The Red Sox are one of the hottest teams in baseball lately. Their right fielder probably already has the gold glove in the bag. They've been a lot of fun to watch except tonight. Its women's celebration night and all the color people are women and they're all terrible at calling a game. Watching it on mute is preferable. Is this just a Boston thing or did other teams ruin the tv coverage for the night?
Bird didn’t last long with the Yankees.
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/...jake-bird.html
“ The Yankees have optioned right-hander Jake Bird to Triple-A, per a team announcement. A corresponding move has not yet been announced, though ESPN’s Jorge Castillo notes that right-hander Mark Leiter Jr. is expected back from the injured list today and could take Bird’s roster spot.”
You are literally the only guy here other than Daly who would appreciate.
Sawks are 16 of 18 at home recently. Crazy record since July 1 at home as well. Let’s just say a statistical curiosity. Hmmm
Mazz was expressing a suspicion about “The Wizard of Sign Stealing” Cora possibly practicing the dark art once again.
Holding some Mulva-like Sawks division tickets so I was smiling this afternoon. Actually now that I think of it Mulva don’t waste his time on trivial division action.
Anticipating a Crochet vs Skubal argument on the golf course tomorrow
Sawks like the Brewers are a new age Cutter team. 4S is old school. If Sawks can deprogram the Dodgers 4 seam out and improve his cutter (too much arms side according to baseball savant) and increase its usage they might be able to salvage something out of May.
Meantime tomorrow’s game is gonna be a pitching shitshow on both sides.
The Yankees are a catastrophe. They're just 60-54, in 3rd place, and in danger of not making the playoffs.
And when I say "in danger", they're a half game away from falling out of the 3rd wildcard.
Yankees and Sawks are two clubs going opposite directions.
Braves now have the 4th worst record in MLB, only ahead of Colorado, Chicago Sox, and Washington.
Also, what are the chances of Pat Murphy winning NL Manager of the Year again? Probably between him and Craig Counsell. Maybe Terry Francona if Cincy sneaks into the playoffs.
Can you remember a better right fielder at Fenway than Wilyer Abreau? I'm sure the old timers will say Dwight Evans was better but this kid and his glove are a sight to be seen.
This wasn't even his best play of the night:

Francona currently 23-1, doubt they are getting in this year but they are building something for the future. Question is will they be spenders in adding what is needed to get them over the top next year?
Acknowledging that it’s not nearly as impactful as in the NFL or MLB; I’m actively rooting for the Braves to lose/tank the rest of the season. If they can somehow get a top 3 pick, and if Baldwin wins ROY netting them the extra 1st rd pick, they’ll have a lot of draft slot $ heading into next years draft.
Never did I ever think I’d be saying this. The Braves had the 2nd best WS odds before the season. What a fucking disaster. At least Michael Harris has looked like he knows what the sport of baseball is this last month. If he (and also Albies) can finish strong that would at least provide a tiny bit of optimism heading into the offseason. I still think they can bounce back next season if they hire the right manager (snitker 100% is retiring) and make the right offseason moves. But I don’t feel nearly as confident about that as I would like.
I also can’t understand how they didn’t dump Ozuna and Iglesias the deadline. Even if they had to eat significant salary and got virtually nothing back in return. The Braves best writers speculated that there was a mandate from the Liberty ownership group not to telegraph selling as they didn’t want attendance to plummet down the stretch for revenue purposes. If that’s the case they must mistake their fan base for being fucking morons.
I cut the cable cord a year or two ago thus I donÂ’t have the Red Sox owned cable channel NESN. I live on the MLB app. Sawks blacked out of course. Too lazy generally to withstand the barrage of porn advertising that comes with meth or crackstreams.
I love the radio broadcast. Those guys call a spade a spade. Good and actionable live wagering stuff if you are a degenerate. They spot pitcher issues and identify bullpen activity. They were merciless about the Sawks defense. That has not been the case recently of course. Heartwarming east coast home team criticism that makes us a superior breed of men.
I cannot miss another game and I’ll now pay another fee to see it
We don't pay for NESN either. Wife got some type of fire stick awhile back that has a million channels including all MLB games. I haven't listened to the radio broadcast this year or at least not very much. Isn't Sean McDonough calling a bunch of them though? He was Remy's partner in the booth before Orsilo (as if you didn't know this) and the best of my life. He's also the best at calling the college football games and anything else he's done over the years. Love that guy and he's Boston sports royalty.
Happy to hear you're finally invested in the season for the Sox. I was pissed after they traded Devers but it seems to have worked out just fine.
Horton put up zeros again.
That's 4 such outings in a row, covering 23 1/3 innings. And 5 of the last 6.
I got him a few days ago for ROY at +3500. Unfortunately Bovada only gave me a whopping $35. I'd have put a grand on this if I could. None of my other books listed him.
In the meantime, Baldwin hasn't had a HR in 4 weeks.
Hope some of you listened to me about the Horton value when I posted about it.
Tonight we had a throwback to younger Angels Ohtani. Complete with the fail team loss.
1HR, 8K’s, 0 walks, 1 Hit, 1 ER over 4 innings. That historic vibe is back. He will have to carry the Dodgers in the playoffs but that will cement his goat legend if it goes well
Angels never allowed him to prove himself in playoff tournament against the best
Padres manufactured a win from behind complete with bunts etc. Mason Miller looked trustworthy
Blue Jays vs Dodgers should be entertaining af
I’ll be fading Roki per the program. A polite & sensitive lad.
The bullpen is a giant black hole. There’s a handy excuse for you.
I know you are fixated on Mookie’s AIDS but today he said it wasn’t the AIDS - it has been his hand. Ever since his hand injury last year he’s been poor and he doesn’t know what to do. He’s shook and he’ll tell you so.
They measured hand strength and it is stronger than it was.
I have my own theory.
Padres perma sat Tatis even one run behind going into a day off. Take your uniform off sir. They won.
What is the theory?
I don't believe the hand strength BS, but Mookie himself might believe it.
It's easier to accept that your hand aches than being a healthy early-30s athlete brought down to mediocrity by Influenza SuperAIDS.
But yeah, you don't just come back perfect after you drop a ton of muscle from a horrible virus, right before the season starts.
Ironically, had Mookie been a fatass, his body probably would have handled it better, as he'd likely have lost the fat first before the muscle significantly atrophied.
There aren't many health advantages to being fat, but one of those few advantages is your body being able to better handle rapid, involuntary weight loss. Mookie was already thin, so it's likely that the 30-pound drop ate away a lot of his muscle.
The other problem was that Mookie couldn't keep food down while this was all going on, so I'm guessing he was protein insufficient.
That's a disaster if you already have low body fat and your body is trying to make up for it by grabbing muscle tissue as a substitute. Muscle preservation during rapid weight loss depends heavily on proper protein intake.
The muscle loss sounds like a recipe for rapid aging as is often true with all manner of health issues and injury.
Here's the article Sanlmar was talking about: https://archive.ph/6kUpk
Author Dylan Hernandez is hit and miss. Sometimes he produces good stuff, sometimes not.
In this case, the article wasn't very good. How can he not even touch on the highly unusual illness Betts had in the spring?
I’ve been on the Brewers like everyone for last two weeks. All the normal spots.
What I’m killing it at new though is live betting based on exit velocity outs. Like a starter gets through first 2 innings at home without giving up any runs, but every out is coming off the bat 106 but he got lucky. I usually bet it after 2nd or third where he’s going to be in for multiple innings, yet you get good odds as the other team hasn’t batted in their half if at home or try to cherry pick + situations.
I’m at like 70% for the last month just using this. I’m sure others are doing it, but I’m often watching ABs on my app with exit velocity and just stumbled across hard outs and thinking eventually these are going to drop. And so far they have started to drop or go out most nights.
Anyone else do this with any formulaic approach?
I posted this in the early morning hours yesterday prior to May the mound for the Sawks.
lol, the Sawks wasted no time deprogrammimg Dodgers Mark Prior fail out of Gingergaard. I know I would.

Brewers Sawks and Cleveland. New school pitching. Deempahsizing 4 Seam and weighted balls and leaning into the cutter. It’s working
