Dude, this chart is completely misleading re the differences in tax rates for the super wealthy versus the rest of us. Why? Because it only shows income tax rates on *ordinary*, NOT the tax rates on dividends income and capital gains, which are much lower. Why should *financial* capital income be taxed at a much lower rate than *human* capitial income???

tl;dr: people are holding frantic meetings to teach trump what a president actually is and does. oh and they have no (not a single one) policy documented.
why not?
they simply never, at any time, thought they were going to actually win.

Expect Trump to totally disconnect with the corporate run media.
He will have his own kind of fireside chats, maybe podcast, where he will correct false narratives or just talk about his current plans, or correct misconceptions, etc.
Expect him to have his phone back after the inuguaration.
Dan Carlin giving pretty good post election analysis, and giving the Democrats a winning playbook for 2020.

LOL white people
Im curious, is this shocking and surprising to you? Most people have been keeping calm but have frankly had enough of the crybabies.
The only thing im shocked about is there isn't more blowback from the right.
Sorry, but I have absolutely ZERO sympathy for the SJW/anti-Trump protesters...ESPECIALLY the paid ones, which are everywhere.
This protesting bullshit because people don't get their way is getting a little old for everyone. Normal Americans have had enough.
There are shit-tons of incidents out there with the shoe on the other foot, and many news outlets refuse to report it - just like whatever news outlet you posted, im sure would not be reporting on Trump supporters being attacked.
Don't get me wrong, I think the shit is disgusting on both sides. This is why other countries laugh at us
Libtards need to wear a safety pins as some kind of a sign that they are safe to talk to and butthurt about the election
Kind of ironic that safety pins are used to pin together diapers. Go figure.
EDIT: Im seeing a few reports about this incident and people who know the person are stating he is not a Trump supporter, but someone who has some type of a mental illness. I don't know how to embed tweets on PFA, but they are right in that Twitter account
Trump just announced that he will not accept the presidential salary.
He's the only president in American history not to take it!
GOD
so this faithless elector thing is gathering speed but its still pretty strange... apparently quite a few electors are saying point blank they cant cast votes for trump because they dont feel its in their constituents best interests or the best interests of the nation. however... they also refuse to vote for hillary.
so they are talking about writing in kasich or romney.
which i actually get, 100%, but obviously i dont see how it changes anything beyond somehow exempting them from guilt and probably derailing the next 50 years of elections somehow via precedent.
Fuck that he won fair and square. What's the point of having elections then if it can just be undone like that?
I hope somehow the electoral college is fixed but I know that will never happen because the gop benefits from it.
How can a state like Wyoming which has 600k people get 3 electoral votes and a state like California which has 39 million get 55?
the law is the law. if electoral voters feel they are forced to act against the best interests of the republic by a vote, they are obligated to reconcile that, is my understanding.
pro tip: im not a constitutional law expert, i never heard of this shit until last week. but thats the gist of what im picking up in the streets.
good luck trying to explain that to the confederate flag crowd, of course.
Yea...ok....

About the Electors
What are the qualifications to be an Elector?
The U.S. Constitution contains very few provisions relating to the qualifications of Electors. Article II, section 1, clause 2 provides that no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector. As a historical matter, the 14th Amendment provides that state officials who have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the United States or given aid and comfort to its enemies are disqualified from serving as Electors. This prohibition relates to the post-Civil War era.
Each state's Certificates of Ascertainment confirms the names of its appointed electors. A state's certification of its electors is generally sufficient to establish the qualifications of electors.
Who selects the Electors?
Choosing each state's Electors is a two-part process. First, the political parties in each state choose slates of potential Electors sometime before the general election. Second, on Election Day, the voters in each state select their state's Electors by casting their ballots for President.
The first part of the process is controlled by the political parties in each state and varies from state to state. Generally, the parties either nominate slates of potential Electors at their state party conventions or they chose them by a vote of the party's central committee. This happens in each state for each party by whatever rules the state party and (sometimes) the national party have for the process. This first part of the process results in each Presidential candidate having their own unique slate of potential Electors.
Political parties often choose Electors for the slate to recognize their service and dedication to that political party. They may be state elected officials, state party leaders, or people in the state who have a personal or political affiliation with their party's Presidential candidate. (For specific information about how slates of potential Electors are chosen, contact the political parties in each state.)
The second part of the process happens on Election Day. When the voters in each state cast votes for the Presidential candidate of their choice they are voting to select their state's Electors. The potential Electors' names may or may not appear on the ballot below the name of the Presidential candidates, depending on election procedures and ballot formats in each state.
The winning Presidential candidate's slate of potential Electors are appointed as the state's Electors—except in Nebraska and Maine, which have proportional distribution of the Electors. In Nebraska and Maine, the state winner receives two Electors and the winner of each congressional district (who may be the same as the overall winner or a different candidate) receives one Elector. This system permits the Electors from Nebraska and Maine to be awarded to more than one candidate.
Are there restrictions on who the Electors can vote for?
There is no Constitutional provision or Federal law that requires Electors to vote according to the results of the popular vote in their states. Some states, however, require Electors to cast their votes according to the popular vote. These pledges fall into two categories—Electors bound by state law and those bound by pledges to political parties.
The U.S. Supreme Court has held that the Constitution does not require that Electors be completely free to act as they choose and therefore, political parties may extract pledges from electors to vote for the parties' nominees. Some state laws provide that so-called "faithless Electors" may be subject to fines or may be disqualified for casting an invalid vote and be replaced by a substitute elector. The Supreme Court has not specifically ruled on the question of whether pledges and penalties for failure to vote as pledged may be enforced under the Constitution. No Elector has ever been prosecuted for failing to vote as pledged.
Today, it is rare for Electors to disregard the popular vote by casting their electoral vote for someone other than their party's candidate. Electors generally hold a leadership position in their party or were chosen to recognize years of loyal service to the party. Throughout our history as a nation, more than 99 percent of Electors have voted as pledged.

It's possible for the electoral voters that are unbound to change their votes, but even at that Trump has already promised to fight it till the end so this could lead to a shit load of lawsuits tying up the process for months.
Hey why doesn't Hillary contest the election? Still waiting on someone to enlighten me on that one.

really draining that swamp
Steve Mnuchin going to be named Treasury secretary
Ex Goldman Sachs executive
She's stuck in an infinite loop
Can we atleast wait till Trump announces his cabinet before we criticize his picks?
He's going to use these establishment types that know how to navigate the swamp, then as soon as they fuck up he's going to drop them in the drain.
The Founding Fathers did not want a system set up where a couple big states determined the election. So they set up the Electoral College. This avoids a scenario in 2016 where Cali, North East and Texas determine the President. If it were just the popular vote Presidential candidates would simply campaign out in the inner cities and college campuses and ignore the rest of the country.
I know the losing side always gets pissed off when this happens, but guess what? It will never, never change. In order to get it changed you need a constitutional amendment. That requires 2/3 of both chambers of Congress AND more importantly 3/4th of the State Legislatures. If you think states like Montana, Idaho and Alabama are going to concede their power to New York and California, you are nuts. Put it this way, last amendment attempt was from the 1970s for the ERA (Women) and it flamed out in the state legislatures.
The reason the Dems lost has nothing to do with the Electoral college. Trump was simply a campaign machine touring 3 states a day, every day the final month. Clinton was focused on her transition team taking it easy. When she realized she was in trouble in the rust belt the final week, it was too late. Basically Trump converted the white working class Obama vote to himself. I mean fuck, Clinton never even visited Wisconsin, you get what you get.
People are making valid points to get rid of the electoral college yet no one seems to care about super delegates in the Democratic party.
Well look at that, most of the special little snowflakes never even bothered to vote...

Druff, your dismissing the merit of politicial demonstrations in a democracy is appalling. Because maybe if (more?) people in the US in the 1930s publicly protested against anti-Semitism, the passengers of this ill-fated passengership wouldn't have ended up dying in Nazi concentration camps.

I do not disagree with anything you said after the sentence in bold. The Electoral College was set up because James Madison and Alexander Hamilton believed the general population would not be educated enough on the issues to properly elect a president. I not advocating for or against the electoral college but the population of states had nothing to do with it.
