Even If you are a bad guy if you are willing to play ball it actually doesn’t take a lot to get Trump on your side, or at least neutral. As is, venezuela has very limited capacity to get their oil to market. They basically have to send it to Iran on black fleet tankers for processing. And the margins are very low. Even a partial blockade, which is what Trump is doing, basically makes the whole operation unprofitable.
It would take a giant investment in technology and infrastructure to realize most of Venezuela’s petroleum capacities. And if the price of oil dropped very much, it would cost more than it was worth.

Venezuela oil is trash. It is very expensive to refine. The price of oil actually has to be kept high to make it worthwhile. Same for Canadian shale. And there would need to be massive up front investment in infrastructure to even start.Quote:

Ukraine has started directly attacking the Russian black fleet. And European countries are making noise they may start doing something similar. If you want to do a conspiracy along this line, the argument would be the US is taking control of Venezeula so their oil can actually be utilized (Venezuela does not have the technology or infrastructure to do so on anything but a tiny scale) to make up for any holes in the global petroleum supply if/when the Russian and Iran back fleet operations really get hit by US/Israel/Ukraine/Europe.
We just have to make sure nations like China and India (and Europe for that matter) can still get the petroleum they need for their economies to run.
