I recently watched The Imitation Game.
A WWII setting basically about cracking the infamous Enigma machine.
I love WWII history so this was right up my alley.
Basically a gay genius, against all odds and recommendations, works to crack the impossible code by literally building the first "computer". This guy, more or less, literally won WWII for the Allies.

Black Mirror, british sci-fi/futuristic/twilight-zoney series.
Watched season 1 (3 episodes) and into S02 now. Interesting stuff.
Each episode stands alone. Not a continuing story.

Not sure if this show is available everywhere, but the British-produced series "River" (not the movie of the same name) was amazing. Fantasticly gripping storyline and acting.
Currently just started watching Black Mirror. I'll update later with my opinion. (Thanks Kuntmissioner for the suggestion)

22 half hour episodes, I've seen half and really like this show.
Two British series I would highly recommend.
The Fall: Serial killer theme but it's not a mystery based 'who done it' kinda thing. We get to know who the killer is from the off.
Gillian Anderson plays the leading female role of an English cop.
Line of Duty is also absolutely superb. Police corruption based with lots of welcome twists.

The US is clearly #1 when it comes to TV production. But think we're probably standout 2nd.
There's a shitload to be said for 6 episode seasons, and I think that's finally coming thru over here thanks to Amazon, Netflix et al being willing to fund shows for anywhere from 4-10 episodes at a time. 15-26 episodes of ANYTHING in a year will make the product suffer. Fuckin, Blackadder was like 24 episodes total, over 6, 7 years, not counting XMas episodes. That allowed them to turn out incredibly entertaining historical fiction/comedy with perhaps the most powerful TV series ending I've ever seen.Quote:

Walking Dead and Homeland are two of many examples of that I think.
But while the demand is there they will just keep churning it out.

Series called 'The Fall' is kinda similar but better imo.
Started on 'Ray Donovan' but didn't make it past the 2nd episode. Same applies for 'Lucifer'. Couldn't be doing with the smart arseness of the lead character.
Another one I did start and currently enjoying is 'Outlander'
Hoping that keeps my interest.
