A maid wants $80/hour to clean Shaun Deeb's house, and he's big mad

If I could get a decent but not huge sized house cleaned for $150 by someone who was upstanding and not on drugs/didn't have a criminal or druggy son/husband and they had insurance. I would consider that to not be too bad of a deal for the time. So that's what, $50 an hour maybe?

I agree the total cost is a much better way as a client to hire a housecleaner. Otherwise they can "slow clean" and soak you for a lot more. I have never hired a maid by the hour. It's always by the job.

However, the $80/hour for one cleaner is still FAR too high, even subtracting from it for the expenses you listed above. If this were the necessary rate to cover those expenses and still make a living, all housecleaners would charge $80/hour, but in reality almost none do.

Also, who said she's licensed or insured? No maid I've ever hired has run such a formal operation. In most cases, I've bought the cleaning supplies (I ask what they need), they show up, I pay them in cash, and I rebuy the supplies when they get low. Their only expense comes from the gas driving over to me, and a little from vehicle wear-and-tear (but not much because I'm usually not far from them).

we have a lady who comes every other week. we pay her $135. she is in and out in 3.5 hours. i feel like i'm paying a lot, but it is worth it rather than restarting and i don't have to worry much about shit getting stolen.

We got a handy man for 200 for a full day did a great job for us. Hung up doors, sand blasted deck, painted the front of the house, a real bargain he was spanish off the books.
