That's the saddest part to me. Louie may be the best but he ripped off the Seinfeld schtick 100%.. There are even some jokes from Seinfeld that he has worked with.

Louie is a sad, more depressing version of curb. it is still gold though.
To me there is nothing funnier than someone taking an everyday situation and expounding on it, without vulgarity etc. Take the Seinfeld can't find the car in the parking lot show.
Bill Cosby was the king of this......every day stuff that when dissected was real life fun
Seriously, did you not think this Is a Seinfeld ripoff when you first saw it.......that was the first thing that entered my mind
i mean, yeah, it is basic larry david style comedy.
I really disagree. Sure the comedy types intersect, but Louie is much darker and not as laugh out loud silly-funny. Louie makes you think and makes you feel melancholy for the hopelessness of the human condition. Its a whole different style and core purpose, and it leaves you feeling depressed, but enriched. Sonatine, can you weigh in here?
and yeah, Louis CK's comedy is not similar to Seinfeld's. If any comparison could be made, you could say he's a white Chris Rock with his material.
I think the show now is possibly the best thing on television right now.
right
Yes... Thank you. Not sure about the Chris Rock comparison.., but yes on it being the best show on TV.
This last episode was the most depressing one yet, if that's even possible. But the scene in the beginning where he is trying to fix the doll had us literally rolling on the floor.
In this episode of "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee"
Mel Brooks and Jerry Seinfeld discuss Louis C.K. at the 8:40 mark.
It's very compelling.

Sopranos/East Bound and Down style break for season 4. Won't air until 2014.
FX mostly leaves him alone to make the exact show he wants to make. And he's decided that, in order to keep making exactly what he wants, he needs some extra time to do it.

Plowed through the rest two seasons recently.
Really good mixture of black humor and poignancy. Some of the episodes, like the one with his old comic friend Eddie, the one with the high school bully etc. hit like a punch to the gut.
Looking forward to watching season 3

Rewatching some of the older episodes - I think the show got better as it progressed, but every episode has gold in it.
I love the fact that as he got more confident in his voice and vision, he expanded his creative role, and it worked.
The Dane Cook appearance is such an absolutely brilliant meta mindfuck, like, not since The Larry Sanders Show have I experienced anything like that, and I think its testimony to how deeply impressed the industry is with his accomplishments that Dane Fucking Cook would feel comfortable stepping into that part.
Also the suggestion that his show is basically derivative of Curb and Seinfeld is totally correct; they all feature people being funny.

Also the whole Jay Leno "I used to be the cool guy" convo was so poignant and so obviously, painfully sincere..
