Fucking Christ. I'm almost ashamed to be a Niners fan.

I wonder if Peter Caroll goes out at night to inspire the poor teens of Seattle like he did in LA. At 7:12:

When not coaching Seattle, or helping at risk youth, Caroll fights fires and helps Koala Bears:

The 2013 Winter Meetings come to an end today, unofficially with this morning's Rule 5 draft. Most executives will leave Orlando by midday.
A total of nine players were selected in the major-league phase (fewest in 15 years), but the most interesting pick came in the Triple-A portion. The Rangers selected current Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson from the Rockies with the 15th pick and now control his baseball rights. Because of the way the minor-league phase works, Texas essentially bought him from Colorado for the $12,000 fee.
The Rockies drafted Wilson in the fourth round of the 2010 draft out of North Carolina State. He had previously been selected by the Orioles in the 41st round of the 2007 draft out of high school. Wilson did sign with the Rockies for $200,000 and yes, he did play in their farm system for a portion of the 2010-11 seasons. He hit .229/.354/.356 with five home runs, 19 stolen bases and 118 strikeouts in 93 Class A games as a second baseman.
Wilson's baseball career came to end in 2012, when he was drafted by the Seahawks in the third round and given close to $3 million. He had to repay the Rockies a portion of his $200,000 bonus and has since gone on to become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Wilson has been sitting on the minor league restricted list the entire time.
Taking a football player in the Rule 5 Draft is nothing new for the Rangers. They landed former running back Ricky Williams in the 1998 event, though by then it was obvious he was going to the NFL. Williams, an outfielder, hit .211/.265/.261 with four home runs in 170 Class A games for the Phillies from 1995-98.
Wilson obviously made the right choice and it's all but guaranteed he will never play baseball again. If he does though, it will now be for the Rangers' organization instead of the Rockies.
kinda makes me wonder if we hit some sort of weird anomaly in the late 80's/early 90's with some just amazing athletes who were able to pull off the 2 sport thing well (Bo, Deion, even Brian Jordan), or if people could still do it today? With so much sport specific training and practice today (and all the sports basically turning their "seasons" into year-long affairs), I doubt we'll see those solid 2 sport athletes again at a pro level.
Can someone explain to me why the Texas Rangers this week just drafted Russel Wilson?
Why would they do something like this?
Tony did you win $35K? Seattle shoutout of the Giants was very profitable for 12 people:

Does anyone here besides Tony really think the Hawks have any chance of winning the super bowl this year?
Me either...
Hawks will have 2 home games to get to super bowl. Afc is weak
C'mon Weiss, they are clearly the best team in football this year and after tomorrow will secure a first round bye and home field advantage in one of the toughest stadiums for opposing teams in the modern era.
They're going to the Superbowl this year, and who in the AFC can compete with them? Denver? New England? KC? Each has significant flaws and as long as they stay healthy the Hawks really don't have any. It's the NFL and ANYTHING is possible, but they're the odds on favorite for a reason.
I can't wait to bet you on the superbowl. Being a brand new Colorado resident I am ready to bet against your city!
lol, pretty sure the refs just gave the hawks a free retry on that extra point.
Fucking Seahawks I have them in a teaser at -4 and they are playing like shit.
While I agree with tony that the Seahawks are the best team in the NFC on any given day anyone can lose including a great home team like Seattle.
If the Seahawks pull this out like they should we have seen an Arizona team who is fighting for there playoff life right now knowing it's a must win situation put Seattle in a difficult spot which every team come playoff time has that must win mentality.
LOL Cardinals.
Eat shit tony.
sorry Tony B., but this 4th quarter is one of the most entertaining quarters I've watched this year. Let me predict what dipshit Gregg Easterbrook will write about this one:
"When the Seachickens were given a free do-over on the extra point, the football gods chortled. Verily, karma made its way back with a very questionable interception call. As soon as I saw the Cardinal players persuade the refs to call it an INT on the field, I wrote "game over" in my notebook."
Seahawks down at home. It's games like this that they will be facing every week at home in the playoffs. I still like Seattle to make the super bowl but I wouldn't rule anyone out at this point as crazy as this season is.
I predict a NFC East team going to the super bowl imo
Fuck me
Let me have it, it is deserved and I'll take it like a man.
Fuck!
did you have a good weekend les?
any big plans for the holidays?
First thing my wife told me when I phoned her last night was "the Seahawks lost". I think she might care.
True story.
Amazed I was the Seahawks lost. But it's impossible to dribble a football. Still see it as a Seahawks-Broncos Superbowl though. And think Denver will win.
Defense is great but offense wins games. And Denver can put up 50 points against anybody.
Much talk of either Manning or Wilson for MVP. Manning I think will take it down.
You know why Russell Wilson is good? Because he keeps his team out of trouble. Just like Trent Difler did with Baltimore in 2000 when they won the Superbowl.
