What do you think of college players being compensated with annuities Daly? I certainly always strongly felt the players should be paid but this is wild.
I don’t follow football but SMU is straightforward
Few different ways to take it all in and process it.
Best place to start is at the beginning. If anyone thinks “payments” to players is a new thing over the past 2-3 years then I could see how this whole NIL thing may rub you the wrong way. Fact is “payments” have been made to players and parents for decades now so it some sense this is better because at least its all above board now.
The part thats out of control is the transfer portal. Its legit free agency. College football
As a whole could have done a better job with this part of it……. But in the end this was bound to be the out come because of two simple facts
1. NCAAF has been a for profit exploit for the NFL as a Minor league system for decades.
2. As much as the NCAA has enjoyed running this at a profit the one thing that would put a stop to the parade would be if college players were in the eyes of the law employees and not amateur players.
Can you imagine the cost if all the players who got hurt to the point of retirement over the last decades needed to be compensated?
The whole thing…. And I mean the entire administration of the game needs to be completely dismantled and put back together again….. and the best solution would be a admittance by the NFL that NCAA is a pipeline to the NFL.
