance to bar using local resources to help federal immigration authorities.
LA's public school system also reaffirmed itself as a "sanctuary" for undocumented immigrants and LGBTQ students in a series of emergency resolutions.
Trump, who will be sworn in in two months, has promised mass deportations once he returns to the White House. His chosen "border czar", Tim Homan, has urged sanctuary cities to "get the hell out of the way" of federal immigration crackdowns.
The term "sanctuary city" has been popular in the US for more than a decade to describe places that limit their assistance to federal immigration authorities. Since it is not a legal term, cities have taken a variety of approaches to becoming "sanctuaries", such as setting policies in laws or simply changing local policing practices.
