That 20 minute period is only sufficient for people with lighter skin, especially at higher latitudes. Because darker skin blocks some of the radiation that causes development of Vitamn D, Black folk typically need more sunlight than White folk to avoid Vitamin D deficiency if their diet isn’t augmented with Vitamin D-enriched foodstuffs.
