Fortunately this is just a guideline, and the states will individually manage vaccine distribution, so presumably this won't come to pass, and we will all be in a general line after the actual priority groups get it.
BTW, I also disagree with giving the vaccine first to healthcare workers BEFORE elderly people. In fact, a recent study shows that about 6% more old people will die as a result of this decision, but that they're basically sacrificing these elderly people in exchange for this theorized prevention of transmission. The thinking is that healthcare workers will be most likely to spread the virus -- especially to those already sick, so it's better to give them the vaccine first than the most vulnerable segment. I don't think this is a good idea, especially since we have one proven datapoint (old people die at a MUCH higher rate) and one theoretical datapoint (that vaccinating healthcare workers first will significantly slow the spread). I haven't seen a lot of data showing that healthcare workers are sickening their patients that often.
My parents are both over 75, and it pisses me off that they're going to have to wait another month for the vaccine, despite living in California, which is getting hit really hard right now.
If I had to come up with a priority scheme, it would look something like this:
People 85+
People 70+ with major preexisting conditions
People 75-84
People 60+ with major preexisting conditions
People 70-74
Healthcare workers
Other essential job workers (with a narrow view of what is "essential")
People 0-59 with major preexisting conditions
People 60-69
People over 40 who have jobs indoors where they have to deal with a lot of people daily
People 40-59
People 35-39
Everyone else
Under the above scheme, you would be right around the middle of distribution. Keep in mind that about 150 million Americans are 34 or under.

Old people, no matter how old and how sick, will not get the vaccine before healthcare workers, and possibly not before essential workers. Unfortunately, some of this is due to both political pandering and wokeness. Among the dumb reasons expressed for why these recommendations are being given:
- Very old people are more likely to be white than black/Hispanic, and since minorities have typically had worse healthcare than white people. The woke crowd is saying that it's time to "give back" stop prioritizing white people. Ugh.
- Associated with the above, many healthcare workers are of color, and a LOT of "essential" workers are of color. Therefore, woke lefties claim we need to give those groups the vaccine first, in order to equalize their lacking healthcare for decades.
- Healthcare workers and essential workers have very loud unions and other organized groups going to bat for them. Old retirees do not have such groups backing them, aside from the AARP. Therefore, the squeaky wheel is getting the grease.
- The media's long-running attempt to scare everyone into believing "COVID is very dangerous for everyone" has avoided reporting that 92% of the deaths are people over 55, 80% of the deaths are people over 65, and 1% of the deaths are people under 35. This has led to the incorrect public perception that old people are less in danger than they actually are, whereas there's a belief that young people are in MORE danger than they actually are. In turn, people are stupidly going along with this policy.
Studies have shown that, while essential workers and healthcare workers do indeed contract/transmit the virus at work, it is estimated that more people will die if old people are stalled another month (or more) before receiving the vaccine. The mistake in this policy comes from failing to understand that by simply vaccinating the population which is dying, it won't matter as much if essential/healthcare workers get COVID.
