Of course(I would think so) That's why I am calling it a scam. He is literally just doing the same exact thing he was doing, except he's going up against bigger sharks in Antigua.
I played on seals with clubs because I figured couldn't be shut down as was bitcoin site and a gray area. I also figured would never get busted by the doj because it was too small time. I was on the site since the beginning and got pretty comfortable in my hypothesis that the site was untouchable. The site drawing attention from the Las Vegas Gaming commission was definitely a rude awakening. Kind of mind boggling to see all the people across the forums like 2 plus 2 throwing caution to the wind and waiting on pins and needles for the site to reopen so they can rush to get back on. I am sure a lot of those people will throw way more money on the site that they can comfortably lose. I can only imagine the bedlam if all those players lost their money on the new site. If the site is opened without a license people who put money on the site may well lose it.
Let me jump start the speculation.
Doughy, middle aged white guy.
Computer science background
Successful Poker player.
News filters set up to trap poker fraud & news.
Life long interest in poker sites success & failure & thinks a great deal about why
Expressed an interest in working for a poker site so that he may exercise his knowledge
Person who has a previous working "relationship" with Micon
Person who has been strangely silent in the midst of quite an interesting poker story
Micon needs to find some corrupt gaming officials who he can pay off to look the other way or some type of loophole. Then he needs mislead or not reveal his actual location to the public.
Sooo many haters, I bet the gaming authorities in Antigua have already received a hundred anon. tips about Micons plans.
WTF Nobody's giving Micon any respect.
He got into the Bitcoin game and the Bitcoin Poker game early as fuck, gotta give him that.
He's got a pretty hot/educated/ seemingly loyal wife, considering he's such a squirrely looking, pencil necked geek. Gotta give him that.
Everyone's unfairly writing him off as a total failure/loser imo.
This nigga just might pull this shit off, and make some serious bank. He got in early as fuck.
just sayin...
ETA 48 hours is now 20 hours old, so closing in on ETA 24 hours
I'm still taking the over and would set the line at -600
Hernandez might face some federal charges eventually but he's currently being tried by the state of MA for murder in Bristol County Superior Court, Fall River. Next will come more MA state charges, in Boston's Suffolk Superior Court for a dbl murder in 2012. (He's already been indicted.)
The only possible federal charges he may face (IIRC) would be from shooting his buddy in the face while driving in FL. His buddy lost his eye, but refused to name his shooter at the time. That case was initially filed in federal court, but has been postponed while da murdas are dealt with.
Forum's thread tag game has successfully rebounded. Keep up the good work fine folks.
Definitely not a hater. I really don't see any categorical hate in 750 posts. The thread has done an excellent job of hashing (BTC humor) out the story. Cokehead has owned this thread & ought to call in tonight. Throw out Tyde and it's been a pretty fair assessment of the situation.
I DO think Micon is innately bright. I find him to be clever & original. I also think he is a bit on tilt for reasons already posted. The events are so hot, recent and personal that he cannot have clarity of mind.
I admire people who take risks and live outside of convention. Micon. Consider the empty lives of those who commute to the cubicle every morning and perform their assigned job duties. They will wake up at fifty and realize they have done very little with the opportunity that is life. I appreciate their service but have contempt for their choice.
We will all be dead soon & if you took no risks and had no adventure then you squandered it. Overwhelmingly, that isn't PFA.
I don't think his backer needs to bribe officials or look for loopholes. Druff is, however, excellent at negotiating value. Nobody pays list price. Micon will do fine here.
Do I think Micon's choices here are a winner? Nope. Do I admire his game? Yup. Is this a fucking entertaining story? C'mon. It ain't gonna end well though and that's a little sad.
Bonnie & Clyde go to the beach.
When discussing the genesis of Micon's fate, one cannot overstate the contributions of his Libertarian-Snowden-LibertyDollar school of victim worship. It is the rosetta stone for understanding his motives and actions, his doubling down on losing hands in the name of nebulously defined principles that seem to have no substance beyond GOVERNMENT CONTROL IS BAD AND I WONT BOW TO IT.
Pretty sure he will find a lot of people singing the same song on the cellblock.
Seriously though, I'm not at all involved with Seals, and my issues with Micon were serious enough (on both sides) to where you're not just going to wake up one day and find out we kissed and made up. It's never going to happen.
Perfect cover story. But you have to feign outrage next time you are asked.
I think you are plug comparable with this enterprise. All the boxes are checked. It is a rare moment in life when all your skills, experience and contacts align with opportunity.
I wish you nothing but luck but I doubt you will need it.
We do, so this is what puts me in such an odd position with this huge story.
I can't just pretend it doesn't exist. I have intentionally steered clear of other more minor Seals-related topics in the past, but this is huge and I can't just act like it's not happening.
Also, in summer 2014, I got multiple reports that Micon was talking shit behind my back to various people at the WSOP. Like, he wasn't going around trying to bring my name up, but if someone said anything about me (usually not realizing we weren't friends anymore), they got an earful of nasty stuff.
In response, I made an Alvin Finklestein post in August which essentially said that Seals was illegal and the owner would eventually get busted. Micon immediately made an angry phone call to me, demanding I take it down. I told him that I did it in response to his unprovoked June/July shit talk about me. After a very contentious phone call, I agreed to take down the Finklestein post, and he re-agreed to stop talking shit about me.
Anyway point being that I don't feel like I'm doing something awful by commenting on this very large and public story, and I think I've been very fair with my assessments and commentary. I'm not going to talk shit about Micon, but I will give my thoughts on the Seals situation itself, especially because this site always comments on matters like these, and it would be irresponsible for me to ignore it.
No radio interview on the horizon then.
The "I'm a peaceful man with a family. They could have easily just called me or knocked on my door. No reason to bust my door down and hold me at gunpoint in front of my family" is about as meaningless a justification and defense as there is. This does not justify anything. It literally means squadush in the eyes of the law.
As an example: Back when Vegas had dispensaries operating under grey areas of the law, they were all raided by a large task force. Businesses with glass fronts, during business hours, were subjected to raids where the doors were literally beaten down with battering rams, and the doors were unlocked. All the dispensary owners said the same thing as Micon, crying how they would have peacefully allowed police to conduct the raids and how they had sick people and innocent workers in the dispensaries at the time that were scared to death by the police tactics. In the end all the dispensary owners were charged with federal crimes and a lot of them went to jail. It literally meant nothing how the police conducted the raids. All that is good for is a woe is me type of story. Courts don't give a shit that the police or whoever were unjustified in how they conducted their raids.
Im sure Randy Weaver said the same thing at some point.
Looking forward to awkward podcast
Does Micon have some nudes of you or something, Druff? WTF on the refusal to say how you feel. Fuck Micon. He isn't even allowed in the country anymore. Tell the world how your feel and be honest about. Stop being a bitch.
We can all agree on this:
Micon's an absolute genius at getting in early.
He got in etrading stocks early.
He got into poker forums early.
He got into internet radio shows early
He got in poker training programs early
He got into Bitcoins early as fuck.
He got into to online Bitcoin poker early
He got into drones sort of early haha.
and who knows what else..
Took some fucking balls to lock horns and cut ties with Druff and then Drexel and probably a couple other notable figures like he did.
Took some balls to run a post black friday US poker site in Nevada.
Took some balls to haul ass to Antigua and likely reopen after the raid.
Wonder how this story will end.
Next Calvin Ayre or the next Bernie Madoff, place your bets.
Pending charges and perma leaving the USA has to way heavy on his mind.
Good luck...
As someone who played on both sealswithclubs and gridpoker. I really wish the whole *look at me I'm Micon the icon* was never a part of any of this. Seeing the grid software brought to the seals player base is really exiting. Bitcoin poker doesn't need a fucking idiot rock-star. That being said. I hope this idiot rock-star can make it work out of my own selfish interest.
personally i dont think its outside the realms of possibility that there is no backers and team, its just micon going it alone.
in his jew eyes hes taking this as an opportunity to go from 50% owner to sole proprietor. he only has to get half as much traffic to make the same amount of money.
we already know swc 2.0 software was practically refined to the point of complete and gifted to him by the other owner who walked away, we know they had a beta server with swc 2.0 running. swcpoker.eu points to the beta server and off he goes.
he'll be thinking to himself when he has to do bug fixes or updates he'll hire some chinese/indian freelance coder
Gank played on SWC some and seemed pretty broke, talked about living in Cali @ some hostile
(guess he's always got those 20 acres of oceanfront property in the middle of Idaho).
Dutch rarely played of recent on SWC (at least under the "Dutch" screen name).
Dutch did just bink $288,000 something @ WSOP circa '14.
