The quadjacks interviews are hit or miss, I listened to a few and the one with laak was just brutal IMO

I actually believe him regarding all or most of what he said regarding both Fischman and the Quad.
This was too bizarre for him to fabricate. Who would ever make up a story that Scott was paranoid that Cyndy Violette was cheating him? While I'm sure Dutch is no peach to live with, I totally believe that Fischman was whacked out on all sorts of drugs and completely lost his mind. I could actually picture all of this happening as Dutch was describing it. First he was just dismissing Fischman's paranoid rants as drug-fueled nonsense, but then knew big trouble was coming when Fischman started accusing him of sneaking into his room and leaving a bottle of water there. Shortly thereafter, he received a rambling letter telling everyone to GTFO. I totally believe all of this.
Caesars' rebranding of Imperial Palace to The Quad was actually a good idea, as they took a dirty, has-been, piece-of-shit property with a bad reputation (and a former owner associated with the Nazi movement), and ditched all of that baggage. Unfortunately, this was the ultimate case of lipstick-on-a-pig syndrome. They remodeled the lobby and casino areas to where they don't look awful (I actually checked it out a few months ago), but I imagine that it was just too expensive to renovate the entire hotel to where it improved all that much. I heard that they spent money renovating the rooms after purchasing it about 8 years ago, but I keep hearing reports that it's still a shithole.
The "Pet Stay" rooms have to be terrible, as you're no longer just staying in a pets-allowed room (where pets occasionally show up), but rather ones where pets are there every night. This is much worse than a house with pets, because a hotel room is a much smaller area. I believe Dutch when he said it smelled like 100 cats took a piss simultaneously and then died there.
Regarding him not cashing in this year's WSOP (despite what he claims to be $50k in buyins), he blames "tournament rust". I don't believe that. Like Dutch, I also had not played any tournaments since last year's WSOP. That didn't stop me from cashing in the first event I played this year, making Day 2 in five of the seven events I played, and finishing 5th in the $5k Limit event. I can tell you that I didn't feel at all "rusty". Even if he did, one or two tournaments should have cured that "rust" if it's only been a year. (I would more accept this excuse from a guy who hasn't played since 1995.)
Chinamaniac is correct that variance is huge in these things, which is the reason I have struggled so badly at the $1500 Limit Holdem since finishing 3rd in 2005 (nine straight non-cashes). It's the same reason unstoppable forces one year can completely brick the next. So, yes, I believe Dutch was definitely victimized by negative variance, just as he benefited from positive variance when he won that Limit 6-Max event a few years ago.
But I think it's also more than that.
I think that some successful players from the past are obsolete by today's standards. The game has changed a lot. If you don't change along with it, you will get crushed. I haven't seen Dutch play recently, so I can't comment on how his game matches up with today's players, but it's very possible that his style just doesn't work anymore. I'm not going to name names, but I've seen a lot of successful pros from the '90s and'00s look just completely clueless at the WSOP in recent years. Like, I know they think they're still a favorite, but I generally put them as mostly dead money. I give guys like Hellmuth credit for adapting and still being able to crush. I know that my own tournament game is far from perfect, but I can also tell you that I know how the game has changed, and I know that I'm not at all the same tournament player as I was five years ago. How many "name" pros from last decade can honestly say the same?

Honestly other then some areas blocked off for renovation its alot better then it used to be from what I understand. Had no complaints while there honestly. room was clean and since we werent right by the elevators it wasnt too noisy. Im guessing it depends on where your staying there was in Tower 3 this time and I suspect Tower 5 is the best of the building but havent seen to know. Only one big plus is sportsbook is pretty easy to get to and not crowded if ya wanna drop some money unlike some bigger spots on the strip. Probably dropped more money at Harrahs next door overall though but the Hash house there is like Waffle House on Crack apparently its fairly well know I guess. Good food but some weird looking shit the way they serve it up.

this was evidenced very clearly in last year's wsope. ESPN covered the ft showing the hole cards of all the players, not just those in the pot. I recorded it on my tivo--it runs about 4+ hours. Hellmuth's ability to switch gears from tight to aggro (e.g., 3 betting with 74o) was spot on.
