Isn't Doyle a washed up has-been? I thought this was very common knowledge
Will be entertaining to watch this backfire, worse than the billboard fiasco that caused poor Polky to leave poker lol. Rofl.
In young Douglas' defense, the billboard was considered a great prank, and the response in the poker community was mostly positive. At my WSOP tables, the subject came up several times (I didn't bring it up, as I don't really discuss Doug outside of this stie), and the reaction at the table was always positive.
I realize there were some Doug-haters and Negreanu fan boys who didn't like it, but for the most part people found it funny.

Doug is good at getting attention on the internet. Aside from putting out more internet videos, it doesn't look like he is doing much of anything to collect those signatures.
If there are no incumbent opponents, it generally means it is a very hard race to win.
Very few people vote in local elections. For all the disappointment that young people don't vote, who here thinks that Doug Polk voted in prior local primaries/local general elections? If you are curious and willing to spend some time to find out, you can check official records to see if Polk voted: https://www.nvsos.gov/sos/elections/...statewide-list
fr Polk needs to make sure he covers his ass at all times if he's gonna be messing with these ppl or they are F him somehow when/where he's not looking and it will be legal
It's an LOL troll, but ultimately meaningless. You can't get 6,600 signatures in a pandemic. You have to get physical signatures in person with ink, with a witness. And they have to have voted in the previous mayoral election, not just be registered voters in Vegas.
Not to mention 25% when 85% voted for her. You need to go for the 15% who voted against her if that’s even something known. I can’t imagine it is, which is why I assume he wants many more signatures.
Logically if you were really trying to get the signatures, you reach out of the opponents and get their do it lists or if they’re public start there. Asking people to download a form if they think they voted for mayor isn’t likely to go great when 85% voted for the dumbass and they’re 72 years old
That requires a large group of people who voted for her to be self aware that they voted for someone who at this point is certifiably nuts. Quite a tough task.
I assume he knows this and it’s fun and a great troll. It gives him a spotlight if he wants to make a name for himself locally in the future.
Well at least Doug made the Vegas news and got the mayor to respond to this. He can at least hang his hat on that.
So Paradise is an unincorporated town but surely it has a population? It is gerrymandered somehow around casinos? Could you not move to Paradise and get enough people and then be mayor of the strip?
I used to be a fan of Dan N years ago, but that died about 10 years ago. Once he started to ride off sponsorships he became too boring. Was a fan of Doug but then he quit talking about poker and I don't really care to hear what he has to say. He's like any other nerd.
I'm not sure why they split up Las Vegas like this but a lot of real estate is in "unincorporated clark county".
They should just merge everything into the city of Las Vegas.
Nobody lives in "unincorporated clark county" it's fucking Las Vegas.

i'd imagine doug is very much playing the long game here. getting the amount of legally required signatures considering the average voter in the last election was like 75 yrs old and is now likely dead or on a ventilator is a LONG SHOT, like SS said.
but with the attention he will get from this, he may actually have a semi decent shot at the next general election. not sure if he's required to live in Las Vegas proper or not, considering he currently resides in Henderson, but i doubt that'd end up being a serious roadblock for him.
like him or not, the guy is very media savvy, and has a lot of resources to make a run at it if he wanted to
edit:
meant to quote a different post but doesn't really matter
“They” in this case doesn’t exist. Because Las Vegas wasn’t “split up” by anyone. What happened is that back in the day when the area was much less built up, many newer casinos were built outside the Las Vegas city limits and then resisted attempts by city officials (if there were any) to have their land annexed by Las Vegas.
must be a slow news day, this actually made my Canadian news feed. sadly no PFA link or shout out
It is by design.

Working out great too lol ...
You might want to see the twitter thread I sent to Doug it pretty much sums up the facts of the situation and why he’s wasting his time. Short version I told him he’s wasting his time becuase pretty sure since Goldman is basically a Democrat and they’ve been more cautious and tight assed about reopening stuff that my guess for her to say what she did was due to a fire being lit under her ass by the Casino employees union who likely told her she needed to push to reopen stuff otherwise they might very soon do what Doug is doing and likely would succeed They are akin to the old Tammany Hall political machine in NYC back in the 19th into the 20th century. (See Gangs of NY for a further explanation).
If Doug thinks he can beat the Casino Union in his recall endevour I wish him good luck. He has zero chance likely to get the sigs and even if he does the election will be a slam dunk. She crushed the last election she ran winning 85% of the vote I believe it was.
Well the story made yahoo’s front page/ feed
Something I learned today, 80% of Nevada's land is owned by the Federal Government

I’m sure Thomas has been firing suggestions at Doug all week only to be met time and again with, ”I’m not making a single fucking move until I get some input from FTP Jesus. I need his take on the organized labor situation and the Democrats involvement. He will sum up the facts and we can then make a decision on how to proceed.”
They make it very difficult to find information on the union in Las Vegas and what they might possibly want. Thankfully I ran across an obscure 8th-tier poker forum after hours of digging and found this thread.
https://pokerfraudalert.com/forum/sh...inos-reopening
When you read something like that, with all the unions demands for safety and hurdles they’re insisting be cleared for opening, some might ask themselves, “is it possible maybe they really don’t want to open up right now and are enjoying the time off from being constantly exposed to a deadly virus while making similar money from unemployment and the government assistance and watching Netflix?”
Not you. You see through that and can clearly see that it’s all a ploy to force her hand to open up quickly and that they truly desire to be a control group for all of us. Who wouldn’t want that?
That’s union 101. First page of the manual clearly states that the unions mission is to forget safety and to forget that they work in a Petri dish environment, but to remember that the corporations who own those casinos are led by sensitive men and they need to do their part to open as quickly as possible despite having months left of government money getting sent to them every week.
I expect Doug to now scrap this entire endeavor given your opinion that it’s futile.
Clearly it won’t fail because it’s extraordinarily difficult to collect the right nearly 7k elderly voter signatures during a pandemic. Trying to locate the right voters in a sea of nearly 700k eligible voters is the easy part. The hard part is trying to combat the Machiavellian maneuvers of the union pressuring this poor woman to rush this entire process despite all evidence that they’re doing the exact polar opposite of that.
When the union came out immediately after the interview and slammed her comments and said she’s outrageous and dangerous, that would fool a lot of people and make them think the union wasn’t exactly thrilled with her. That ruse isn’t fooling puppymonkeybaby though. He sees right through that.
Much like many people speak about Trump, I’ve heard quite a few people say that no one understands the internal fabric of the Democratic Party and it’s relationship with organized labor quite like puppymonkeybaby does. Many people are saying that. (See I am Sam for a further explanation)
Now Doug knows what he’s up against. I’m glad you straightened this all out.
