This girl is damn lucky she didn't get raped or worse. OP said she was sweet and the driver zeroed in on this thinking she was weak and completely dominated her in the car. Give her credit, she made some very good decisions under a lot of pressure. She thought on her feet very well.

The company may be choosing the lesser of two evils here. If they get sued for the info or are forced to turn it over by a warrant, they can live with that. But if they get sued by the driver, that could be a lot of cash. Doubtful if they ever use this driver again. Certainly his account was flagged after this.

Uber actually treats drivers like crap. They fire people left and right for very small infractions and not keeping up a near perfect rating. I imagine this guy will be certainly fired but for the above reasons they won't co operate with police.

Depends on the market... When they first arrived in our market, it was 8 years old or newer, then it bumped to 10, then 12.... I think I've heard some markets with as many as 15 years on the vehicle.

Uber is growing way too fast. I can't tell you how many people I know who used to love Uber because they were getting a ride in a clean car with a normal human being, but now actually despise them.

I personally only use Lyft now, at least they allow an in-app tipping for their drivers. They also seem to do a better job vetting their drivers IMO. Just based off the dozen or so rides I've had with them.

The only poor decision she made was getting into the car. If you do not feel comfortable with a particular driver, just abort the mission. Tell the dude you had a change of plans and walk away. I have done that to a THUG who tried to pick me up. I ain't letting no NIGGA from Compton, CA drive me around.
