Regardless of the outcome of the bet, I think we can both agree that we had a lot of fun out there during the course of the season.
This was the sickest year I will ever see in my life. To put up those numbers in that era was absurd. As an Indian fan when they were good in that period, he just stole my soul on so many occasions. A guy would need to have an era under 0.75 and a 0.50 whip before I'd even consider the possibility that a current pitcher had a better season. Six and seven spot hitters had 30 homers in that era. Plus Pedro was 5'11 and like 165lb soaking wet. He was simply amazing. Best pitcher of my lifetime.
Kershaw's ERA+ over the last couple of years is awesome. He's in the 190's, which is pretty fucking spectacular. He's well above Verlander's Cy Young/MVP year which was 172. Kershaw is in Sandy Koufax territory.
Oh, Pedro's 2000 ERA + was 291. Pedro is not only the best pitcher of my lifetime, he's the best pitcher of anyone's lifetime.

Best CF Cards ever had was Curt Flood. Where would pro sports be without him?
I wasn't trying to imply Kershaw is anything but the best pitcher in the game if my post came off that way. He certainly is. He's the MVP IMO. I just meant that Pedro's season, in context, was an astounding once in a lifetime type year that I doubt I'll ever see again. As you said, probably the best anyone has ever seen.

Ok, please PM me details of where you want the $ sent and where you sent it to me in the first place, so I can remind myself since I am old and forgetful.
Also why couldn't you chop last year's Cardinals/Dodgers bet with me?
:knife
Vegas has the Cards at a 60% favorite for tonight, and a 58% favorite for tomorrow. Don't know about the last game, but I'm guessing they'll be a ~70% favorite, so that'll give the Cards a ~25% chance of sweeping.
I had about zero interest in baseball this year, but I'll for sure be following this final series.
hella-sweat.

two more to go
Damn, and the Pirates won to keep them motivated. By Sunday, Plop might wish Druff simply shipped the money back.

got lynn and wainwright (hopefully) for the last two against some scrubs who don't have a manager or anything to play for
and they aren't in chicago anymore where plop can pay some busboy to give them mrobot-burger food borne pathogen
The Diamondbacks are all kinds of awful, so a sweep here actually isn't at all a longshot, especially with the first game done.
Cards are a 60.5% favorite this game and a 63.5% favorite for tomorrow. So Willie has about a 38.5% chance.
Not gonna lie, a win today would be preferred
Speaking of the Diamondbacks, why fire Gibson and Trammell on the final weekend of the season? What does that accomplish? Are they trying to embarrass them or something?
Here the team has 3 totally meaningless games remaining, and it's pretty clear that the fail is the fault of the front office, not the coaching staff. Everyone knew from the start that the Diamondbacks would suck, and that it would be a two team NL West race with the Giants and Dodgers. So why punish them and do a high-profile firing while everyone's watching baseball?
Asshole move right there by Tony LaRussa.
The classy way to handle it would have been to fire Gibson and Trammell in November shortly after the World Series was over.
I hope Gibson gets a job in the Dodgers organization where he belongs. Admittedly most of his playing years were with Detroit, but his career-defining moment occurred with the Dodgers.
I read that Gibson's extension kicks in if he makes it to the final game.
You're a fool, Willie. And you will lose... everything.

Greg Maddux was a great pitcher & I'll never say anything different. Maddux got a lot of calls a couple inches off the plate from the umps because he was considered to have great control & he did. When he didn't get the calls & had to throw them over the plate he was hittable because he wasn't overpewering.
Pedro could throw it right over the middle & they couldn't hit it because it had so much movement. He also had the intimidation factor which is kinda funny because the guy only weighed 170 lbs.
Mark Trumbo homered (385 ft.) to deep left, A.J. Pollock and David Peralta scored.
