also until the ncaa apologizes to unlv makes jerry tarkanians grand nephew or whatever 12 year old armenian they find running around glendale prez for life instead of emmert they have not made amends they probably also owe usc 10s of millions for how they fucked them and let paul dee do anything is actually maybe worth 100 million
This all feels different this time. I am surprised only one or two have registered an understanding. Maybe I’m not.
Stan Van Gundy Roasts The NCAA, Calls Out Racism Of The One-And-Done Rule

He goes on to blast one and done. I always thought the NBA thought it was unseemly to be on high school campuses. Get some college tape on these kids for a year at no cost.Quote:
The NCAA is one of the worst organizations — maybe the worst organization — in sports. They certainly don’t care about the athletes. They’re going to act now like they’re just appalled by all these things going on in college basketball? Please. It’s ridiculous,” Van Gundy said.
Van Gundy speculates that there was a marketing angle to the year in college. You bring the college fanbase to the NBA with the 20 year old player.
Interesting take.
I disagree about white baseball & hockey being free to sign out of high school vs. black football and basketball. It’s an age thing for baseball/hockey. You become too old if you go to college, as a rule. Football basketball not so much.
But racism is the nuclear option these days and if it gets traction then bring it on. You and I know the truth
Colts QB Andrew Luck’s father, Oliver Luck, must be dying inside the NCAA. Hopefully he takes over when Emmert resigns.
I hope March Madness gets wrecked. The NCAA would hold off on the suspensions and investigations. That’s just business. But this is the FBI
Love this story
I think honestly I'd prefer it if these kids would keep getting their pay under the table. It sucks when they decide to throw a dart and make some random coach look like a criminal for doing his job, but I can live with that if it means I don't have to deal with the alternative "If you pay the men's players you have to start paying the women's players", debate. I can already see that being more tilt inducing than #metoo.
the NCAA is full of fucking morons so they won't pick up on the easiest way to do this..
simply let athletes get "jobs"...im fairly certain that if you are a scholarship athlete you can't bring in any money through a job (outside of if you are a minor league baseball player and are on a non-baseball scholarship)...that way boosters can hire them to do some bullshit "job" and filter money to players that way...
another way would be to do away with this bullshit amateurism dream that they have...the industry is a multi-billion dollar industry...it stopped being amateur in the 90s...if we don't care if these guys are "amateur scholar athletes" then we let agents sign them right outta high school putting the onus of the market on the agents to identify talent...they fuck up they lose the 5-6 figures they invest in a kid...also let the players profit off of their image (autograph signings, etc)...
now the NCAA doesn't have to get rid of it's precious money and doesn't have to pay athletes...
yes the rich get richer in this scenario, but do we honestly think the UCFs of the world are ever gonna get a fair shake in football? LOL...basketball is a different animal in that if you have a veteran team they can absolutely beat a team of one and doners...
do these suggestions have problems? sure you guys can probably come up with some because I'm too lazy to take the other side of the argument...but at least it brings this stuff above board...
This is pornographic. I can’t even process how outrageous college $ has gotten and yet the athletes still don’t get a dime.

The John Oliver piece by Mulva in the OP is timeless and funny
So many NFL Head coach openings (10?). Why would many college coaches take a pay cut?
