It's funny because you bickered about his wrestling and his wrestling was mostly ineffective and still won the decision.
Granted I didn't agree with it at all but I can only imagine how much san pellegrino limonata chinotto you spat out during bruce buffers reading of the score card.
Yeah I went sideways for a few but then I took my fish for a walk and cleared my head.

is that street overran with tears or san pellegrino?
Is this confirmed. Looks like it been confirmed http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/Jos...n-Zombie-54521
I said to the guys I was watching with that I thought Aldo must have hurt his foot or leg early or maybe even before the fight. It's the only explanation for what happened.
On a sidenote, how tough are these fucking guys.
KZ trying to pop his shoulder back in so he can continue fighting? Anybody who's ever dislocated or seperated their shoulder know how painful that is.
I also had it 29-28 Machida but it's not like it was a highway robbery. He landed the most & most significant strikes standing for sure but when nothing really happens it's tough to complain too vehemently.
Yeah at no point in the fight was I like "awww yeah Machida got this".
I thought the Davis/Machida fight was closer. The thing to me is whenever I watch a majority of Machida fights that go the distance a lot of times he don't do anything to clearly win some rounds. He usually brings some good defense and his offense plays off that but nothing is overly convincing. I see Machida's age starting to slow him down.
Phil Davis is a decent fighter with a potentially big upside to him but he needs some fine tuning yet before being worthy of a title shot.
I thought Aldo might have hurt his foot going away from vicious leg kicks but he still moved around well enough that part of me just thought he wanted to bring a different game plan.
Aldo is a rare talent that can win in so many ways and his weight cut don't really scare me that much for the simple fact Aldo delivers every time.
Its in a better place.

Sums up last nights event for me.
wow.
If memory serves, I remember thinking in the third "Wow Machida is acting like he won two rounds handily and can coast here, uh oh..." but even so I never thought he lost it.
I told the guys I was watching with that both fighters better fight the third like they are down 2-0 because you just never know. I actually had it 1-1 going into the third & thought Machida clearly won the third & would get the victory.
After watching some of the split decision where the score were 30-27, 27-30, 29-28, I'd take nothing for granted no matter what my corner told me about the score. You just can't listen to your corner for objectivity let alone having a clue about how the judges are actually scoring the fight. Too many corners do exactly what you described & the guy just coasts to vict.... I mean defeat.
The only thing that semi-shocks me about the result is that Machida didn't get the homer edge from the judges.
Im disappointed that Machida in particular continues to live in willful ignorance of this. Hes a finesse/point fighter at this point and hes "lost" at least 3 fights under identical (robberyish) circumstances.
Could anyone really complain if he got cut after another loss?
Judges can be badly hurt or killed during a riot whether they are Brazilian or not. Just saying that has to be in the back of your mind while scoring the fight at least until the first controversial loss for a really popular Brazilian fighter to a non-Brazilian fighter on home soil. Glad to see nothing happened except booing.
I don't want to start a new thread but for all the MMA guys Kountermove is have a $250 freeroll for the WSOF on Saturday. Already 128 of 250 registered so hurry.

A spectacular fight between two of the biggest names in MMA in Brazil entered the UFC's plans in recent days and is being greatly entertained internally. The desire of the organization is to score Vitor Belfort x Lyoto Machida for the end of the year in Brazilian soil, as Combate.com found with sources close to the Ultimate. If confirmed, it is likely that the duel is the main attraction of the event that has already been agreed for November 9, in Goiânia Arena, the capital of Goiás The weight class - the middleweight (84kg), medium heavyweight (93kg) or a combined weight - yet to be discussed.
The report came in contact with both sides. The team Belfort said he has not been contacted about the possibility and chose not to comment for now. Lyoto said he had not been officially contacted. On the other hand, said that the Dragon is professional and assured that he would accept the fight against compatriot at any weight.
The initial idea of Ultimate is that combat is the middleweight division. It would be the first time Machida, who has always been a heavyweight, 84kg in weight. He has said he intends to lower division in the future and was willing to move between the two weights for now. Victor, meanwhile, recently said that waiting Winner Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva fight and only accepts before that if the category of medium-heavy or a combined weight.
The main objective of the UFC with the possible appointment of Vitor Belfort vs. Lyoto Machida is an event in Brazil again be absolute sales success of pay per view and especially for tickets. The organization was concerned with many tickets left over in "4 UFC Rio: Aldo x Korean Zombie" and the low sales for "UFC: Glover Teixeira x Ryan Bader," scheduled for September 4, at the gym Mineirinho in Belo Horizonte. Undoubtedly, a confrontation between two names and the size of Vitor Lyoto attract much attention from both the media and the public and would be a success in that sense.
Remember that Vitor Belfort and Lyoto Machida have had small disagreements in the past. First, Rio, Brazil only big name to defend the professionalism fight between friends, in circumstances belt at stake, said the countryman was demagogue for not supporting the idea, since he had already faced brother Chinzo Machida repeatedly in late karate championships. Then, at the time agreed to face Jon Jones with little preparation time, unlike Lyoto Machida, the Phenomenon did a critique of "divas MMA", a term used to refer to fighters in general usually choose opponents. The Dragon did not like and told Vitor "fight silent" and "do not diminish the other." Shortly thereafter, Belfort explained that the criticism was not directed to Lyoto and apologized for the case of the declaration have it hurt.
on a personal note, meh. machida using it to prep for a drop to mw is intriguing however.
