CNN finally broke down and covered the story... TODAY!
This was only after Trump and the NC governor spoke on it (the latter also ignored the story for a long time, even though it was the biggest story in his state for at least 3 days).
The mainstream media, aside from the right-leaning outlets such as NY Post, were very purposefully ignoring the story.
It's a huge problem that we have a media which refuses to cover something newsworthy because it might make people think bad things. It's a form of thought policing.
If you complain about it, you get gaslit with responses such as, "They can't cover every local murder story", "You only want it covered because it was black-on-white crime", or "MAGA is exploiting this to push a racist narrative".
Axios put out a terrible article today entitled, "Stabbing video fuels MAGA's crime message".
According to Axios, the issue isn't that an innocent young woman was murdered on a train while going to work, or that the killer had 14 previous arrests and was still out on the street. The issue is that MAGA is using this to push for crime reform! Shame shame!! MAGA should sit quiet like everyone else, you see.
Here's the dumbest passage of the article:
Quote:
MAGA influencers are drawing repeated attention to violent attacks to elevate the issue of urban crime — and accuse mainstream media of under-covering shocking cases.
Shocking video of the fatal Aug. 22 knife attack on 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska on a light-rail car in Charlotte, North Carolina, dominated weekend conversation on Trump-friendly social media.
The big picture: The rising number of surveillance cameras in public spaces, including on Charlotte's light rail, has become a big accelerant in these cases.
So that's "the big picture". We need fewer cameras on public transportation, so nobody is able to show examples of career criminals killing innocent people. It would be much better that we DON'T have cameras, so it can be swept under the rug, according to Axios.
Unbelievable.
