The roux was not up to my standard, it was about 4 shades lighter than what I know Gumbo to be, but it was still really good. There is another place in town called Gator Jake's and another called Fishbone's that makes a better Gumbo, but they want 12 a plate for it and it's across town.Quote:

For the first time in my life tonight I baked a pie. Never really made dessert before. Since raspberries are so cheap right now I decided to make a raspberry pie. I didn't have a recipe so I kinda made it up as I went. Since it was my first time I just bought a pre made crust. I took 8 ounces of raspberries and half cup of water and put them in a pan and mixed it up. Added half cup of sugar, 2 tbsp of cornstarch, some vanilla, some cinnamon, and a bar of cream cheese and mixed it into this wonderful creamy sauce/paste/topping. I took 12 more ounces of raspberries and put them in the pie crust. Coated the top with the sauce I just made and added the top crust to it. Baked it for 15 at 425 and another 15 mins at 375. Added some whip cream(vanilla ice cream would be money) and it was the tits.

First of all shame on all of you for not keeping up with this thread. I know you're eating!
Secondly I took this pie and put it in the fridge overnight. With the cream cheese in it it made this amazing mousse type pie with raspberry filling. It was amazing the next day. Ten times better than warm.

A nice NY Strip with Shrimp Scampi and Parmesan cheese with a side of Onion Rings
grilled steak until medium-rare then finished in the oven with the shrimp scampi and Parmesan until done to a nice medium.

Tonight I made Chicken topped with sauteed red onion, bell peppers and garlic. For the sides I made Italian dressing seasoned potatoes baked and topped with shredded parmesan cheese. Also sauteed broccoli and sugar snap peas in some olive oil. I decided to top my chicken with some sweet and sour sauce. Also homemade.
