This is not the fault of any particular political party, but given that Biden/Harris have been in place for almost 4 years, it's laughable that just now Biden is claiming to suddenly have a need for more FEMA funding. He could have proposed this at the beginning of his term, not as his VP is trying to get reelected. With that said, the same would have happened if a devastating hurricane like this hit during the Trump years.
2) The current under-funding of FEMA is NOT related to the funding of taking care of illegals. However, FEMA has given out $650 million for this. The allegation that "Trump did the same thing, but took even more money" is bullshit, as his spending was to detain illegals, not fund services for them. Truthfully this money should never be doled out by FEMA, and if it is, there needs to be a hard cap on it.
3) FEMA is definitely preventing private citizens/companies from giving aid to civilians. There's no good reason for this. Even worse, Pete Buttigieg tried to deny this on Twitter, only for Elon Musk (one of the people trying to provide aid) to smack him down, stating it was happening to him right at that moment. He then urged Buttigieg to DM him for the details. Buttigieg did that, and "expedited the permission" for Elon's helicopter to land and provide aid. But it was hilarious how Buttigieg outright lied and said such things weren't occurring, until someone high profile like Musk provided proof. Very typical for Democrats, right along with "they're not teaching DEI in schools", "there's no pornography in school libraries", "the vaccine is safe", "crime isn't going up, it's all your imagination", etc.
