Disagree. In the past, he’s let the liberals in here operate and sometimes dominate.
Your reading comprehension is abysmal and you don't know how to spell. I didn't "cite" an article or a quote. I watched all three debates. When Mitt went into being docile while Obama was lecturing him I knew the election was over. It's just very bad optics for a republican to allow a democrat to walk over him like that. Unlike you, conservatives don't like pussies. Romney is almost as big a pussy as you are. You have to get in a libtard bully's face and make him think he's going to get bitch slapped. He'll back off like the slinky coward he is.
Was able to go digging in a closet at my parent house and pulled this historical piece of political paraphernalia out. This was from the 1994 Massachusetts republican state convention when Romney was running as the GOP senatorial candidate. I was the president of the high school young republicans at the time.
Romney went on to win the primary but lost the general to Edward Kennedy. Of course, a decade later Romney won the gubernatorial race in Massachusetts. He was one of the architects in Massachusetts' Health Care Reform law which was the first in the nation to mandate health insurance for all citizens and was used as the blueprint for the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), one of the greatest federal bills of the past century. I shake my head looking back at what the republican party was back then and what it has turned into now.
The Last Sane Republican

Trump was a registered Democrat post 2000 with zero doubt. When asked about it, he didn’t run from it, he said:
"It just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans. Now, it shouldn't be that way. But if you go back, I mean it just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats....But certainly we had some very good economies under Democrats, as well as Republicans. But we've had some pretty bad disasters under the Republicans."
Mickey doesn’t know anything beyond how to scratch out a meager living driving 300k miles a year to exploit low level slots.
Yeah, those George W Bush years were great. Got the USA into two wars, imploded the housing market and the financial crisis happened on his watch. Meanwhile under Trump, the economy roared, Putin was not invading countries, inflation was nothing anyone knew about, you could buy a house at 3% not 8%, Hamas was not butchering 1400 civilians, ISIS was destroyed and China was not threatening to obliterate Taiwan. Oh but wait, Trump's tone, his tone. LOL, its why he ahead in just about every poll over the Alzheimer's guy.
(Quote clipped, quote-in-quote removed)
Bush wasn't responsible for the financial crisis, nor was he responsible for the fact that we got attacked on 9/11.
Obviously, Operation: Iraqi Freedom, or whatever they called that horseshit, was done on the premise that they had WMD's---which Bush knew to be a lie. Shit, half of America knew it was a lie. And, even if they did have, they either got them from us or from some other country out there that we sold them to in the first place!
Still, the banking/housing crisis was due to the fact that they were going for record numbers on things and weren't lending with any conservativeness whatsoever. If you want to blame Bush to the extent that the financial system wasn't more tightly regulated, I suppose that's fine, but I don't know that it's for the Federal Government to strictly determine how banks do business and am inclined to say it's not.
As far as the, 'Economy roared,' is concerned, I'd guess I'd need to know what metric you're using to make that determination such that it would be roaring under Trump, but not Biden. If you're using the DOW, then the economy is better now, but for the runaway inflation. Of course, the inflation is partially due to the Federal Government just dumping free money on people in 2020-2021, which Trump himself signed off on, to a large extent.
So, whatever you want the current predicament to be, or how you perceive the current state of affairs, Trump is either partially responsible for it, or if I'm charitable, did nothing to stop it.
Of course, many of the states (which tended to be more liberal) doing draconic and quasi-militaristic shutdowns of most, 'Non-essential' businesses had the most do it with it---which wasn't Trump's fault.
As far as current mortgage rates are concerned, that's a function of the, 'Economy doing well,' whether you like it or not. It's cyclical, so I can't imagine the current state of affairs will last forever...it'll last until we decide to quit playing an increasingly worse (for most citizens) game with ever bigger numbers, I guess. Of course, the further we kick the can of inevitability down the road, the bumpier and more pothole-filled the road is going to get. I think it's time that we just take it on the nose and face the inevitability of another recession before the cliff we're jumping from becomes even higher.
As far as foreign affairs goes, I'm simply not qualified to speak to that.
much of the 2008 banking crisis can be traced back to Senator PHil Graham from Texas and his cohorts. anyway, the government is never the right solution.
Normally it shouldn't.
But if you're going to do a biography with the thesis of, "The GOP Mitt Romney knew ten years ago is dead, and has become an extremist group of crazies and sycophants", then you also have to honestly discuss what's happened to the other side.
Otherwise the reader comes away with the incorrect impression that Democrats have stayed the same, yet Republicans have gone crazy.
Mitt is the crazy ex-girlfriend who seemingly just wants to hurt the party at this point, because he was rejected and mistreated.
And I don't blame him for being angry. He was indeed mistreated and unfairly vilified as a RINO.
But nobody should be taking him seriously right now, as he's speaking through intense anger, and he chose a mouthpiece who hated him and the GOP back when he ran for President.
The "GOP has changed" narrative is so tiresome. It's changed in personality, not policy.
You love to say this, but it's more of a matter of honestly framing provocative statements.
You cannot talk about one party changing or becoming extreme without comparing it to what the other party has done. In many ways, they are interconnected. The Democrats have radicalized in part due to a panicked response to the rise of Trumpism.
Romney's book could have been valuable if it explored how both sides of the aisle have changed over the past decade. He could have criticized Trump's outsized influence and control of the party, while also pointing out how the Democrats have gone nuts via their ongoing TDS. Instead, it appears to just be a lot of crying about how mean and nasty the Republican Party was to him, and how awful/extreme they've become.
His choice of a leftist to write his biography was either naive or calculated. I'm still landing on the belief that it was more being fooled into believing this guy understood him and his gripes.
I remember about 30 years ago, a girl who had previously barely talked to me, and whose longtime boyfriend disliked me, suddenly had an interest to talk to me. Why? Because they just had a bitter breakup, and she knew I'd be a sympathetic ear who would validate her complaints about him. And she was right. This is basically the same thing.
THE CURRENT STATE OF AMERICA'S RULE OF LAW:
Biden-appointed prosecutor ADMITS he declined to prosecute Hunter for tax crimes because he was 'short-staffed'
U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada verified whistleblower claims that he declined to prosecute Hunter Biden on tax crimes
DOJ is accused of politicization during investigation into the president's son
A top Biden-appointed prosecutor verified whistleblower claims that he declined to prosecute Hunter Biden for tax crimes, but bizarrely blamed being 'resource-strapped' as the main reason behind his decision.

U.S. voters do not care about corruption @ Tellafriend. We have evolved, surrendered or are exhausted.
This will elicit a yawn if it is even reported.
Late stage empire.
tgull can prove it with a poll.
Trump’s mentor and New York fixer, Roy Cohn, was a Democrat so Trump was a Democrat. This is all that matters during Trumps formative New York years.
Despite Druff’s confusion demonstrated in the Romney thread Trump is a populist not a traditional Republican neocon. Trump only deigns to represent that party.
Populism was often viewed as Democratic in previous ages. Nobody cares. It’s sometimes tough to shoehorn real politics into our narrow two party system.
Most of what Trump argues is antithetical to traditional Republicans and that is the source of the current Republican civil war.
Yep. We had the proto-Trump here in Jim Traficant. Was at the time the only person to ever win a Rico trial representing himself. Might still hold that title. We were way ahead of the curve here at ignoring corruption if we liked you. Amazing how much Trafficant and Trump were similar. Right down to the fucked up hair. Almost all populists were Dems. Trumps rhetoric is old time populist Dem rhetoric.
Those beam me up Scotty rants on congressional floor made C-span popular for a bit.

I miss Traficant. He was organically crazy. And he wasn’t just playing the tough guy, he’d actually rip off the mob off when he was a sheriff. Great athlete growing up. No silver spoon fake. Was actually a tough guy. He’d be perfect for todays climate. Was really drifting away from Dems direction before going to prison.
I’m pretty sure I shared this story. Probably back on NWP, as Micon loved Traficant. Impressed me that he knew him.
We had a school assembly. I was in like 5th grade. There were kids even younger at the assembly.
Traficant came in to give the kids a scared straight speech. He starts riffing, then forgets his audience as he goes on, and by the end he tells an anecdote.
He tells the story of a mom of a kid he had arrested for drugs coming to visit him and asking him for help. Her son was now doing hard time. His just say no story ended with him literally screaming at an assembly of pre-teens that they “took his goddamn manhood away.” He’s telling us this guy is getting prison raped every day and don’t do drugs. I recall laughing and looking around for the teachers response and they were just looking slack-jawed. He probably made the whole story up, but it was fantastic.
He’d be huge in todays world. You 100% knew he was corrupt, but much more likable than Trump. Trump they say is likable in person, but Traficant could be self-deprecating. Make fun of his own hair. If Trump had that ability to make a joke at his own expense, he’d win 48 states.
This Romney thread is a late stage abortion. However, I might have some fun reading about Traficant. I know nothing about him tbh.
Roy Cohn and his protege Trump. Cohn holds endless fascination for me. I just now discovered the following documentary.
Trump during a time of woe hollered, “Wheres my Roy Cohn?” Cohn was dead at this point but it spoke to the relationship. God mode insight.
https://youtu.be/lTrHL7Vo_SQ?si=sACrQa5gs-KHk8AH
Oh he was Trump long before Trump. Always at war with the IRS as you beat a RICO a case, they’re after you forever. You watch that rant, and just substitute him listing the worthless government jobs with the 33 gender identifications, and it becomes clear who he’d be today . He’d 100% be GOP if he were alive today. He’d be obviously corrupt and guilty and get 80% here. No one cared. He’d take unpopular positions with the party like defending John Demjanjuk, and it drove them crazy.
Good starting point that draws the comparisons.

but the rule of law...........
this is my last time trying to talk some reason into your very dense head.
1. you are ignoring the point - an inequitable justice system - but perhaps it is my fault to think you have a mule's lick of sense and can understand such simplicities.
2. why would you think i'm "sweating anything?" you just lack anything of substance and meaning to contribute here which is why you only cut and paste --oh and throw childish insults, lol.
3 .who supports overthrowing the government? me? lol, god damned you are stupid. the only thing i can think of that is more ignorant than that, is you thinking viking man led the charge on our nation's overthrow. there again, you were quoted as saying you wanted the democrats back in control since they were the "party of law and order." that may be your creme de la creme.
4. ok, fuck me. oh no. i may not sleep now. whatever will i do. baby dick typed fuck me. see above (you are a life loser, just like your last election "lock") which for all the neophytes here, baby dick bet his life's work, lol, and that of his family's on the lock of HRC winning the election -- this from a "professional leatherass." he lost several thousand of it to me....
5. christian -- interesting. please espouse why you believe i am projecting christian bullshit. eagerly awaiting this ....
6. you are a loser who sends his wife off to work during covid while you are afraid to leave the house. obviously cuck material. then you get your voting instructions from your father, like the simp you are. then you pull the trifecta and lose your family's money on your lock.
7. can't wait for your explanations (and no cutting and pasting -- use your big boy words).
The guy pulled a fire alarm and you're making it out like he killed someone. At least 3 times you have posted it 2x itt and once in another thread

You support Russia over America by not supporting Ukraine. Do you even understand how important it is for Ukraine to win? Do you realize that the United states security and well being is tied to Ukraine winning?
Do you know that the US would have to double our national defense budget if Russia were to win?
Do you not realize why russia started the war? Do you not realize trump is in bed with putin and together they want to turn the US govt into an authoritarian govt and trump as the dictator?
I know you dont know the answer to these questions because if you did you would have the same stance i have
here is a tip for you. Either stop reading and watching the lies you're being fed and if you cant do that at least find other news sources and maybe that will open your eyes a bit to what I see and most non propagated Americans see

Material Supplied by Colonel Ted Guy, John McCain’s SRO at the prison in Hanoi. He said McCain "sang like a canary" to the enemy.
"Within the first four days of his capture, while in his initial interrogation (26-30 October 1967) at the Hoa Lo prison in Hanoi, , John McCain provided military information far beyond that which the Code of Conduct – and that which other POWs, while undergoing extreme torture – refused to divulge to the enemy."
