Odd day.
Started out terrible, losing KK overpair to a set of 2s on SB versus BB, and then losing a few more to watch my starting stack cut in half before the seat got warm.
Then I slowly ran it up, to where I reached 33k and was one of the chip leaders (though not THE chip leader).
Then I stalled for a long time, trading wins and losses.
Then I took two brutal ones, first getting my aces cracked, and the very next hand running into aces when I had a pair and open ended straight draw.
At this point the bilnds were high, and I was down to under 16k. I hit as low as 13k before coming back to 31k, only to lose some again when QQ got cracked by K8.
Then in the final 30 minutes of the night, I had 67h in early position, contemplated raising it, but reminded myself that this isn't a 6-max game on Bovada, and folded. SB turned out to have aces, and got in a raising battle with the BB postflop on a board of A854J with no flush possible. That would have been a MONSTER pot. Damnit. In my defense, 67hh plays poorly from early position when the blinds are high compared to the stacks, as they were at this stage of the tournament.
Anyway, I finished with 28,100, which is a little below average.
Brandon was card dead, lasted til near the end of the day, but eventually busted.
I lost every high pair TT and above. This includes two TTs, two QQs, KK, and AA. However, I did relatively well in the other hands I played, hence finishing near average stack.
Average is 31,767.
157 out of 665 remain.
Chip leader is Max Silver with 108k, though he's oddly listed as "1" on the report: http://www.wsop.com/pdfs/reports/149...s-by-Chips.pdf
I always seem to get Ronnie Bardah at my table, but I didn't today, nor am I starting with him tomorrow. However, he and I are starting with an identical 28,100 in chips -- both of us being tied for 81st out of 157.
100 spots pay, due to the WSOP's new policy of paying the top 15% of finishers.
Top prize is $188k.
My table tomorrow looks like this:
Floyd Bee SPRINGFIELD, IL, US 4,600 Amazon / 406 / 1
Igor Balaban Denver, CO, US 63,100 Amazon / 406 / 2
Jacob Deschaine Colonial Beach, VA, US 15,600 Amazon / 406 / 3
Michael Ma MODESTO, CA, US 32,700 Amazon / 406 / 4
Andrii Nadieliaiev DNIPROPETROVSK CITY, UA 10,800 Amazon / 406 / 5
Eui-Joon Chung Oshawa, ON, CA 27,900 Amazon / 406 / 6
Todd Witteles LAS VEGAS, NV, US 28,100 Amazon / 406 / 7
Paul Kho Daly City, CA, US 28,900 Amazon / 406 / 8
Steven Lyons SPRING, TX, US 27,900 Amazon / 406 / 9
So this looks like a good draw, based upon the fact that I don't recognize any of those names.
However, this table will be the 5th to break (provided they break high to low), so it will likely be broken before we reach the money.
We restart at 2pm.
Regarding the $2k NL scheduled for tomorrow, I will play it by ear.
The event will already be going for 3 hours by the time I restart. If I bust pretty fast (obviously hope I don't), then I will probably late-register the $2k NL and start with a full 10k stack. However, if I last a few hours, I will not play the $2k NL, and will refund everyone's money for it (including whatever markup you paid).
Check http://twitter.com/ToddWitteles for the status of whether or not I play the $2k NL.
